This is Xdinary Heroes' first FULL METAL song. Their usual stuff varies from rock to ballads, with other influences in there, too. But again, this is their first FULL metal song. They have never played this dark and hard before. You spoke about their drummer. That's Gunil (aka Gun-il). He's amazing, but his performance and STUNNING beats on INSTEAD! are a whole new level of his skills. BTW, he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston on a scholarship. He specialized in drums while he was there. Gunil was actually contacted by JYP because they saw some of his online videos where he posted his covers of other artists' drumming. Day6 (another Korean rock band with JYP) was on tour in the U.S., and they were going to be in Boston. So the JYP people asked Gunil to meet with them at the hotel where Day6 was staying so they could talk to him about becoming an idol for a new band they were forming. They asked him to do an on-the-spot drumming audition right there in the hotel. Of course, he passed.

Looks like I found them at just the right time then 😝 hopefully they continue to experiment with heavier sounds. Yeah he’s a great drummer! Thank you for the backstory though - that’s wild he had to do an audition right there on the spot! 🖤

"Strawberry Cake" is a song I never would have thought 'oh yes, rock' but seriously, it's one of my favorites of theirs. "Freakin' Bad" is also just so freakin' good! Excited to see you delve more into them, I'm still learning about them myself.

the „tomato“ is actually an apple! the word for apple in korean means both apple and apology so the whole replacing famous artworks w apple faces is to help further underline the lyrics of the song. really creative!

To clear up things they’re a rock band so not kpop😊 they are under a kpop company and promote like a kpop group but are a band. They’re so talented yet underrated, they deserve more recognition. All of their albums are really good and they do a lot of different rock and music styles so I don’t know what to recommend, however money on my mind is a fan favourite and they have concert clips foe a couple of their songs as well as money on my mind so you can hear them play live. Thx for the reaction!

they consider themselves as idols and a rock band so they're technically also kpop!
@AlexLeeGamezzz4 ай бұрын
This is an ongoing debate within the community, imo I think if they also have said they can be considered K-pop (which they have) then it isn’t wrong to say it. I personally say kpop/rock
@mormel804 ай бұрын
It’s really difficult 😂 because Kpop is also not really a genre. They’re a band let’s leave it at that loll
@GmmBeast4 ай бұрын
At this point, kpop is just an umbrella term for any music that's sung in Korean or from a Korean label that follows the same methods of promoting. It can include really any genre. I absolutely consider XH k-pop because of their visuals, their behavior, and how they promote. They have said that they are idols. And calling them k-pop also appeals to a larger audience than solely calling them a rock band, which turns some people off.

thank you for reacting to xdinary heroes!! and if you're wondering, they're kpop AND a rock band! while they are a band, they also consider themselves as idols. thank you for showing appreciation to our drummer and leader, gunil! he's quite the skilled drummer considering he graduated from berklee majoring in drums. i'd love to see you check out more from them! especially break the brake, love and fear or money on my mind (the concert video)!

Yoon Do Hyun and his band are legends in the Korean rock scene….they’re basically the Metallica of Korea (imo) But despite him being 52 years old he’s still kicking it in the industry! XH aren’t really a kpop group…. They’re a band…. Just like Day6 and The Rose… I think XH are gonna change a lot of things in the industry 🔥 Now As someone who has been listening to metal/alternative/screamo music since I was 11 and kpop since 2018….. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED MORE OF 🔥🔥🔥 I think this is the best song I’ve heard so far this year- So glad you enjoyed this!

What's even more impressive is the fact that this is their first fully metal track and managed to kill it on their first try! (They've dabbled with heavier instrumentation before but they fully dipped into it with this one). As to the one you mentioned that reminded you of Chester, his name's Jungsu. Genuinely one of my favorite voices along with Jooyeon (the bassist, specifically the one with black lipstick). They're very experimental with their sound, they've got a little bit of everything in their discography.

But I would like to introduce you to the whole discography of Xdinary Heroes. And also about how they evolve their music. In terms of music, we can see that they started out more pop rock-ish vibe.. mainly to introduce themselves to mainstream appeal. But as the time goes on, and they gain loyal fan base called VILLAINS, their music slowly and steadily becomes heavier especially with heavier distorted guitars, which for me I think helped shaped their identity and for me makes Xdinary Heroes unique and set apart to a lot of Kpop rock bands and Korean rock bands out there, who mostly prefer softer pop rock sound. Once again Thank you so much for reacting to their song

Xdinary Heroes stands for extra ordinary heroes. It means anyone can be a hero. The first song I heard from them was their debut song Happy Death Day. But KNOCKDOWN is probably my favorite. Even though they are new they make me feel nostalgic for the rock music I grew up listening to with my dad. Next time I visit i plan to show him (he liked SKZ when I showed him them)

Xdinary heroes are amazing, as has been mentioned they're a K-band so kinda both kpop and a traditional band. This is XH's heaviest song so far, they mostly inhabit the rock genres but i know their lead vocalist claimed to be learning how to scream so we may get more Metal later on. My favorite songs personally are: Strawberry Cake Money on my mind Paint it Crack in the mirror Man in the box Bicycle Break the break Its a lot but for me at least, they have an almost perfect discography. I think the only song im not a huge fan of is test me, it was their first comeback and the b-side strawberry cake had more views than the music video so they put out a music video like a month after that song came out. They also have covers of Hellevator (stray kids) Drown (BMTH) Tomboy (G-idle)
