Well done Nat - a great achievement! The important thing is that you've got out there and done it and hopefully there will be many adventures to come. Just remember even the most experienced cycle tourer/backpacker started with one ride and your first time putting up the tent was certainly much more proficient than mine! Best of luck to you!

A good effort Nat. You've got your bike and gear sorted so the preparation for the next trip should be easier. For comfort it's best to ride without a backpack on; cycling gloves are good, and take a lightweight gas cooker for the morning brew and warm food, although not taking cooking kit for a one-nighter is understandable.

Bikepacking / cycle touring is wonderful. It’s hard to convey the sense of abstraction that you get when on two wheels. Only having to think about eating, sleeping and riding your bike is just amazing, especially given the complexities of modern life. Enjoy your future trips!

I get out on my bike to get away from the complexities of life. The sense of achievement when I finished my first bikepacking journey was awesome. Quite emotional to be honest the fact I completed my ride.

I did that a couple of weeks ago! Just packed up the Brompton and cycled down the Natchez Trace in Tennessee. It was only one night. To say it freaked people out that I was going by myself would be an understatement, and that reaction wasn't one I'd fully anticipated. I was a bit nervous putting up my tent too! But I managed it - phew! - and that relief is real. High fives to you.

Great videos Nat. You have a very engaging style which works well on KZbin. It's good to encourage others to try cycling adventures and share what you learn. They don't all have to be epic journeys. Cycling and shooting clips can be quite challenging with all the stop/starts. But showing the surroundings and talking about them is equally as important as the riding itself, for viewers. I see you were paddle boarding in Broadstairs a while back which is my territory. We also have some great coastal rides in East Kent, best done out of school holiday times.

Nice film. I did my first trip in 2019. I had no clue what I was doing but amazed myself by getting all the way from South Wales to the Lake District over 4 days. I loved it! Its an amazing feeling heading off into the unknown with all your kit on your bike isn't it. I rode the length of Wales last year and hope to ride to Lands end this Summer. I've seen some amazing scenery, met some great people and had plenty of funny looks pulling into campsites 😄 All the best 👍

You’ve done so well. Of course you could have done some things a little better, but you did nothing wrong! I’m sure that you will get better at various aspects of bikepacking as you gain experience, but ultimately it’s about getting out into the countryside , riding your bike in the fresh air and enjoying your camping. You made a great vid, to boot! Thank you for sharing with us.

Amazing effort. I'd love to do a similar trip in the UK up to the lakes - I see you walked around the beach, and a small village, I'm curious how did you manage bike security when you were away from your cycle + gear? My biggest fear is leaving my stuff and having to taken off my pannier rack
@arminhess1512
@arminhess1512 2 жыл бұрын
The majority of our fears rsult from stories and films. Of course it can go wrong but how often your hear that somebody has been caught and pulled into a van? But I really understand these fears because I am a victim of my fantasies, too. At night you will be safer in the wilderness than in any big city around the world. Less people --> less risks! If you can accept this you're fine. Maybe England is a worse place for nightriding women than Germany is. Would I let my daughter go for a overnighter? Possibly not. Hard to say what's the right way. But every step you make will make you stronger!
