Whoa! good thing you ran the generator and identified the battery issue. That would have been a single point of failure. Always good to check things out before you need them. In the field artillery we fired 9 projectiles that needed a battery to activate the guidance system and arm the round. Well, no one checked the batteries and we fired 9 lawn darts. Batteries matter!

When we were farming when we first started our irrigation engines, they were on natural gas, we'd have to Crack a line till the gas would come out purging air out of the line. That's the first thing I thought of when you first tried to start it. Just a learning process. The less cranking you have to do the less wear and tear on the starter and battery.

You need a shed for your wood pile. It is going to be tough pulling logs out of the snow this winter. One of our Family members has their wood burner and wood pile inside a pole barn and they love it. The wood dries and they load the burner in a dry area inside the barn. You do have to plan the pole barn system so it is safe and workable.

Glad the Cummins fired up for you. My Generac automatically kicks on once a week to make sure all the components are working. It is hooked to the natural gas. I is a great comfort knowing it is doing the job. I love the wood burning furnace, but then you have all the wood you would ever need for it. Love the Farm to Table restaurant idea! Think you guys would do well with that! There is a Farm to Table restaurant in Lincoln NH area that does very well. Harbor freight sells something that might work. mount the solar cell on the back of the house, (there seemed to be a lot of sun there). Now real headache in wiring it up, and minimal work or cash to do it. Ok, you just proved that there is a WHOLE lot more going on than what we see! When did you all cut all that wood!? amazing! you folks are incredible!
@dropshot19672 жыл бұрын
In principle, the amount of energy (heat) you get out of wood depends on the kind of wood, oak is higher than most other hardwoods, poplar is on the lower end for hardwoods. Gasification is good at getting all the energy out of the wood, but the wood needs to be dry. When wood is not seasoned enough, some of the energy is needed to evaporate the moisture. That energy is then not used to make heat. So dry wood burns and gasifies the most efficiently. I hope Gina gets well soon.
@StoneKathryn2 жыл бұрын

I remember when you and Gina were dreaming on a video about 500 acres… next thing we know you’re making that dream come true

Good Morning Al, Everything is looking good on the off-grid property. The fall foliage is looking spectacular. Continue to dream big and trust in the goodness of God. Dreams do come true. Sending continued healing prayers for Gina. I’m sure she is chomping at the bits to get back out on the property but be patient, follow the doctors orders and you will be back on your feet soon. God Bless each of you.

I love all of the dreams you have. You can do it! You can also set up an Airbnb. People would love that!

You do have a lot going on. I remember you and Gina pressing apples in that wooden press. Lol. You sure have come a long way. Hope Gina is having a good day.

You loose me with all your technical stuff, but then you explain it and then I understand what it does. I always wanted radiant heat. It is the warmest heat. We have learned so much about building from you and what works best. Praying Gina is still recovering well. I miss seeing her telling you what a mess you are making. That always give me a chuckle. Your house is so awesome and being off grid is really fascinating. Anxious to see all your critters there.

The view is amazing, fall colors are very special. That power setup is terrific. I agree about power problems they always seem to happen on a holiday!
