There's no band in the history of Rock music lik Pink Floyd, they are on another level altogether! At this point in their careers, 1994, there are only 3 actual members of Pink Floyd onstage here, they're the 3 old guys you see, one is in his late 40s and the other two are in their 50s. This Pulse Concert in 1994 is 30 years after Pink Floyds' founding in London in 1964. the band Pink Floyd here in 1994 is, David Gilmour, (lead vocals, guitarist),... Rick Wright, (vocals, keyboards),... and Nick Mason, (drums, percussion). The other singers and musicians onstage are Pink Floyd touring band for that tour or year.

One thing Pink Floyd does and is the only one to do this & I've seen them four times in three different decades is they place speakers behind the audience on both sides of the audience and in front of the audience on the stage and above. What they do is they create a soundscape as if you were inside a giant pair of headphones. Then they pipe 233,000 watts of power through their sound system and lighting! However with all that power they only turn it up somewhere between halfway and 3/4!! That way there is zero distortion perfect sound and it's so powerful you can feel it inside your body!!!! I've seen around 100 concerts in my life from just about every major band that exists and I've never seen a better show than Pink Floyd puts on!!! This is Earl's Court in London and that venue seats over 19,000 which Floyd sold out 15 nights in a row!! Every song they do in this concert is at least equivalent to any other bands Grand finale!!

They've been doing quadraphonic sound since 1970, the early version using something they invented called the Azimuth Co-ordinator to pan the sound around the stadium using a joystick.

Yes yes finally someone who knows....saw this show at the Pontiac silverddome...Floyd is Quadrophonic sound ...I'm 51 when I try and describe how powerful the sound was I just can't do it...loud yes ...but more than that the sound was powerful it was just shaking the place ...but finally someone who gets gets it too ...thank you and may you shine on 💯💯💯💯💯😁😁😁

@seanhecht1840 That's where I saw them, too! I was 14, and my dad got tickets for the family for the July 15th show of the Division Bell tour at the Silverdome. Your whole body shook from the inside out at times, especially during the intro to Sorrow. Couldn't hear for 3 days after, and it was fantastic! Which night did you go?

Ive seen these guys many times over the years, Pulse twice, there is no better band! PF is perfection! Just wish all you youngins could see and feel this music live. We actually felt it for days. Sound system was unreal!!

Great reaction! Do yourself a favor and listen/watch the UNCUT version, same song, same tour (Pulse). David Gilmour thought he heard an 'iffy' note, and so the version you just listened to had over ONE MINUTE cut from the GUITAR FINALE!! Okay, I think I know which note he means, but that is still over a minute of David Gilmour playing that guitar finale. The best comment I saw about Mr. Gilmour was that every guitar wanted a David Gilmour for Christmas.

Just to answer your question about the band's membership through the years... after starting as a six-piece in 1964/65 under a different name, they really started as Pink Floyd in 1966 as a foursome. Syd Barrett (the principal songwrite) on vocals and guitar, Roger Waters on bass, Richard Wright on keyboards, and Nick Mason on drums. 1967-68, Syd's mental health went south fast after heavy drug usage, mainly LSD. His mental health got so bad he was removed from the group a few months after they added David Gilmour on guitar and vocals to prop up the live shows as Syd was unreliable live at this point. That was the beginning of the classic lineup. Roger became the lyricist and conceptualist for the concept albums, David and to a lesser extent Rick became the musical leaders. It was this group that had what might be the best six album run of all time from 1971-79. Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall are all highly regarded as masterpieces to varying degrees. The latter half of that period, Roger's ego got the best of him and he began thinking the other members of the band were just support for him. He strongarmed the band into kicking Richard out in 1979. It became impossible for the band to exist as it was and in 1985, Roger left the band thinking it was dead without him. David and Nick wanted to continue and after a nasty court battle, they did, bringing Rick back as a session musician. It was this period they brought in extra touring musicians to better create their music live since each member had 2 or 3 layers of music on all their albums. The touring band consisted of a guitarist, a keyboardist, a bass player, a percussionist, and 3 backing vocalists in addition to David, Richard, and Nick. That's what you see here. The classic lineup did reunite to play a massive charity gig in 2005, along with an extra guitarist and keyboardist, with one backing vocalist. It holds a special place in the hearts of the fans because nobody thought it would ever happen with the animosity toward each other. It's also the last time they played together as Richard died in 2008. Keep the Floyd coming!

Try: Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii - Echoes Part 1 then Part 2. Pink Floyd's High Hopes. I like the David Gilmour AOL Sessions version and the Robert Wyatt's Meltdown version though the PULSE version and the Gdansk versions are also excellent. For Something different: Stillwater playing Mindbender (Eddie Owens presents) Chaka Kahn and Rufus on Soul Train playing Tell Me Something Good, but they cheat on the talkbox. Joe Walsh with the Eagles playing Rocky Mountain Way Jethro Tull playing Locomotive Breath @ Madison Square Garden in 1977. It's got high energy but its over 15 minutes. The AVO sessions from 2008 has Jethro Tull showing its age but it's shorter. Of course Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock playing the National Anthem

At this concert David Gilmour was in his 40s. Want an interesting experience, watch this performance. The man sang a 2hour concert and finished with Comfortably Numb.

Pink Floyd is the only band I've known in my 65 years that is always better live than the studio version. This is a masterpiece. All PF albums are stories. They are also a jam band a their roots. Just the best. The group started with 4 members, then Gilmour added as 5 when Syd Barrett started to have mental issues went back to four.

You violated the #1 Rule when reacting to and Pink Floyd performance. Its very simple, 1st rule, Never pause during a David Gilmour solo. 2nd Rule YOU NEVER EVER pause a Gilmour solo. This reaction is a fail for that very reason
