It is my first time trying Philippines Dishes and Misha’s second time. I was excited how it would taste since I’m not familiar with Philippines Cuisine

It is just like Es Campur. You don't have to eat it indivually. The ice usually solidified when in the cup or glass. So you should have mixed it thoroughly; also sugar is placed at the bottom or in between the ice and toppings so it it is recommended to mix it thoroughly before consuming.

Best to mix the ice and ingredients before it melts, you have to use the spoon to slowly chop or push it on the ice like chopping the ice, in quick motion until the spoon reaches the bottom and the ice loosens then slowly mix it up, when the mixture has achieved a mono purple color then it is ready to eat 😁😄

Coconut variety is called "Maccapuno" it is different from the normal coconut. Macapuno is creamy and soft even though it's already old.

Why don't you guys ask to get informed? It's rather bewildering that people do these foreign travels lacking so much curiosity. The natives are the best sources of pertinent information to make one informed and enlightened during explorations. Far better than mostly relying on one's guess work and presumption. Halo-halo means 'to mix things up' in Tagalog, thus mixing it all up thoroughly before you eat it is the right and best method; and the purple ice cream is out of the indigenous Philippine purple yam for which the resulting natural purple colour. Please learn and don't hesitate to ask questions of any sort directly from Filipinos when in the Philippines, will make your time here far more informed, educational, pleasant and rewarding.

yeah it means mix. not only because of the explanation below, but also because it is a mix of various ingredients. The purple ice cream is ube or in English is called Purple Yam

The pudding look alike is actually a Flan. The Purple Ice Cream is UBE similar to Taro because they are both root crops. Ube is very purple while Taro is less purple.

We also call the jackfruit, "langka" And that purple yam is "ube"

HI Allan, It wouldn't hurt to ask the crew what the ingredients of the halo-halo are-collectively, the ingredients vary per restaurant or location, even with what's in season (for fruits) and/or availability of other ingredients per region, so some have soft corn, some have melons, etc. The "soft coconut" is locally called "macapuno," an "abnormal" variant of the coconut [cocos nucifera].Speaking of corn: the appetizer is "cornik" (or kornik): crunchy corn kernel puffs, sometimes seasoned only with salt, sometimes with spice. Again, it varies ü The ice cream we call "ube" (also the term for the color violet), scientific name Dioscorea alata and interestingly called "uwi" in parts of Indonesia ü "Halo-halo," or "[to] mix-mix" is exactly what one does before partaking of it ü so it is eaten with all ingredients mixed with the shaved ice and coconut milk (or condensed milk or even evaporated milk with sugar-again, it varies). Bon appetit!

The typical toppings of Filipino Halo-halo include jellies, nata de coco, red beans, sweet potato, jackfruit, mango, pineapple, corn, coconut, ice cream, ube, and pinipig (rice crisps), with variations depending on the province. It's recommended to do some research beforehand to understand the ingredients, preparation, and the proper way to enjoy this delightful dessert.

You will not enjoy halo-halo if you will eat the ingredients separately 😅, you have to mix it first until all the flavors combined. Traditional halo-halo usually put the ingredients at the bottom of the glass.

The icecream is flavored with ube (purple yam). Indonesia call it ubi ungu. Javanese . Uwi ungu Kudus. The dark purple which you thought was collate was ube halaya (ube jam). Halo halo means mix. Halo halo is a little bit like es campur as also shaved ice desert with evap milk. I think halo halo maybe closer to Malaysian ais kecang

Halo halo means mix mix . you are supposed to mix them all together before eating it. The purple ice cream is made from ube. It is a purple yam that is similar to sweat potato.

That's why they called it halo halo means in English mix mix the whole ingredients before eating.

The waitress should have politely approached and told you to mix everything until the shaved ice melts before eating halo halo.

Not meant to sound rude but you've done it wrongly to begin with. Mix them all well and I mean WELL before enjoying. What do you expect the ice would settle and get sturdy if sitting for a long time at the base of the bowl. You should've mixed them all FIRST.

The way you did is not enjoyable, Halo-halo means mix all of it until the ice will melt and then that's the time you eat it, you did not enjoy it because you did not mix it until the ice melted, try another one do what i said and you will enjoy it, anyway happy new year🎉

You should not let the ice sit for a while, once served you have to mix it already, and keep on pounding it until the consistency is good @@allanlubis
