This is a re-release for us. I was finally able to release the version without the words over the video.

You may not like the Casio sound but that solo-though probably improvised- was very well constructed. Emphasising the G 6, 4x was a good way to reassert the harmony. The musicians are having fun, sadly underrated IMHO.
@rachmann5165 ай бұрын
My initial impression was the "feeling" from the groove. Don't care about the genre or trying to put the band in a box. That's an intellectual response IMHO. What it does to me as a sentient being is what matters foremost. And, what I was hearing felt good. I should go to the lyrics next, to get an idea of what the song's message is, but being a musician not a music industry person, I was checking out how well the drums and bass were maintain the groove on the near absolute number of notes to the bar (bass and kick playing whole notes (breve)). There's a slight swing in the groove. Excellent! Didn't smother. My mind is too analytical, in a millisecond I jump back to "feeling" the music and my body is pulsing in sync with the breve!! O wait . . . are we multitasking within this music domain? I think so. One must be careful not to lose sight of the larger picture, if there is one and how far does that stretch. The ultimate picture a musical composition can paint IMHO, is the beauty of the Divine. This was not that, but this was beauty nevertheless. Sync with the Breve!! Lol!!

They are three mates from music school, and what a school. The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm where they studied Jazz and musical composition. The lead singer has an insane range, the Bass player is one of the best I have seen and the drummer is spectacular.

Thanks guys, for that new release video -all perfect now ☺️ Here is an excerpt from an interview with Henrik (bass) on Bass Magazine, Songified, as to the making of this song: Q: “Next to You” has a cool, halftime-shuffle feel and a gospel choir component.” A : “That song took forever to write. Aron and I wrote the chorus in 2016. We found it in a drawer and tried a bunch of new verses with it until we got the right one. Then at the last minute, Aron wrote the gospel choir parts. He sent a very funny demo in which he marked where all the different gospel parts come in and what kind of voice they had. When Jonah recorded them, he had a chalkboard with all the different characters in the choir, and he distorted his voice to match each character and so none of them would sound like him. The groove has our typical, swung-funk, triplet feel, but the key is the Bootsy funk formula of having a heavy one to make all the subdivisions after it work. Aron wrote the chorus bass line, which is keyboard bass-like, and it worked best with a combination of fingers and slapping.” Just to shed some light on their thinking and working process-. As I said in your first release-vid, I’d love for you to take a look at some more Dirty Loops tunes! You saw “Work Shit Out” ☺️ “Rock You” from the same album would be a great next one. 80s feels and MJ vibes for days! So would be their cover of “Thriller” (in a collab with guitarist Cory Wong) 🔥😱☠️🔥 Cheers 🙏

That was a nice presentation - I enjoy both of your vibes, you seem like good people 😊. Funny, I LOVE the “Casio” sounding keyboard solo. One thing to know about these guys - they have an awesome sense of humor. They don’t try to stay in a specific genre, they just make masterpieces. They were sorta going all in on the 80s arena anthem style here. I got the sense that you both were stuck on trying to classify then into a category rather than just taking it in for what it is. I checked your channel, I see you gave up on them? I’d humble ask you to check out more stuff so you see their range and sheer genius and talent. Here are some of the best songs: Work Shit Out, Hit Me, Follow the Light, Breakdown, Thriller (Michael Jackson cover), and many others. Hope you jump back in, thanks for the entertainment!

Jonah's keyboard is a Korg X50 (I have 2 of them). The X50 uses Korg's highest end sound engine, the Triton. There isn't a sound it can't reproduce! To say it sounds like a Casio (cheap) is like saying the Hope Diamond looks like paste from K-Mart. But, you couldn't have known that other than from the Grand Piano preset Jonah used at the end, which might have given you a clue. Just a little FYI. You'll miss the most extraordinary music today if you don't continue to explore the VAST MUSICAL WORLD of Dirty Loops on YT. Good Luck.
@TouchyReactions Жыл бұрын
People continue to misunderstand what we are saying. We have no doubt that they are playing on the highest quality instruments. The sound they chose to use for that solo sounded like an old keyboard from the 80s. That's all we were saying. It wasn't an insult. We were just making an observation.
@codygiron7814 Жыл бұрын
@@TouchyReactions What’s interesting is that Jonah has been using the X50 since they started posting to KZbin which I believe was in either 2011 or 2014. He uses at least half a dozen different Korg instruments - right up to their very highest end keyboard - which I’m assuming the company provides because what could be better promotion than to hear a virtuoso like him doing their products such justice.

@kingvii7250 I've heard numerous other reactors call that sound Casio. It simply refers to the old keyboard you could buy in the 80's that had a very similar sound profile. That you don't understand that, even after these reactors explained it several times in the video, says more about your child-like mind than anything.
