I always love it when young people react to this movie. I saw this when it first came out in 1979 (I was 22). I've always been a scary movie person. Back then movie trailers played on TV. I knew I definitely wanted to see it. (The best trailer I have ever seen!) So I went with my boyfriend at the time and I was terrified when the opening credits started! There hadn't been any movies like this one up until that time. The suspense toward the end of the movie made me feel like I was run over by a truck. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it - it's my favorite movie.

Love this reaction! This is one of my top 5 favorite sci Fi movies (along with 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner). When I first saw this movie, it didn't scare me but I was caught up in the suspense. And it never gets old for me; this movie is like a great roller coaster, where the scariest moments are the most fun! Aliens is a great, rare almost- better-than-the-original sequels. A very worthy follow-up. The rest of the sequels and prequels are hit and miss.

I think you'd enjoy another scifi film from this same era, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." While it could justifiably get classed as horror, I would say it's more of a psychological thriller / suspense. Another scifi flick from just a couple years later is "Blade Runner," but you might want to see a few more films before you get to that. It's just action, but an amazing production. Also, a completely different suggestion: if you haven't yet seen "The Wizard of Oz" (1939) you might give it a go. It's children's fantasy, based on a book published in 1900.

Fyi, most labor laws do not recognize "job duties" as legal boundaries to job responsibilities unless you have a specific job contract, like from a union, or as a contractor, or as in other countries where you renegotiate your contract every six or twelve months. In the US, if you are hired as, say, a "cashier," but they decide to have you mop floors, stock shelves, clean bathrooms, and unload deliveries, and you never even touch a cash register, that's perfectly legal, and refusal to do as requested means termination, but is treated as you quitting. And in most states, if you "quit" over this you can be denied unemployment benefits, and your previous employer can tell anyone who calls to ask about you that you refused to do your job and quit without notice. "Job duties" are whatever they tell you to do, and unless you're in NYC or California State, I don't think you have any recourse.

As for sequels, definitely see "Aliens," but you don't need to see the rest. Similarly, you should see "The Terminator" and the sequel "Terminator 2," but not the rest. IMO, as for Star Trek, it's a huge fan base and a huge amount of stuff to watch. I would do just the 3 seasons of the original series, and if you want, have the films featuring the original series cast as completely optional. But going on to Next Generation and all of the other Star Trek shows ... that's years and years of material. Probably best to do some other things and come back to it later.

Great reaction to a classic. I was 20 when this came out, and I took my mom to see it at the drive in theater. I loved the way the suspense just ramped up and up. The design of the alien hatchery and the creature itself was so unusual that your brain didn't know what to look for, making every shadow a potential threat. The the twist with Ashe, who had been undermining all the strategies the rest of the crew to get rid of the menace. In the final confrontation I could absolutely identify with Ripley singing to herself to keep her brain from freezing up the way Lambert's did. Btw, the idea that black characters always die first was never a thing until AFTER the Internet meme hit our culture. All us older folks agree on that. The earliest black protagonist in horror was in Night of the Living Dead, and he died LAST. The only movies that started with the black guy dying first were tounge in cheek jokes based on the meme. Aliens is marvelous. Some like it better than the first, but as it wouldn't exist without the first, Alien will always be my favorite. I look forward to seeing your reaction! 🧓💖

When the movie came out They were purposely vague about what it was about The only thing you knew was the tag line in space no one can hear you scream, So you knew something bad was going to happen and I wanted to keep it vague so I didn't think about it. This was before the internet so you couldn't just look it up and you didn't get a movie review until after the movie opened. 14:47 🙋🏻 I personally go through about a gallon of milk In two or three days. When the white liquid came out of Ash I had the same thought but then I was like that's not how it did first time what the heck is wrong. And when he started flailing about It scared me as much as when the chest buster came out of the other guy. That one totally had me I had no idea what was going on. And it's 79 watching this for the first time the movie blew me away. And yes there were a lot of space movies after Star wars a lot of them not very good.

12:07 - "Throw him out the ship." Dang, if we had more captains like you in scifi movies then a lot more crew would still be alive. :D 18:04 - IIRC, the actress playing Lambert was not told what was going to happen during that scene, infact I think most of the cast didn't know, so her reaction to being sprayed with 'blood' was pretty much genuine. Scott is up there with other directors who are perfectly prepared to be mean to the cast if it secures the desired reactions (Kubrick anyone?). I'm sure everyone would agree that reacting to Aliens is well worthwhile. After that, opinion is very much divided; personally the only other Alien-based movie I like is, "Alien vs. Predator" (2004), a crossover with the Predator franchise (mentioned below). Alien 3/4 were kinda meh (putting it mildly) and I thought the Prometheus-based movies were just awful, but hey, to each their own. "Alien" has intriguing origins. Most are familiar with Ridley Scott's involvement, but few know about the writer, Dan O'Bannon. Dan starred in an early low budget scifi comedy called, "Dark Star" (1974), which has essentially the same basic premise (alien on a ship messes everything up), but it was not a commercial success (though now a cult classic). In response, Dan reportedly said, "If I can't make them laugh then maybe I can make them scream", so he wrote Alien. I recommend watching Dark Star sometime, not as a reaction video, just in general, because it is pretty funny, with a great ending, and one can certainly see how Dan was inspired to come up with a scary version of the same tale. As mentioned before with regard to Star Wars, I recommend the analysis videos about Alien by Collative Learning and Georg Rockall-Schmidt. Also, I highly recommend John Carpenter's all time scifi horror classic, "The Thing" (a remake of the 1951 black & white original, "The Thing From Another World"), often touted as the prime example of what can be achieved with the very best of practical effects, a decade before CGI really began to take off in movies (look out for the name Rob Bottin in later movies you watch). It still holds up very well today and continues to provoke debate as to how the depicted events are actually playing out behind the scenes, but I shall say no more. :) Lastly, I recommend, "Predator" (1987), another great scifi/horror classic, also its greatly underrated sequel, "Predator 2" (1990), with the always awesome Danny Glover (oh yeah, you need to see the Lethal Weapon series too!), and the 2010 film, "Predators", which I rather liked, even though it isn't that well rated on imdb. But stay far away from, "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem" (2007), because it's awful, though it does have one worthy scene, the bit where the blond hottie gets splatted (in most movies such a character becomes the main love interest, so it was good to see that trope turned on its head for a change).

@@CourtReacts-zm9yv Most welcome! It's been many years but I think in an interview long ago, one of the cast (possibly Weaver) said something about being a bit suspicious as they walked onto the set because various items of camera gear were coverded in plastic sheeting. Also, I think one or two of the cast refused to be on parts of the set alone as it was too scary. The 'art' style of the alien creature is a whole subculture unto itself (the works of H. R. Giger); when I was at uni in the late 80s, posters by Giger were very popular, role playing and scifi stuff being all the rage at the time, but his works never appealed to me, just too weird. Btw, the "JoBlo Originals" and "JonnyBaak" channels are excellent sources of backstory information about a wide range of movies and TV series, likewise the "production hell" series on The Critical Drinker channel. JoBlo has a good one about Kubrick's "The Shining", called, "The Shining - WTF Happened To This Movie?", while Critical Drinker has good production-hell videos about Predator and Star Trek V (though of course don't watch these until you've already watched the relevant movies). I meant to add in my first post, I also recommend, "Pitch Black"; its sequel is ok-ish, but the later "Riddick" movie is excellent. And for a distinctly quirky scifi movie of old, see, "The Brother From Another Planet" (1984), an early starring role for Joe Morton, who you'll doubtless eventually see again in, "Terminator 2". Dang, 1984 was a *great* year for movies, there were so many good ones back then. Happy to mention some other movies if you like, even if you don't record reactions to them. It's good that you're delving sometimes into older movies aswell, because often they have a certain something that modern movies lack, especially with the unstoppable march of CGI. 1970s scifi/horror movies inparticular have a certain creepy sense to them, eg. "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", as you've already seen, likewise "The Omen", "Demon Seed" and so many others. Having said that, there was also a lot of dross produced back then, likewise in any decade. :D But there's some really good films that often get overlooked amid the modern content provider push of the latest product. There were some very thoughtful films made in the 70s, such as the wonderful, "Silent Running" (1972), "The Andromeda Strain" (1971) and "Capricorn One" (1977). Oh, another excellent movie, "Wolfen" (1981), also, "The Company of Wolves" (1984), though for the latter, try and find a version with the original ending, which may be difficult. And in the meantime, if you've had a rotten day and just need cheering up, then nothing beats, "The Goonies" (1985), one of my favourites, seen it so many times. :D

A franchise that gets a lot of views on reaction channels (if you haven’t already seen it), The Lord of the Rings. Another thing that draws in a lot of viewers is branching out into genera you normally don’t watch. You’re not into horror? Start reacting to horror movies. If a horror buff who mostly focused on reacting to horror wasn’t getting the numbers they want, I’d tell them to start reacting to musicals they’d never seen.

Hey, Courtney! This is one of the greatest and most influential horror films of all time! I prefer the original THEATRICAL CUT you saw because I feel it's paced better and lacks a scene which contradicts the sequel. However, the Director's Cut boasts a moment when Veronica Cartwright smacks the cr@p out of Sigourney Weaver which definitely SHOULD HAVE BEEN in the Theatrical Cut! Despite preferring the Theatrical Cut for the first movie, there is ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION that you must watch the SPECIAL EDITION with longer runtime of the sequel, "ALIENS"!!!!!!! There are critical additional scenes that add context to the movie and it is the version director James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver themselves prefer. Director Ridley Scott kept the entire cast in the dark about the famous CHESTBURSTING scene except for John Hurt. Their reactions were absolutely genuine and mirrored the audience's response! Veronica Cartwright got sprayed by fake blood and fell over backward. They only filmed the scene twice. It remains one of the most ICONIC IN CINEMA HISTORY! The PACING is deliberately slow at the beginning to acquaint the audience with the ship's geography, to demonstrate authentic-looking space travel and maneuvers, to familiarize the audience with the crew, to establish the threat posed by the creature and to generate suspense with the mystery of the derelict craft. There's a lot of rich character humor and foreshadowing in those crew interaction scenes as well as a subtext about this future society being a corporate dystopia. "Alien" is set in the year 2122. This movie and "Star Wars" changed the future aesthetic from antiseptic cleanliness to lived-in, worn-out dinginess. The Swiss artist, H.R. GIGER, who designed the xenomorph, tapped into insectoid and reptilian features that evoke primal fear. His artwork is very bizarre, erotic and has a distinctive look called Giger-esque. The final product is an iconic movie monster that is pure NIGHTMARE FUEL! The creature's life-cycle and biology is explored throughout the series. By the way, the alien's retractable inner jaw is found in nature in a deep-sea fish! THE WEYLAND-YUTANI COMPANY is an international conglomerate involved in robotics, interstellar travel and terra-forming. They have a stake in every colony world and are basically the 22nd-century version of the British East India Company of the 17th- to 19th-centuries. They are a ruthless corporation looking to exploit or weaponize the xenomorph for profit regardless of the negative consequences. The Company is the TRUE VILLAIN of all the Alien movies. In the "AvP" films, you actually meet the company founders before their merger, Mr. Weyland and Ms. Yutani. This crew is not a group of explorers, scientists or colonists. They're just SPACE TRUCKERS hauling rocks. This was a First Contact situation they were wholly unqualified for. Hence, all the bumbling and bad judgment calls. Their chief concerns were company policy and pay inequity. Ripley was the only one with the willingness to make difficult command decisions that would have saved all their lives except for Kane's had she not been undermined by Ash. Of course, Ash was privy to a secret corporate mandate. Like most Captains, Dallas had an inherently CALM DEMEANOR. By minimizing the situation, it prevents both him and the crew from panicking. You can tell he's very worried because he seeks counsel from Mother. He also acknowledges his culpability for the predicament by preventing Ripley from volunteering to go into the shafts and by shouldering that burden himself. He accepted this task not even knowing if fire would be effective! His last act is a rather valiant gesture and I always feel bad for him despite his initial missteps. Parker is MY FAVORITE supporting character! Yaphet Kotto played him to the hilt! He's the blue collar EVERYMAN who just cares about payday and who enjoys deliberately antagonizing his superiors but ends up sacrificing himself for a fellow employee. He's also the only one who made a move on the chestburster before being stopped by Ash! Some viewers strongly believe the alien raped Lambert! This is nonsense. The PREHENSILE TAIL probably drew her closer to itself so it could mouth-punch her with the retractable jaw. Those viewers aren't mistaken for perceiving phallic eroticism, though, as that was Scott's intent. The giant elephant-headed alien pilot of the derelict spacecraft is one of the GREAT MYSTERIES of the franchise. Was he a zoologist, a bio-warfare specialist, an exterminator, a trader in exotic organisms, a waste disposal tech or a trucker like Ripley's crew? No one knows. Sigourney Weaver became a FEMINIST ICON because of this movie. Ripley is one in a long line of strong female characters that have been showcased in sci-fi and fantasy dating back to Edgar Rice Burroughs' Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars, in 1911! There's not a man I know who wouldn't follow Ripley into hell. You must see the SPECIAL EDITION of "Aliens" and the ASSEMBLY CUT of "Alien 3" because those versions greatly enhance both films. If you intend to see the "ALIEN vs. PREDATOR" films, then you need to acquaint yourself with the PREDATOR franchise. The first is an action classic with Schwarzenegger. Danny Glover's underrated urban-set "Predator 2" features some memorable set pieces. Dark Horse comics explored the crossover concept inspiring Hollywood to make two crossover films with moderately successful to excellent results. They're fun and exciting guilty pleasures with the second one, "ALIENS vs. PREDATOR: REQUIEM", being particularly lean and mean. There is also a "PREDATORS" film produced by Robert Rodriguez that is definitely worth a look. "THE PREDATOR" (2018) REBOOT, however, should be considered extremely optional as it nearly killed the franchise! "PREY" is an 18th-century-set prequel to the original film that was released on Hulu last summer! The Alien films have a RICHER SUBTEXT while the Predator films are more ACTION FARE but they're both fun sci-fi thrillers. Below is a VIEWING ORDER and an INTERNAL CHRONOLOGY: INTERNAL CHRONOLOGY: 1719 Prey 1987 Predator 1997 Predator 2 2004 Alien vs Predator 2004 Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (Unrated) 2010 Predators 2018 The Predator [EXTREMELY OPTIONAL] 2093 Prometheus [OPTIONAL] 2104 Covenant [OPTIONAL] 2122 Alien 2179 Aliens (Special Edition) 2179 Alien 3 (Assembly Cut) 2379 Alien Resurrection (Director's Cut) [OPTIONAL] VIEWING ORDER: Alien Aliens (Special Edition) Alien 3 (Assembly Cut) Alien Resurrection (Director's Cut) [OPTIONAL] Predator (1987) Predator 2 Predators Prey Alien vs Predator Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (Unrated) Prometheus [OPTIONAL] Covenant [OPTIONAL] The Predator (2018) [EXTREMELY OPTIONAL]

I'm glad you gave AvP 2 props. People crap on that one but the only thing you really need to know is: turn the light up on your TV and watch it in the dark. They edited too dark, but if you give it the right environment the blacks are so rich, like an 80s thriller or a film noir.

This is my all time favorite movie series. I know everything about it and watch every reaction made to it.I saw this movie in theatre in 1979 when I was a teenager. it scared the hell out of everyone. The movie is a combo suspense/Horror. Ridley Scott is an excellent Director. The set was real. No CGI back then. 23:50 U jumped🤣.Veronica Cartwright was originally cast to be "Ripley" but Scott switched her and Signory Weaver day before the filming. I often wonder how the movie series would have turned off if the roles were not switched. When Ash was a robot it got you, as it did everyone who watched the movie. In my opinon this is the number 2 most scary movie with Exorcist '73 is first. Now as far as the sequels. Watch the Pre-quel "PROMETHEUS"" next, the the sequel ""ALIENS"" As far as the other movies I think they are junk, but other fans will say otherwise. I will also suggest 3 other youtube reaction makers, who done a great reaction to this movie... The first is EOM...now Jay is about the most biggest jumped in the reaction makers he needs a seatbelt for his chair. Then DEVIN G...be sure its not Devin G with his wife.. Devin did a great reaction. Then from a girls perspective watch DASHA REACTS They will give you a good idea how to make a good reaction video. Remeber on the alien ship there was a hole in the captains chest? In Prometheus u see the crashed Alien ship. U aslo see the first robot David. He is evil and Ash is the second generation robot and then in ALIENS you see the 3rd generation robot Bishop. I will give u a negative comment. You talk too much. Listen more talk less. Ok girl I will keepa watchin

I appreciate the comment, but I will point out that I watched the film with ad breaks. Those moments with me talking are during those times. This is why you never see me taking notes and looking down.

You’re asking all the right questions. Well done! But commenting too much during the movie is understandable, but distracting. You will miss key points. You’re not alone. Many reactors do that. But be patient. You’re questions will get answered for the most part. Im actually enjoying your reactions quite a bit. Just talk a bit less during the movie so you dont miss anything, and we can enjoy it with you. Hopefully you dont misinterpret my comment as being mean. Please dont think that! Lol. Nothing but love. Just a suggestion 😊

@@ChrisS-no3ftYes, the movie was crazy, but in a good way! I also want to point out that I did those talking points during ad breaks. I like to throw my thoughts out there during those times.

Aliens is the only sequel worth watching, Its as good as the original, but more of an action film than a monster movie (Alien was basically Frankenstein in space) I personally liked the original more - because i prefer suspense over action, but that is just my preference. both movies are 5 stars. post Aliens: alien 3/4/etc...........sucked basically IMO.

H R Giger was the artist behind "the Alien" creature. It was inspired by nightmares that he would sketch out upon waking. Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. AND YOU THINK THIS IS JUST A MOVIE ? Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. REMEMBER THE SCENE WITH DALLAS SAYING "KILL ME"? 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
