You nailed it at the end. With his talent, he should be all over the radio. He wont make regular radio. The record labels cant stand him because he cant be bought. Big machine (taylor swift former label and 1 of the biggest in Nashville) tried to sign him. They offered him a lambo as a "gift". He came back to the 2nd meeting driving a lambo he bought. He later took that to one of his concerts and had the fans sign it. Then put clear coat over it to protect the signatures. Because they cant get him to sign, hes been black balled by the industry. Elton john has a show on sirius. He shouted out upchurch and played his song a couple years ago. "My neck of the woods". He has a song (very old school country) "black sheep". In that video, he shows a lot od the articles written about him.

That whole Pioneer album is great. Bloodline, Desperado, Silver Circles, Pioneer....This is why Upchurch is great. Every album is a different style, he's always switching it up. What you really haven't experienced in the limited exposure is that Upchurch is up there with Eminem as a lyricist.

I think the line that best describes church is "im a five speed ford to a six figure foreign ". I think it refers back to when he net with big machine records and they offered him a contract. He showed up in a loud ass old mustang. His arm was wrapped in bandages because he got into some poision sumac when he was out in the woods. The company told him they would have in a lambo soon if he signed. He told them he wanted to take the contract home and look it over. He left and went and bought himself a lambo. He has the contract which is already signed by the record company in a frame on the wall of his house. Check out upchurchs teack "legend" and his cover of alice and chains track "nutshell". (Alice in chains is his favorite band)

Upchurch doesn't get as much credit as he should. He is an extremely talented musician. One of few artists that EVERY album can be played clear through and there isn't a bad song on any of them. I have too many favorites. His new album Turbulence is fire!! 🔥 Check out his version of Morgan Wallens Wasted on you and Sand in my boots. In my opinion, Church's version of both are better. Go down the Upchurch rabbit hole, you won't be disappointed.

Im from and srill live right outside Philadelphia. Was never much if a country fan either, vut between Upchurch and the tv show Yellowstone, Ive found alot of country that I really like. In his documentary his mom mentions how on a rainy day , all the kids were stuck inside. She wanted her kids to be crestive so she gave them markers and said they could draw on the table. In this video you can see the drawings on the table top. He nentions in a video thst in their trailer they had beads hanging up in a doorway. I dont know if this was filmed in his old trailer or if they just made it look that way
