Absolutely same for me. It's such a tragic thing. They both remember those days of happiness and love very clearly. It's simply just too painful for them to share the memories with each other, since it'll remind them of how much those feelings have slowly faded away with time. How much they don't feel like they can be to each other, what they once were.

What a great choice for your second Springsteen reaction! Thank you for posting the lyrics. Bruce has taken us on quite a ride since the seventies - sometimes personal to him, other times observational. The angst of youth, the need to escape, fast cars, finding yourself, dating, job insecurity, war, inequality, love, heartbreak, family, depression and joy. He writes so beautifully. That's one reason his concerts are such a communal event. Plus, he leaves it all out on the stage. I haven't been to a concert in a long time, but if I remember correctly, he chose to never have corporate sponsors like so many of the other touring acts. He did it all himself and that gave him the freedom to do what he wanted and say what he wanted.
@cfraase4 жыл бұрын
Yes, still no corporate sponsors today and he never lets them be used for commercials either. He fought to own all his own music rights. He lets them be used for things he believes in, but not randomly for cash.

The look on your face Sir was look on my face some 50 years ago when "Growing Up" came over my radio. A young teenager, I just froze, never hearing anything like that before, and, I was SO hooked!! Now in my 60's, a veteran of 30 plus shows, or should I say a survivor of the 4 hour marathons, I can't imagine my life without the music and inspiration of Bruce Springsteen and as he says "The Heart stopping, pants dropping, house rocking, earth quaking, booty shaking Viagara taking, love making, LEGENDARY E STREET BAND!!! I had to laugh when you showed the "Soprano's" at the start, since E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt played "Silvio" on the show. Small world, eh...........welcome to E Street!!!!

I could not agree more. Unfortunately I discovered him a bit late. 1980. I was 14. There simply is no greater artist, no one who had survived a 50 plus yr career and still producing new, powerful and relevant music while most other artists live off their hits from way in the past.

saw bruce and the e street band in the early 80's at Wembley London and its still the best concert i've ever seen, just under 4 hours of energy and brilliance. Big Clarence stepping to the front of the stage as the crowd rose as one still brings a smile of wonder. Other bands i have seen over the years could learn from Springsteen as they play their bare hour or so money makers

I was living in Allentown, PA in the mid 1980s. It was a steel town. Mac trucks was there and supplied a lot of the jobs. The jobs were moving south (listen to Billy Joel's Allentown). Every night it seemed on the news there was some guy who had lost a job and killed his family and then killed himself. It was depressing. I stayed about a year and a half and moved to Washington state. A lot of the jobs are based out of NYC (I worked for one of those companies out of NYC) and the area is doing better. Have two sisters still there. The cost of office space is so high in NYC and Allentown is only about 90 miles from it. I'd go into NYC once to three times a month. The men really had a problem with their wives finding work and not them. Crazy time.

Thank you very much for your reaction. That's exactly what I felt the first time I listened it. He was well known, a famous rocker and he just did it like this, simply, without artifices with an harmonica (beautiful) and a simple orchestration. And his way of singing so just, so humble.... And for me that's when I told myself he was the boss. This song is really special to me because it was the first time I was confronted to unemployement in my family. And thinking that someone like Springteen could sing this song was comforting. Now I would like you to react to a different singer and song. His name is Sixto Rodriguez. His story is really special. At the time he was compared to Bob Dylan. Below the link to one of his song and another "wikipedia" for his story. "When a so not famous singer became a legend and a symbol of resistance in South Africa, during Apartheid". Warning : Perhaps there is a more modern version of his songs now but it's the ancient version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXypnJZnbrlmes0 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixto_Rodriguez

It’s pronounced Spring-teen. I love the boss.✨Bob Seger is also a big one back in the 70’s 80’s. Seger has great songs also “ Turn the Page” Night Moves” Like a Rock” Ol time Rock & Roll” Main Street. You weren’t cool back then unless you listen to the Boss & Seger. You’ll love his music to. Seger is from Detroit & he gave a song to GM to help them & that song “Like a Rock” sold a lot of Chevy Trucks. He is a big one you need to check out. 👍

Hello Hap3, so glad that you are doing another Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen, and I never mind when you waffle. So interesting hearing the back stories to songs like this. Bruce is very much a storyteller when he sings. I hope you will take a listen to Dancing in the Dark, a "friend" joins him on this one. It was my first intro to him. This was a time when MTV actually played music videos. I was quite young, but I had such a crush on him 😍. If possible, and if you are so inclined, would give a listen to a really amazing female artist Pat Benetar, Promises in the Dark. I promise will enjoy the listen. Really enjoying your content. Stay well and stay safe. 😊👍

I hadn’t heard this version, tho I saw a show on that your. Bruce is a master at writing big - and its all in anchored in the details. He can make the personal mythic. It is inspired by his sister and brother in-law - but it’s made universal because he seems to inhabit the feel of an entire shared experience. It’s also, to me a continuation of Thunder Road. The girl in that song is younger; the River is what happens when dreams of youth collide with diminished options, burdens.

On an interesting side note, one of the boys in the E-Street band was Steve Van Zant, who played guitar and mandolin. He is a friend of Angelina Jordan and her family. He was the lead character in the TV series "Lillehammer" and gave Angelina brief roles in a couple of episodes where she played a singer in a club. There is a video of one of her performances, but it is less than satisfactory because there was too much else going on. Angelina has pictures of them together on her Facebook and Instagram pages. Steve was also in the American TV series The Sopranos.

So surprised that you weren't familiar with The Boss, but now that is actually good news. Now we can join you to discover his music, his melodies and lyrics, his storytelling and performances. I think you will enjoy this journey, and it can be a long one like the one you have with Queen. And Springsteen is absolutely in the same class as Queen but in a different setting. Already I think you have done some good reactions and analyzes on the Boss There are too many songs to mention in one comment so I will only leave two of his big ones for this one. Dancing in the dark - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2OcnKh6eLanftU (Do you recognize the girl in the video?) Born in the USA - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4HLiIVqmZh5gLM More links will come in your next reactions. ;-) Bruce is a storyteller and a performer, and he always gives 100% on stage for his fans. His concert last for 3-4 hours every time, even now when he has turned 71 years.
