Will you still love me was originally recorded by the Shirelles. Stay was originally recorded by The Zodiacs back in 1960. Personally, my favorite cover of Will you still love me was recorded in the 80s by Laura Branigan. Tim has a 5 octave range though I swear sometimes he is trying his best to push it to 8 by inventing new notes at the bottom end.
@rosemary7020012 жыл бұрын
Love those versions too, but the ones I prefer are Carole King’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” from her “Tapestry” album. Carole wrote the song for Shirelles during the early part of her career. The very best version of that is with James Taylor and Carole together!! Also, The Four Seasons version of “Stay,” with Frankie Valli’s falsetto that no one can beat. Both songs keep getting musical updates with every generation! Proves the staying power of good, lyrics, good melodies, and good taste!

This style was known as, Doo-Wop. It's a form of Rhythm & Blues that started in a few of the large cities in the late 1940s and peaked in popularity during the mid-50's through the early 60's. Many of them were A cappella groups.

Another great rendition by Tim Foust. Love his new cd with all the older doo-wop songs. His voice really suits this genre of music. We know he can really bring the bass but how about his falsetto? People, falsetto, is when you force your voice through a note you can't carry without straining and pushing into a "false" note for you. Not one note in this song was falsetto for Tim. Why do people automatically assume a guy who sings high is using falsetto? He doesn't, Eddie mercury didn't, Elvis didn't, Pavarotti nor alfie Boe.tim started out as a high tenor when his voice changed at puberty it got real low. He did voice exercised to keep His high range. Sorry, I was in chorus, and I hate the term falsetto being thrown around when someone simply has a wide range.

Repeat after me: Foust's range extends from A0-A5. We are so used to hearing the chest/growl part of his range that we are shocked by the head/falsetto part, but Foust was a tenor until he was well into his teens. When his voice dropped, he simply widened his range.

What ye gotta understand is that ALL basses were once tenors/supranos. It takes a little practice, but, fer me, my bass gets better once I get the rust off with some high notes first. See, basses are like big knives.....a big knife can do everything a little one can, but a little one can't do what a biggun can. Basses can go high, but high boys can't really get low with anything but subharmonics cause they can't do chest notes that low.
