This song was very popular in the US in the mid 80’s, you could listen to a lot of cars driving and jamming this song at full volume!

I had this on repeat back in the day .. let me tell you ! Hints of early techno and dance as early as the mid 80s - there in the use of modified sounds, glitches and beeps. Kind of a mash up of Kraftwerk but more so Giorgio Moroder and 70s disco. Hidden gem indeed.

The synthesizer shown is the Roland SH-101. This synthesizer is monophonic with no presets or memory. The SH-101 will cost you $600 plus used. The SH-101 is very collectable and in demand. Roland makes a boutique reissue of the SH-101

I think you'd enjoy the Belgium New Beat, a typical genre of music that reigned from 1987 to 1997. The New Beat has been broken down into several subgroups: New Beat, House Music, Techno, Acid Music, Trance, Hardcore. Some masterhits are "Hmm Hmm" from Taste of Sugar, "It's a Dream" from Amnesia, "Superfly Guy" from S'Express, Move Your Feet To The Rhythm Of The Beat" from Hithouse, "Move Your Ass And Feel The Beat" from Erotic Dissidents, "I Sit On Acid" from Lords of Acid, "Rave the Rhythm" from Channel X (you can hear this track in Basic Instincts), "The Dream" from Acts of Madmen, "Coccaine" from The Maxx, "Too Nice To Be Real" from T 99, and soooo many others. You can't ignore the New Beat if you want to cover the late eighties.

Awesome song and reaction! I was wondering, have you ever reacted to Kraftwerk? They are from Germany and they were big in the 70's, their music style was Synthiepop, their hits included: "Autobahn" or "Das Model".

You definitely should check italo disco stuff. It's a whole new world, naive, bright, sunny and slightly wacky lol :D The synths may be dated, the lyrics may be gibberish sometimes and the accents are ridiculous, but the melodies are AWESOME. I'd recommend P. Lion - Happy Children, Valerie Dore - Get Closer, Albert One - Secrets, Radiorama - Aliens and many many more

Ah yes, New Wave... that was soo beautifully weird, and very brief, 1981-83 i think? I am thinking Peter Schilling (Major Tom), Nena (99 Luftballons), DÖF, Trans-X, early OMD, etc.

I wish you would’ve done the French version, Vivre Sur Vidéo. It’s even better in my opinion cause the singer’s voice sounds different and better in it. It just has more punch than the English version.

@@v.j.3029Just listened to it.I prefer the English version on the male vocal part cause it's less "theatrical" and don't fit the song the way the singer performs it in French. But the female singing part in French is unbeatable and sounds far better than the English version. It's gives a more exotic sense and the girls' voice sounds quite sensual. So i'm "torn between the two versions lol.Wish the guy sung in French same "punctual" way he performed it as in the English version. That would be perfect to my ears.French language and accent is so beautiful btw.Thanx a lot for the info.
