I always wondered why idol have such “empty” home when they live on their own. Then I remember a majority come from living in a crowded apartment with like 5+ other people. So it makes sense why a lot of idols tend to have a very”plain” style of living when they finally live on their own.

It's more like a cultural thing. Most Korean homes dont have a lot of furnitures. And then idol houses usually are bigger than an average house so it's even more noticeable how little furnitures they have. If you visit a normal Korean house, most likely the living room has a set of sofa against the wall, and a TV against the opposite wall. Maybe a fan or rug somewhere and that's about it.

The editors did a really good job at showing a lot of Kai's home without revealing the full layout. Just from trying to piece together the floorplan by watching the episode, they made some deliberate cuts to make you think you know where everything is, but if you re-watch closely, you'll realize some of it doesn't make sense. And even whole spaces/rooms weren't shown. Whats behind the "secret" doors in the black padded wall? And the door on the left @ 2:54? That's a huge apartment omg.
