What's fun is that the original artist, Miracle of Sound, watched and listened to their version. They rated it 10 raised ale horns out of 10. Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay and Geoff!

They are known as the "The Theatre Kids" and have been around longer than Pentatonix, but because they are 100% independent, they do not get the recognition they deserve. They have a large catalog with a wide variety of genres, from Disney to Metallica. Hope you check out more of VoicePlay.

Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbithole! Many of their songs are very different from this one, but there's not a bad one in the bunch; pick any video in their channel that looks interesting and you will not be disappointed. Yes, J.None is the rapper--he's a former member who often returns to perform with them as a guest artist, and they have a whole constellation of great artists who'll come in and fill that fifth slot. Some other general favorites are Nothing Else Matters, Hoist the Colours, The Way You Make Me Feel, We Don't Talk About Bruno and The Lion Sleeps Tonight, but that's just for starters. The shocking earthquake generator's name is Geoff Castellucci, and he has a five-octave range and his own channel full of amazing multi-part covers he creates by himself. Liked and subscribed, I hope to see you react to more from them!

What makes VP unique is that they are independent - so they can follow their own creative path. They do almost everything themselves - including the video direction. They have no instruments in this one - just perhaps some multi-tracks. The beatboxer is Layne Stein (awesome), the bald tenor is Eliezer (Eli - like "jelly") Jacobson, the rapper (and guest, but he was a member before he joined the Navy where he sings bass!) is J.None, the mohawk dude is baritone Cesar de la Rosa (we love him!) and the bass is of course Geoff (pr. "Jeff") Castellucci. He also has his own channel. Geoff has a 5-octave range and hit a 15sec B0 in this song. Having said that - all the members of Voiceplay has insane ranges! They are also probably the oldest acapella group and have the widest genre range. I love their rock covers, but their other gaming covers (like this one) are also incredible. They do not ever do sub par. They are known for their Disney covers as well as being the Kings of Halloween... but they do everything in between as well. Definitely get on this bus - it's a wild ride 😉 Thank you for giving them a go/chance. 🌹🕊

Left to right outside.... Layne Stein - beatboxer, baritone, arrangements. Cesar De La Rosa - baritone, tenor. J None - guest, former member, baritone. US Navy Chorus. Eli (el lee) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting, arrangements. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass, arrangements. Solo channel. Geoff has his own channel with instruments and sound effects. He has a 5+ range. Super high and super low. He usually just does bass with Voiceplay. On his channel he does most all of his ranges. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name, personality and range.... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl. The first 3 got their names in his video "Way Down" 2 years ago. Daryl got his name in his video "Ghost Riders In The Sky". Geoff and Voiceplay have tons of amazing videos. They are both known as The Theater Kids of Acapella and The Kings of Halloween because of their love of dressing up and performing. They have a theme for every video and wear costumes to match the video and song. They did Thriller by Michael Jackson for Halloween this year. It was amazing. Geoff did Vincent Price's narration. They are independent so do everything themselves from concept to public release and beyond. Except intricate makeup, cameras and audio mixing. Voiceplay and Geoff both released their Christmas videos on their Patreons Friday and Saturday. They are absolutely amazing. A year ago they did "Sleeping In The Cold Below" by Warframe video games. They liked it so much they asked VP to do a video for their new Warframe game Warframe 1999. They give more info about it in their teaser short they released yesterday. All 3 will be premiering sometime this month soon.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Voice Play. The bass singer is Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci and he has an amazing 5 octave range. I have subscribed for more VoicePlay & hopefully Geoff reactions. VoicePlay are known as the theater kids of acapella. They are my favorite of the acapella groups. J None was a member of VoicePlay and he left to join the Navy Choir so when he gets time off, he will guest sing with VoicePlay. VoicePlay are totally independent and make the videos with the help of their patrons. for VoicePlay, I would recommend: "Hoist The Colors", "The Drunken Sailor", "Hellfire", "Be Prepared", "Nothing Else Matters", "Thriller", "Seven Nation Army", "Creep" "The Dragonborn Comes" and "In the Air Tonight". They have a huge catalog of songs from Disney to Rock. No matter what you choose, you won't go wrong. for Geoff, I would recommend: "16 Tons", "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold", "I See Fire", "Song of Durin", "Jack's Lament" & "Ain't No Sunshine". Again, no matter what you choose, you won't go wrong. Geoff will clone himself in his videos and sings all the harmonies. Enjoy the rabbit hole.

VoicePlay are amazing. Unlike Pentatonix and Home Free, they don't limit themselves to any genre; they can and do perform more or less everything. They are the kind of group that, if they feel like covering Metallica a cappella, then by golly, that's what they'll do. (And they did- Nothing Else Matters is one of their most viewed videos) They have no problem putting a trap beat into a classical piece, and they make it sound *good* (In the Hall of the Mountain King). And everything you see and hear comes from those guys on the screen, because VoicePlay are 100% independent artists who arrange their own songs, sing them, conceptualize, film and edit the videos, create all the sets etc-- the guys are so multitalented it's almost absurd. As far as where to go next, I'd say just find something that appeals to you and start there. There really isn't a bad song in their catalog, although I will say you can see a certain progression in their music if you compare an old video/song with one of their newer ones. But even their old videos can still impress people. Oh, and since no one has mentioned it yet, Mr. Subwoofer is Geoff Castellucci. He was singing down as low as a B0 in this piece- that's the second white key on a piano keyboard. While his lows are astounding, you will also be surprised when you hear how high he can go as well. He has a solo channel, where he performs (non-acappella) songs and overdubs his voice multiple times to create some lovely harmonies; you would be forgiven for thinking it was 4 separate people. Honestly, you just have to hear one of his songs to fully grasp all this; Geoff's is a once in a lifetime voice.

VoicePlay's arrangements are unique. Each member has a phenomenal range, so they don't toss a vocal line from one to the next as it moves from, for instance, baritone to tenor, but stay with it and weave it together with the others. They are also incredibly creative rhythmically - and that, too, helps them build their sound and makes it "bigger." Now you have to check out Geoff Castellucci, the bass. He has a separate channel that's just him... and he's mind-blowing. Everything he does is phenomenal - I'd recommend Ain't No Sunshine to get an idea of his range and capacity. But anything that catches your eye is good.

VoicePlay. I fell down the rabbit hole almost five years ago. Gave them the #TheatreKidsOfAcapella and instantly became a patron of both VoicePlay and Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci the bass on his own channel where he does his own low bass covers. They never disappoint the same with Geoff.

Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole ! They are (for the most part) totally a cappella-when they do use instruments, you see them: Layne the beatboxer plays the violin, and sometimes they use props like chains for added percussion. There is a lot of audio production on their recent stuff, but if you want to see them do something live, I would recommend checking out their “Road Trip” from the Sing Off tour. It’s older, but it’s comedy gold! Whatever you choose to listen to next, I hope you enjoy it!

I LOVE seeing people's first reactions! and you and I learned of Voiceplay and Geoff (Jeff) with the same video! Valhalla Calling was also my first introduction to Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci (Bass). First it was like....who is that BASS?! And then I saw him and I was like.... 000h hello handsome! But yes welcome to the Rabbithole that is Voiceplay and Geoff who has a solo channel too! I would definitely recommend My Mother Told Me (vikings like this but before Valhalla), Hoist the Colours, Oogie Boogie Song and for Geoff solos: Sixteen Tons, Jack's Lament, Country Roads and Unshaken. But really you can't go wrong with any songs that Voiceplay does or Geoff does. If you look at a picture of all next to each other, the names are (from Left to Right) Layne (Beatboxer), Cesar (Baritone), J. None (Baritone but he used to be a full member before he left to join a navy A Capella group), Eli (Pronounced like Ellie, his full name is Eliezar. Tenor and resident rock god) and Geoff (Bass, but also called Human Subwoofer, Human Fog/warhorn, Dragon or Demon for his ability to sing way down into the depths of hell. He has an insane range though! This will show in Oogie Boogie. That is a lot of info on Geoff, but this entire group is insanely talented! I don't listen to anything else anymore since I found them :p They are also a group of goofballs and we love them for it 😂 I subscribed! Looking forward to you exploring more Voiceplay and Geoff :D

Thank you for reacting to my favorite group and noticing my favorite singer. The lowest note in this Geoff holds is a B0. That is the second white key all the way on the left side of the piano. I like that they have J staring out across the water at the beginning. He was recruited by the US Navy and he’s come back (at least for this). The rap was added and some hints to his being in the military (ops, etc). One of my favorite parts is while he’s rapping, in the background you can hear the guys singing “This is WAR”. It always gives me chills. Previously they did a cover of My Mother Told Me (also associated with the video game Assassin’s Creed). J was still a permanent member of the group then. The makeup and a lot of the costuming is from MMTM. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay. Layne (beatboxer ) did the arrangement and Eli (bald rock god) the amazing backgrounds using Unreal Engine which is used in filmmaking and video games to provide digital backgrounds. The only real pieces in that set are the tables and benches. Even the door that J walks through was pure CGI. Layne was responsible for the creaking door sound.. It was filmed, not green screen, but at a studio with immense (Full wall!) LED screens. The music in the outro is the karaoke track. The percussion and background vocals and it could be a piece on its own because it’s also gorgeous.

Well welcome to the VoicePlay fanclub! There is so much great music to discover with these guys. They are THE most talented group of guys out there! Geoff hits a B0 several times in this song. He is a human subwoofer for sure! But there's so much talent in every one of them! These guys are completely independent and do all their own productions. I hope you do more of these guys because you'll get LOTS of subscribers that way from their uber-loyal fan base!

Re: what octave… Geoff gets down to B0. I saw them live once. Let me tell you his voice through concert speakers is as close to a religious experience as I’ve ever had. He literally made my ribs vibrate and every now and then he’d hit a slide that went right down or up my spine. I was listening to him with my skeleton. 😝 He’s go solo stuff out too. I’d recommend Jack’s Lament if you have seen Nightnare Before Christmas. If not, then maybe try Don’t Mess Around With Jim. Oh, and his full name is Geoff Castellucci. Yes, J None was the rapper. He was a long time member who left to join the Navy. He sings with the Navy Band now, but whenever he’s home, the boys rope him back in as a guest. I’d highly recommend checking out their covered of either Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Radiohead’s Creep, Aerosmith’s Dream On or Be Prepared from the Lion King. Whatever tickles you fancy more.

You are correct, J None was the rapper in this though that's just another string to his bow and he doesn't usually rap. He used to be a full member of Voiceplay but left to join the army and sings often as a featured artist with them when he gets some leave. Voiceplay are amazing and Geoff (the deep bass) is truly a master. He has some great solo songs too.

Geoff has a channel of his own, where he uses light instrumentation and sings every part 👍🏻

Welcome to VoicePlay! As others have mentioned VP are completely independent which means they do almost everything themselves. They arrange the music, do the first initial, rough mix, conceptualize the video, put together the set themselves for said video, get the costuming, program lighting....about the only things they don't do are the final mix of the song which is always done by Ed Boyer, involved makeup looks usually done by Rick Underwood who did the makeup for this video and this is considered tame for these guys, and they don't do the filming, at least 99% of the time, and it's not because they can't, it's just that they have to be in front of the camera. For this video, it was conceptualized by their rock tenor, Eli Jacobson, who also does all their lighting. A few years ago he started experimenting with creating environments in Unreal Engine, yes the gaming software. If you go back and watch their video for My Mother Told Me, you'll see his earlier attempt at this, but even back then he wished he could make the environments seem more realistic and interactive. Enter Valhalla Calling and Eli really upped his game. The only real life things you see in this video are the guys, the tables/benches they are sitting on, and a few handheld props. The rest of the enironment is created by Eli in Unreal Engine. They partnered up with Vu Studios who had the space and special camera to project Eli's environment on a giant LED wall and capture it in video. He then edited this final video. When we tell you they're independent, you can get an idea of the scope we mean when we say that. 😁

Geoff primarily songs in octave 2 occasionally octave 1 with a few subharmonics in octave 0. J-none is a former member who left to join the navy. He now joins them occasionally, a few times a year, to release a new song. Unconfirmed, but I think that's part of the reason why in the video he was separated from them watching the boats on the coast, before he joined them in the hall for the finale

Geoff has that incredible bass but before you categorize him, listen to this - his range is a smidge over 5 octaves. His lowest note is the last note on a piano, A0 with a growl, B0 (subharmonic) in this one - check out J None singing out there on the ledge at the beginning, then listen for Geoff's 14-15 seconds of B0, at F1 he comes in with full chest voice, around B4 he'll maybe add some mix to it, and his highest note that I know of is the Bb5 he did in Peaches - a short of Super Mario Brothers.
