1985 Into The Groove which she wrote she was originally going to give to Mark Kammins the dj who got her a deal to use with another artist he was working with as a thank you. then by chance Despertly Seeking Susan needed a song for a club scene and she gave them Into The Groove. it became a hit and she never told Kammins she was keeping it, he had recorded it but her version was released before his. this was a bside with Angel being the a side but this was the song of the summer

Technically not an album track from the Like a Virgin album but was added later in some countries. In the US The song was a “B” side to “Angel” from LAV. The song is from the movie “Desperately Seeking Susan” for which she co-starred. The song was pushed heavy on radio and MTV and everyone considers it a classic Madonna hit yet ironically it was never released as a “single” so has no Billboard charting history - yet I would argue was one of the more popular songs from that time. The video is 100% scenes from the movie.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more! Madonna's music has this timeless quality that never fails to transport us to some amazing memories. It's like a soundtrack to life's best moments. Her journey in the music industry is not just about the hits; it's about the emotions and experiences she captures in each song. Here's to the Queen of Pop, making every era a wild and good time for all of us! 🎵👑

It’s from 1985 - it was added to later versions of the LAV album in some countries. Wasn’t released as a single in the US for some bizarre reason. It was her first no 1 in the UK. Holiday reentered the chart, went to no 2 and was kept off the top by Into the Groove.

The best way to cover Madonna’s hits from her first 2 albums and film soundtracks in the mid-80s is to react to her debut 1985 Virgin Tour (it’s less than an hour long-you can divide it into segments if you prefer). Her live performances are spectacular-since she combines all the artistic elements of her music, dance, staging, messaging and her charismatic interaction with a live audience. Appreciate you covering and reacting to Madonna’s artistry.

In "Desperately seeking Susan" Madonna takes selfies with a Polaroid camera.
@zanyzander9 ай бұрын
You know she invented the selfie in this film. Using a polaroid camera to take photos of herself. On her 2019-2020 Madame X tour she took polaroids of herself again onstage and auctioned them off for charity (her African - Malawian - kids orphaned by AIDS charity).
@BruceandCarla9 ай бұрын
Wow, I had no idea she pioneered the selfie with a polaroid back in the '80s - that's pretty cool! And it's even more awesome that she brought it back for charity during the Madame X tour. Using something as simple as a polaroid to support a cause like that is just down-to-earth and genuinely caring. Thanks for sharing this neat bit of Madonna trivia! 📷✨

I've been a MADONNA Fan since She came out in 1982. I was in Catholic School,when I heard it the first time I was in NICARAGUA 🇳🇮🇳🇮 that's where I was born but due to Communism ,I escaped and came to AMERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸 in 1984 and the whole ride in my AMERICAN Life. She as well as METALLICA have been there. Yeah I became a \m/etalhead. But that didn't stop my Love for MADONNA , She's my #1 Female Performer ever. I seen her in Concert twice during the CANDY SHOP WORLD TOUR 2008 in Miami , Florida and also in the MADAME ❌World Tour in Miami Beach ,FL. I love her Music and Live Shows , I know all her Albums and am just obsessed with Her. I'm so happy you guys are checking out her Discography, let me tell you it's an Arsenal. But enjoy the ride , I don't know which way you're gonna go from her Self titled first album MADONNA or from the last one MADAME ❌, either way , you'll love it. Take care. And thx u for posting.

@@BruceandCarla She did not pioneer the selfie. Long before the modern selfie, and before Madonna did in the film, Desperately Seeking Susan, it wasn't uncommon for people to take pictures of themselves with a Polaroid camera.

This was Madonna's first major studio film. Before this, she had made a movie called A Certain Sacrifice while still struggling on the streets of NYC. It was an independent underground art film shot in 1979-1980, but it wasn't released until 1985 when Madonna had become a global star. Desperately Seeking Susan was her first real movie made by professionals, and she started filming it in 1984 when she was still a minor pop star, only known in the USA. However, her iconic MTV performance of "Like A Virgin" changed everything. It was broadcasted live around the world and catapulted her to global superstardom, even beyond her own expectations. As her director pointed out, when they first started filming, Madonna could walk around NYC without being recognised. But by the time they were in their last week of shooting, there was tight security and all the necessary precautions for shooting with a star on the streets. This was the moment Madonna became the Queen of Pop, alongside Prince and Michael Jackson - the only women who could outshine or compete with the most famous male artists. She started a trend that every pop star since then has tried to emulate as a recipe for success. Nicknamed Queen of Pop and after her Blonde Ambition Tour in 1990 she has been nicknamed as the "Queen of Concerts" or "Queen of Touring", Madonna had deep involvement in the touring game and stage shows, she oversaw everything. Madonna remains one of the highest-grossing live touring acts ever. She is still touring today at age 66.... She will never stop working and that is a sign of her passion, dedication and love of the music industry and her special bond that she shares with her fans. We will always support her as we have since day one in 1983.

Actually, she had a bit part in Vision Quest.. I could see why that tid bit was overlooked.. it was a horrible movie even if it did spawn mini hits for Madonna... Crazy for You and Gambler.. :). Yes.. no one could have EVER predicted that during the filming of DSS that Madonna would go from a mid-level star to a MEGA star before the film even wrapped up. The director had to fight the producers from the "Madonna-fication" of the film they wanted in an attempt to cash in on Madonna's rising fame, which is why they wanted a song from Madonna for the movie. It got so bad that it effected Rosanne Arquette who was supposed to be the star, not Madonna. She got super jealous of Madonna, but later got over it.

It’s funny to hear you say that the music is “the 80s”…In many ways Madonna’s music doesn’t sound like any other music of that decade, and so essentially I interpret that as testament to just how impactful her style and influence were for it to have defined a decade. Madonna is a cultural juggernaut, and the only person to have defined four decades of popular culture. Her image has often been the focus of the public and this too often overshadows the importance of the music. She has engendered so many musical and visual styles through the years that any one track is just a tiny sliver of a pretty monumental discography and videography. Thanks for exploring her!

i like the dive into M's work! she was/is truly a chameleon... while there is a 'Madonna sound', youll find that as her career progresses she cant be pinned down to one sound or style. thats why starting from the beginning & following her path is the only way to truly recognize not only her growing talents, but how she conquered the world & became the biggest & most resilient pop star in history. THIS song has my high school days written all over it... was HUGE beyond belief. My HS used to play the radio over the PA system in the mornings before homeroom, and when this came on? EVERYONE would be dancing in the hallways! what a blast! less than 3 years into her career she had already become the most famous woman on the planet. and that was JUST the beginning.... When HBO aired her 4th tour, The Girlie Show, the promo tagline they used described her regal presence brilliantly.. "You never know what she's gonna do... You just wanna be there when she does it!" PREACH! PS... you REALLY cant appreciate M until you see her perform live. thats where she leaves all others in the dust!

Into The Groove was apart of the 1985 re-issue of LAV and unfortunately was the B Side to another single 'Angel' so it was ineligible to chart on the hot 100. Despite this it's still a massively huge classic and arguably one of (if not the) best dance song of the 80s. You're referring to Madonna's first major film, 'Desperately Seeking Susan', starring Madonna, Rosanna Arquette and Aidan Quinn. It's a great 80s flick so watch it if you have the chance.

The song wasn't on "Like a Virgin"... it was for "Desperately Seeking Susan" movie. actually this song by Madonna was already recorded by another artist as part of that artist's debut album (I think Mark Kamins was the producer).. but when the producers from the movie needed a song, Madonna offered them this song (which she wrote).. pissing off the artist who would not record the song on her own album stating "I will not be the black Madonna!!" AS for DSS, the movie was about a bored housewife following the antic of Susan (Madonna's character) through a series of ads and notes in such a small paper, however when an ad appeared stating "Deseperately Seeking Susan" (when Susan goes missing after thugs going after Susan because the earrings she has were stolen), Roberta (Roseanne Arquette) decides to try to track down Susan but suffers a hit on the head, and she thinks SHE is Susan.. the real Susan and Roberta's husband team up to look for Roberta.. and discover that Roberta is in real danger by the thugs who are looking for Susan... it was a fun little movie. Madonna would try to recycle this in her "Who's that Girl" movie which, while endearing, tanked.

ending an abusive marriage, filing for divorce, realizing you're living longer than your mother did, having a cancer scare and having to start over again, would do that to person and change your outlook. Plus all the negative press of her only being a pop princess got to her so she wanted to take a new musical direction. She never really thought that Like a Prayer would become an anthem.. she just hoped it would score well on the charts as it had been close to 3 years since she was then on the charts..She would be SUPER busy from 1988 to 1991
