Saw him live many times between 1988 and 2014. Nobody came close. There was him and then everyone else.

As you know, it was raining during that show. Before he even got to the stadium, his manager asked him if there was anything that he could do for him or to accommodate him better in any way. His reply was, " Make It Rain harder"... priceless, Epic reaction!

I just happened to win tickets to the Superbowl the year he performed, so I got to witness that performance live and in person! Sitting in the pouring rain while he sang Purple Rain is by far the most epic moment of my life!

For me Prince is THE guy. THE musician, THE performer, THE artist, THE guy. He is IT. The argument for the greatest of all time is 100% subjective, and for me it's Prince. You can make arguments for other artists, and i"m not gonna knock anyone who does, but Prince will forever and always be the artist who I think no one will ever touch and will ever come close to touching. He just had it all in a way that no other artist seems to match up to. And im 24 so he's not really even "of my generation" but damn do I miss him and I revere him in a way that no one else comes close to.

There’s so many great Prince songs to discover. Check out ‘The Question of U’ , ‘Bambi’, and ‘‘The Ride” , oh and ‘Empty Room Live 2009 at the Montreaux Jazz Festival’ and his ‘Creep’ at Coachella is a must too.

I also love how he interprets covers. He adds his unique flavor; like his impressive cover of Radiohead's CREEP. This Superbowl performance was epic.

Fantastic reaction video. So many great recommendations already. Play that funky music live 2011. Bambi 1990, purple rain both live in Syracuse and at the music awards in 85. Let's go crazy live in 88!!! There is just much Prince history to catch up on. His live shows were the absolute best. There will never be anyone quite like him in the history of music!!

Prince was on pain killers for chronic hip pain caused by years of dancing and jumping off speakers and pianos, etc. wearing 3 inch heels. Probably because he couldn’t get enough pain meds through the doctor he got some other pain pills and some were laced with Fentanyl. He died of an accidental fentanyl overdose 4/21/2016 at the age of 57.
@cflournoy15292 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for intelligently explaining Prince’s situation. Some people are stuck on the fact that he was some kind of drug addict lurking in the alley for a fix🤦🏽♀️ That definitely was not the case.
@lesal.13732 ай бұрын
Thank you! I truly wished he had a really good and discreet Pain Management Dr. The anti opioid industry has made that impossible. Almost all street pills are fakes, with illicit fentanyl as their main ingredient. He was managing his pain not chasing a high.

I’m sure it’s up here somewhere it was the first time it had rain at the Super Bowl in over 50+ years. Torrential downpour. So they called Prince that morning and they asked if there was anything he wanted to do you know precautionary stuff. Prince’s response “ Can you make it rain harder” This the most epic performance of purple rain

Too many to name, but you can try these: "Santana Medley (live) - Prince & The NPG"; "Bambi (Live at the Tokyo Dome 1990)"; "Creep" - Prince at Coachella 2008"; "Prince Shhh at Coachella"; "Prince Motherless Child Live!"; "Dreamer - Live • Prince" (Jay Leno); "Prince - Stratus & All Shook Up (Montreux Jazz Festival 2009 - Show 2)"; "Prince - Anotherloverholenyohead" (with Rock Lobster instrumental; NFL SB Press Conference 2007) 🎶

And now you have to return to average halftime shows. The brilliance is on display especially with his choice setlist Coming in with a foot stomping hand clapping intro that evvvverybody knows, plays his well know hits from the. Purple Rain era, Let's Go Crazy, Baby I'm A Star, Purple Rain at the end. Brings in great songs that can be recognized by two different fan bases, check it. 'Proud Mary' - Tina Turner/CCR, 'All Along The Watchtower' - Bob Dylan/Jimi Hendrix 'Best Of You' - Foo Fighters/Dave Grohl Nirvana Tidbits - Purple Rain in the rain, outfit colors a shout out to Miami Dolphins where this Super Bowl is being played, no one was electrocuted, live singing and live instruments with no back up recordings if things went south, the marching band was FAMU marching 100 well know in Florida and another brilliant Prince idea, to this day this performance is still considered the best halftime show ever! Good choice Liv4luv 0(+->

When Prince played Coachella he covered "Come Together" and "Creep". It's bootleg footage, but it's still worth checking out. I also recommend checking out "Purple Rain" and "Let's Go Crazy" from the 1985 Syracuse concert. Good stuff.

Prince has been considered a top 20 guitarist for a LONG time. Go google Rolling Stone and other such lists. Ask Billy Gibbons or Eric Clapton what they think of him. Both are on record. Plus, go ahead with any list of the top 50 guitarists. Can ANY of them do all the things he did (playing all the instruments, writing award winning songs for others, dancing like he does, etc.)? "No" is the correct answer. He was the GOAT, bar none.

Most musicians play all their greatest hits when they have the biggest audience in the world. What does Prince do? He plays a bunch of cover tunes. He really only cared about putting on the greatest show with the greatest music that he could.

i think this is a bit like all those artists back in the day like Van Gogh etc.. i mean sure Prince had a bit of success but i just dont know what all the fuss is about, he is of my era and we just called him a poor mans Michael Jackson, we were spoiled for choice back then, to say he is the best ever is a far stretch
@glennmccullough44342 ай бұрын
NO ONE called him a poor man's Micheal Jackson. They were 2 completely different types of artists. Jackson was a entertainer, Prince was a musician. Micheal didn't play any instruments and didn't write most of his songs. Prince, wrote, produced, played all the instruments, EVERYTHING on his albums. Just because Jackson sold more records, doesn't make him better.
@iancremmins47272 ай бұрын
@@glennmccullough4434 just saying it the way it is mate, just because you didnt hear it doesnt mean it didnt happen, back then it was common for artists to play multiple instruments

MJ couldn't hold a candle to Prince...hahaha. MJ was an entertainer...that's it. Prince WAS music. I'm 53 and never ever ever heard the term a poor man's MJ. in fact. We ditch Michael when Prince came out. It was so obvious that he was a superior writer and performer.
@iancremmins47272 ай бұрын
@@swgroove he wasnt the best ever, the numbers say it all, i am not saying he wasnt talented i am just saying everyone is making a bigger fuss now than back then, you say you are 53 so you would have been 11 when prince hit the scene, i was in my mid 20's, so i had a better understanding of what was going on then, of course you can look back now and form an opinion its subjective just like mine but mine isnt based on what i read, its based on my experience
