Joey Fatone is part of NSYNC, not Backstreet Boys. Thank you for reacting to the official video and the live performance video for Pentatonix "90's Dance Medley". Happy that you both enjoyed them. They are amazing. There has only been 1 member change in Pentatonix 11-year history. Avi, original bass, left in 2017 for personal and family reasons. Matt became their bass October 2017. Avi now has a solo career. Pentatonix has many albums and EPs (approx 12), over 200 videos and 3 Grammy awards (and have been nominated for their 4th). They are currently on tour.

Mitch is super into fashion as self-expression. In the livestream of this concert they showed his suit from the back at some point, and you can see how carefully it was tailored to hang a certain way. No mistakes there, lol. Looks like everyone has you up to date on the group! I am really hoping they get their fourth Grammy in February. Their album "Evergreen" was nominated. Can't wait to see them live in December!

Avi Kaplan was the original bass singer. He left the group in 2017. That's been the only change. 3 of them have been singing together since high school.

yep the events and scheduling was too much for Avi he left to spend more time with his family and lessening the tour workload. Matt replaced him, an excellent singer and background/boxer but sadly didn't replace that low bass that Avi contributed which went so well with Mitch's high notes. I think Matt would fit in with Voiceplay better than Pentatonix, who needs another low bass.

I’ve noticed that the cell phone video from up close has the levels off a little. When someone is on the opposite side of the stage you can’t hear them as much. It’s like they are in front of the speakers and you are hearing the raw audio from the stage. Video from farther back sound the same, but the levels are evened out by the sound engineer. That’s what a “sound check” is for… There is a live stream version of this song from the same concert with better video and balanced audio.

Yes, I noticed that too. I've seen another concert of theirs online where the balance was really bad and all the background vocals were as loud or even louder than the lead in some places. People in the comments were absolutely brutal. There were a few people who had been at the concert and they were constantly saying "this isn't how it sounded whe we were there", so I think there may be an issue with where they're sat, but also maybe the phone can only do so much with the input it's getting. Where as the professional version (from the live stream) maybe has a direct input and being professional equipment (ie not a cell phone) can handle and translate the nuances much better.

Hi there! This is not the same 5 members that you saw performing at the Sing-Off. Avi Kaplan, their original bass, left the group in 2017 and he now has a solo career ( also worth checking out). Matt Sallee is their bass since 2017. That is the only change in the group since they began. While they won the Sing-Off gained a contract and money from the competition, Sony cancelled the contract a week after they all moved to LA ( the trio Scott, Kirstie and Mitch quitting college , Avi quitting opera training and in Kevin's case, Pre-Med). They scrambled to get their career going by daily practice and posting videos of them singing covers, all sitting on a livingroom couch or in a stairwell ( excellent acoustics!). Eventually some videos went viral and gained them notice with an offshoot of Sony and then their careers really began to take off. The group members: Tall blonde male with the wavy hair = Scott Hoying, baritone Dark-haired male high-pitched voice = Mitch Grassi, countertonor ( Mitch changes his looks often) Female with (currently) dark hair = Kirstin Maldonado ( Kirstie), mezzo soprano. ( Kirstie changes her looks often and is a the mother of a 3 month old baby girl) Black male with the warm low voice = Matt Sallee, bass ( Matt joined the group in 2017) Black male with small beard = Kevin Olusola, tenor, beatboxer, cellist and celloboxer ( plays the cello WHILE BEATBOXING AT THE SAME TIME. Something he invented). Kevin is the musical genius of the group. Yeah...Mitch took a liking to Balanciaga and the overlarge suits...I'm glad to see that for the US tour this year ( and next) he's opted for a far more form-fitting suit. What to do next? They have some 200+ songs to choose from, some are covers and some originals. I recommend Daft Punk medley( there are a few live versions for comparison), Sound of Silence, Mad World, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Love Again ( original), Be My Eyes (original), Coffee In Bed (original), Run To You (original) or pick something from the huge trove of Christmas music, inclding some from their recently released Holidays Around The World (most are audio only except for Prayers For This World, an original). Sorry this was so long!!

The three main vocalists, Scott (tall blonde baritone), Mitch (mustached countertenor), and Kirstin (lady mezzo soprano) knew each other as kids and sang together as The Trio in high school. So they have been singing together for half of their lives. Kevin is the beatboxer/tenor/cellist. Matt is the current bass since the end of 2017. The original bass from 2011-2017 is Avi. He left on good terms and now has a brilliant solo career. Recommend their Bohemian Rhapsody and Sound of Silence. Subscribed.

Welcome to the wonderful rabbit hole known as pentatonix. They won the 2011 sing off and took off from there. They've won 3 grammys for daft punk, dance of the sugar plum fairies, and jolene w/ dolly parton all 3 are highly recomended. There are so many videos in their catalog...way too many to list but I will endevor to give you some choices for future reactions. some covers are Bohemian rhapsody (quite simply the finest cover of that classic rock song), wizard of ahhhs ( a collection of 17 pop songs arranged to tell the classic story of wizard of oz), mad world, the prayer, royals, carol of the bells, say something, radioactive, can you feel the love tonite, problem, evelotion of music, little drummer boy, my favorite things, 12 days of christmas, god rest ye merry gentlemen, and so many more....some originals include...sing, happy now, love me when u dont, coffee in bed, be my eyes, never gonna cry again, the lucky ones.....during the height of the pandemic....they released an album called "at home" (completely recorded in their own homes seperately and then mixed.....songs include...home, blinding lights, when the party's over, dreams, break my heart. Please do more pentatonix reactions. You may run into issues with the video being blocked...just put some sort of filter on the video...we really care about the music. As you do more pentatonix reactions more people will subscribe to your channel as us fans of pentatonix called pentaholics luv seeing people react to their extensive library of videos. The original members of pentatonix are mitch (black haired guy)...scott (blond guy)....kirsty (rhymes with thirsty) female.....Kevin (beatboxer)...and originally they had avi (bass) but he left the group in 2017 for personal reason in good terms and they got matt(bass) to replace him. Also they don't do anything they can't do live.

This is the original line up with only one change in 2017. Avi Kaplan, their original bass left for personal reasons and they added the wonderful, talented, handsome Matt Salee as the new bass. Everyone else is the same but all grown up!

What I like about new videos from Touchy is that he's not only focusing on the music anymore. Carol Of The Bells is a very early one and is a Mitch / Avi fest. I watched The Santa Clause which had carolers singing COTB and I loved it so much I went looking - found Pentatonix and never looked back. You too will wonder if Mitch ever breaths...

They actually are much bigger than you realize. They have three Grammys and we’re just nominated for their fourth this year. They actually have sold 10Million albums (as of 2020 I believe), have almost 20 MILLION KZbin subscribers, have performed with Dolly Parton, Stevie wonder, Kelly clarkson, Jennifer Hudson etc etc lol. They worked their butts off after the sing off have the recording contract but the label dropped them two weeks later. Bet they wish they didn’t make that choice huh? lol

Scott (blond) originally pulled the group together for the TV show. He seems to do a lot of arranging as well. As a baritone, it’s a great way enter a song so he tends to be the starter

For one of their epic anthems, try Can You Feel the Love Tonight or Prayers for this World. For fun, try Come Along or Making Christmas. For their Grammy winners, go for Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies and Jolene with Dolly Parton. And their Christmas music is fabulous! Honestly, any title you pick will be good. As others have noted, the only change in the group is the bass... Avi, the original bass left after their spring/summer 2017 tour and Matt joined them for the 2017 Christmas tour. Mitch and Kirstie are chameleons and often have completely different looks in almost every video, so people sometimes think they're different people until they hear their voices and realize it's the same people.

You called it. Although I don't know whether the group's mentioned it, I do consider Scott as the leader. Mitch is the first guy I've heard who I consider is a true counter tenor. Also, every time I see this video I end up listening to all the full versions of the songs. hahaha! I was in my college years in the early 90s and definitely went clubbing often all throughout the decade.

When the original official video was released it was said that this would be the first song that they performed on video that they couldn’t replicate live in concert because it was so extremely complicated. Well, obviously they worked on it and they performed it live amazingly well.

Hi there, just to correct a few common misconceptions-i know people have told you about the single member change in 11 years, but no, they don't make their living solely on KZbin! These 3 time Grammy winning (with another nomination for the upcoming Grammys), Hollywood Walk of Fame star honorees, have 12 studio albums(including original albums), 5 compilations albums, 6 EPs, over 30 singles & around 60 official music videos. They have, in fact, sold more albums then Ariana Grande & have been headlining massive world tours for years! They helped Dolly Parton win the first Grammy for her song from the 70s, Jolene. So although they, along with Taylor Swift & every other smart musician, use KZbin to promote & release their music, they are not a "KZbin" band. They are a fully developed fantastic band that continues to amaze us! Thanks for the reaction!

Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole!!!! Pentaholics (is what we fans call ourselves) love watching people discover Pentatonix! They have so many covers and also many originals that it is hard to list them all, but I have seen a few recommendations below. Regardless what you choose...you will NOT be disappointed. Just a run down for you folks Mitch-he’s the one that you folks said “that guy has a high voice” he is what we call “high tenor” + he’s the only human can has the octave range of 9 and 3 tones there’s 1 female that has 8 octaves and 2 tones and if you guys heard of a guy that also has about 6-7 octaves and 2 tones that’s the Korean or Japanese singer don’t know much about him except for that everyone else will prolly know who I’m talking about though. Scott-He is a baritone but sometimes will switch with Matt after he sings his part. Kirsty-she is a soprano Kevin-he is the percussionist(which focuses mainly on beats and such)(often sings) Matt-he is the bass (replaced Avi who was the previous bass back in 15-16’

Another thing about mitch is he basically is like dimash when it comes to singing in multiple languages and such and can easily go through all 5 registers of their voices, mitch can of course do whistle notes the best of the best and the highest of any singer both female and male obviously, his range is ridiculous he isn’t even human at all, some people might say he has everything about a girls voice inside his body, that’s how he sings like that and can go really high like it ain’t nothing and trust me listening to him in this mix isn’t even at his best with his high vocals when I say he is the only singer that can reach up to 9 octaves and 3 tones I mean when I say it there’s 1 singer that’s somewhat close and that’s a female singer she has 8 octaves but has 2 tones only then dimash is his name that other singer I mentioned in my last comment he has 6 octaves but I would say 7 and 2 tones maybe he can surprise us all can reach that 8th octave “who knows” but ya there’s a reason why mitch grassi is the highest singer in the world lol not only can he go through all 5 of his registers with ease like it’s nothing, but those pipes on him as well(with them vocals), + he can sing in over 10+ languages + the highest whistle notes also(higher then ariana grande even and there’s another male singer I’m forgetting and Mariah Carey and maybe add Jen in there also)

Pentatonix had a minor change to their roster when Avi Kaplan (their then-bass part) amicably split ways to later be replaced with Matt Sallee. Other than that, they seem to be a pretty steadfast group of friends!

They have a lot of albums and their tours are in filled arenas and stadiums. My favorite part of the live version is when Kevin. (Beat boxer) takes a fans cell phone and turned around and took a selfie with the audience behind him. Classic.

Check out white winter hymnal. The official video with Avi as bass then a recent live version from Ft Worth I think has the best live version. A very simple song but hard to do live. Took them years to get it down to feel comfortable doing it.
