It's the original head crab, lol. This movie is *all* the jumpscares. The chest-burster scene was genuine reactions because they didn't warn the actors. "Stupid science boner" "Caucasion looking worm"💀 Aliens is my favorite in the franchise, for sure. 🦎 Can't wait for your react to that one, lol.

The blinky-flashies on old mainframes actually corresponded to memory locations and active usage. The cockpit-like room for accessing Mother was actually simulating the networking as if from inside the ship's computer.

The film where noone listens to the smart woman, then everyone dies except for the smart woman and her cat. Aliens is one of my favourite films, it's been my comfort film since I was in my teens, and it is more action since it's by James Cameron.

1. Tagline "In space no one can hear you scream" 2. Best explosion EVER 😱🏆💯(including Star Wars) 3. Dallas/Tom Skerritt also played Viper in "Top Gun" and Strawberry in "Up in Smoke". 4. Brett/Harry Dean Stanton had a very healthy resume. We lost him recently.😇 5. Ridley Scott is also known for directing the original "Bladerunner". 6. The hanging bodies weren't in the original release. They didn't expect a sequel. You should.

Classic sci-fi horror. The tension is so thick, you will need a sharp steak knife in order to cut it. The voice of "Mother" is so iconic, in my honest opinion. There's something unnerving about a cold feminine voice counting down to your death. It wasn't until GLaDOS that we rediscovered that a computerized female voice can be absolutely creepy. Fun Fact: In H.R. Giger's original illustrations that inspired the look of the Alien, the creature had eyes. For the movie, Giger insisted that the creature have no eyes, thus giving the bleak appearance of a cold and emotionless beast that hunts by smell. Real Guts Fact: The dead facehugger that Ash (Ian Holm) autopsies was made using fresh shellfish, four oysters, and a sheep kidney to re-create the internal organs. Filming had to be done quickly because the organic material would go bad very fast under the studio lights. Bloody Solution Fact: It was conceptual artist Ron Cobb who came up with the idea that the Alien should bleed acid. This came about when Dan O'Bannon ran into a wall with the screenplay on how to handle the last half of the movie. He needed a good reason for why the crew members don't just shoot the thing and kill it but still not make it an indestructible monster that can't be killed. The acid blood was the idea that solved this problem.

Yep! 1979- Star Wars helped clear a TON of sci-fi. The Xenomorph is a dude in a suit, and they covered that suit in KY jelly. It’s why it looks so gloopy and slick.

Holy crap, you've never seen Alien?? You will love this series. Every installment in the series is worth watching; each movie has a completely different directorial style and aesthetic; I love all of them. I really appreciate your videos, by the way. They cheer me up when I'm having a rough day, and I've had a lot of those lately. I'm currently watching the Saw movies for the first time and following your reactions as I go; thank you for taking the time and effort for not just react to events in the movie, but also actively reflect upon and speculate about elements in the title.

I will NEVER understand why people get aggravated with Ash for telling Parker “Don’t touch it!!!!!!!” regarding the chest-burster. The acid blood had already been established, and I would have been screaming the same thing, especially if the dining room was on a lower level of the ship where there may be a shorter distance for the acid to breach the hull. Ash’s motivations and agenda are not known at the time, so this may not be his reasoning either, but either way I would be trying to figure out how to capture the alien, not cut it open with a knife.

People who have skepticism (willfully skeptical and suspicious and not simply surprised) ignore the fact that this movie came out 44 years ago. Generations (with an S) of people have been born after this movie was released. It shouldnt be surprising at all that there are people that haven't seen this.

Great reaction! I saw this movie when it first came out in '79 (I was 22 at the time). I remember seeing the trailer on TV. I was so scared before the movie even started! The tension when Ripley was running through the ship was almost unbearable. It's one of my top 2 favorite movies and I've lost count of how many times I've seen it. It's amazing on the big screen.

It's pretty much unanimous with the fans that this series goes straight downhill after Aliens. Alien3 which was David Fincher's directing debut, was definitely the wrong direction to move forward. Resurrection didn't help at all, either. It's your decision of course to keep indulging or not.

With this one it was the Weyland-Yutani company that ordered the ship to put down on LV427, and the wonderful John Hurt (RIP) has one of the best death scenes ever filmed. Unfortunately the cast didn't know they were going to get drenched with gallons of pig blood. So the screams and reactions are very real at the dinner table as John Hurt's chest explodes. Ian Holm also stands out as the psycho synth.

Glad you're takling this plunge! I saw "Alien" in the theater at the age of nine and it was amazing. Terrifying, but amazing. The second film ("Aliens") is just as good as the first (if not better), but it's a very different style -- far more action-oriented, with a different director (James Cameron), but still very faithful to the original. The third film is more of a nihilistic psychological thriller, and is directed by David Fincher. Most fans HATE the third film because Fincher took everything that had been established by Cameron in the prior film and took a big steamy sh!t on it. Myself, I like the idea of a super-dark Alien film, but I just don't care much for how they went about it. It's a "meh" for me. The fourth movie is just fecking weird. They brought in Joss Whedon to do the script, so he basically wrote Buffy the Vampire Slayer In Space. Then they got French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who gave the whole thing a goofy "Fifth Element" sort of vibe. Personally I can't stand it, but some fans do like the campiness. There there are the "Alien vs. Predator" films, and the two "Prometheus" prequels, each of which I watched once and have no desire to see again.

A young KZbin viewer is boarding the "Nostromo." What will this modern make of an "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-DFX" movie? Newspaper and TV ads said only: "In space, no one can hear you scream." 3:35 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 4:43 Second Officer Kane = Zapp Brannigan. 5:09 How's THAT for a Jump Scare? 5:20 This conversation has become iconic due to recent events. 5:57 The Face Hugger, grossing out audiences for decades. 6:25 Acid Blood solved a script problem. 8:41 A Props dept. work of ART, made of sea animals. DFX can't match this level of reality. 9:52 Kane's last meal. 10:22 The Xenomorph, scaring audiences since 1979. 10:48 Burial at sea is an old maritime tradition that spares next-of-kin the grisly details 12:00 Along came Jones. 13:21 Say hello to Bolaji Badejo. 14:12 How's that for a "syntax error"? 16:29 In 1979, this was my "WTF? Ash ISN'T Human!?" moment. 17:14 Almost nobody saw this coming. 19:24 I've read that Lambert is standing in for us, the audience. 20:36 Escape route cut off, stop Destruct to gain time for Plan B. 23:13 Tonight's entree of the shuttle "Narcissus" is Steamed Xenomorph in Shell. 23:33 Correction: Char-Broiled Xenomorph. This and the next film made newcomer Sigourney Weaver into a major movie star. Together with Linda Hamilton of "The Terminator," we have two female Action movie stars and Badass characters. "Jennifer Lawrence"? Who is that?;)

I didn't know anything about this movie except the chest scene and finally watched it last year! I still need to watch the sequels. Loved this movie, the quiet thiller aspect work so well for tension. Ripley being the only one who makes good calls is such a strong character decision. Never seen an android like in this movie, with the white goo and weird organic vibes. It's so interesting! The only scene I didn't like was Ripley undressing, but now I see it's so she can slip into the suit. Still, I did not enjoy that lingering shot 😅

I saw this at the theatre. It was really dark, and you never got a good look at the critter. I liked the space suit and ship designs. It all looked realistic. Enjoyed the twists, with Dallas not being the central hero, and Ash being a synthetic. Do yourself a favour and watch the next one, then stop. Other than an underwater scene in the fourth or fifth movie they were completely forgettable.

H R Giger was the artist behind "the Alien" creature. It was inspired by nightmares that he would sketch out upon waking. Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. AND YOU THINK THIS IS JUST A MOVIE ? Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. REMEMBER THE SCENE WITH DALLAS SAYING "KILL ME"? 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
