Me too but I was in 3rd year back then. I heard it when I was in 3rd year high school in Torres High School, Tondo Manila Philippines back in 1982. This is the favorite songs of the high school kids at that time.

How can a song about having sex be so soft and gentle??? WAY different than this generation where the lyrics are WAY more blatant and explicit.

The lights are low And we're alone The fire's glow It keeps us warm As I reach out and touch your face The moon lights up our first embrace But please don't hesitate Hold my hand, don't be afraid Of the feelings in your heart Just close your eyes, no one will mind If we're to fall in love this first time Don't be afraid of love Don't be afraid of love Don't be afraid of love It's the first time The first time for love There could be so many worlds and mountains We could climb Together, the two of us tonight The two of us, we're quite a pair These lonely nights we both can share So don't be shy, 'cause it's okay I understand feeling that way Hold my hand, don't be afraid Of the feelings in your heart Close your eyes, no one will mind If we're to fall in love this first time It's the first time The first time for love There could be so many worlds and mountains We could climb Together, the two of us tonight 💕❤️💋

@snoekitty It's a Dennis DeYoung song. He's singing this and he wrote it! Tommy did not like this and criticizes it in an interview (Styx Story part 5 or 6). He didn't like Babe either, even though it was the band's only #1 song. I agree with MsERigby - please put up a picture of Styx with DDY in it! He was the main reason for their success and wrote most of their hits! It's just wrong that you have a picture of DDY's replacement for a DDY song.

@bljcga Tommys words were 'that he did not want the band encroaching into Barry Manilows territory'. He hated this song, seems strange now as he wrote 'Sing for The Day'.

I personally think this is the best song Styx ever recorded. As a huge Styx fan, that's not a popular choice because it was essentially the song that was the demise of the band. I love Tommy Shaw, but I think he was an idiot where this song is concerned. Ah well, pobody's nerfect. :-P

Denis was never fired?? He was the founder, he could only fire himself.

Feel the same way. T. Shaw did wonderful on the solo too. It was so musical.
@xDarthSTYXx12 жыл бұрын
He didn't hate the song, but thought it belonged on a solo record, not part of Styx's work. He fired Dennis when this song got released as a single, too. Of course, he was hired back a week later.
