This is one of those times when the cosmic tumblers click into place and the universe opens to show you what's possible. The band and Stevie and JC were true to the muse this night and everything was perfection. After JC's solo you hear SRV give two sharp upstrokes, that is a huge sign of admiration and respect for the man. This may be the most perfect performance ever caught from SRV.

Reason they were laughing at the end was because Johnny forgot the words and he improvised. Also reason SRV shook his finger.

One of the things I love about Stevie is he loves to share the stage with other artists. He shows so much respect to the ones that come before him he loved their music and wants his fans to hear them .

Unfortunately Johnny died 1 year after heart transplant at 60 yrs old. Musicians held benefit concerts to help him defray his medical bills, as he had years of heart problems, bypasses etc. His daughter is a blues singer. RIP Stevie and Johnny~❤

What a great way to start the day 💙💙🎸🎶‼️. Thank you! Such a classic piece of work. At this level and caliber of musicianship, there isn't any competition just immense pleasure in performing together. There wasn't anything Stevie enjoyed better than to share the stage with musicians he grew up listening to and they loved him back. BB King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, all admired, respected, and loved Stevie. He was such a humble guy and always gave credit to where the music came from and who made it. Stevie's vocals change to suit the mood and tone of whatever song so it doesn't always sound the same. Love his vocals in Life Without You and Ain't Gone 'N" Give Up On Love, both from the Capitol Theatre 1985. Both are compositions are Stevie's and are epic. As far as all the sweating goes you have to remember there was no A/C in those days and those lights are hot! He was very pale at El Macambo as he had just received IV fluids for dehydration before going on stage and still gave a performance of a lifetime. It would still be another year from this concert before he rehabbed and recovered and was very proud and happy with his hard won sobriety. He spent the last 4 years of his life encouraging and helping others to do the same. He counseled and supported those who sought him out and he inspired lots of people to quit. Bonnie Rait was good friends with Stevie and when he got sober she knew it was time for her to stop as well. His Austin City Limits TV performance in 1989 shows his vibrant healthy self and every song from there is 🎸🔥🎶💯 Reacting once a week would make us a lot happier😉✌️🎸🎶💙‼️💯

The more I hear about SRV the more I realise what a truly lovely guy he must have been, really not fair for someone so nice and talented to be taken away so early in his life. Imagine how big he would be if he was still going now! Ahh yer of course...all those lights+lots of people-AC = unbearable

But thanks to KZbin and reactors like yourself, he is more widely known and appreciated now than before he left us. There are not as many videos of he and BB King together but sending one of the better quality videos from the New Orleans Jazz Festival. So you've never actually seen BB King perform or heard any of his music? It would seem you have a true affinity for the Blues💙 and you owe it to yourself to explore more of the OG's even if you don't react online to them. It is a journey I believe you will truly enjoy. 🎸💙🎶💙. Another mentor of Stevie's is Albert King. There is a whole 90 minute recording studio session that was filmed between a young Stevie and his idol Albert and the whole session is a treasure of pleasure. Thanks Azimoz.. a mesmerizing performance... SRV was a generous performer and always gave credit to the classic "old guard"... and they loved playing with him.. I don't think that these guitar geniuses really felt "competitive" - but more like "honored" to play with each other ... Isn't that what true musicianship is? Stevie did absolutely respect the OG Bluesman. He was once furious when he arrived at the venue to find BB King already on stage as the opening act! He felt that was totally disrespectful and made it known it should never happen again.
