Still to this day this might be the best Transformers movie, at least when it comes to story and character designs, but that's just a matter of subjection. The opening alone is the definition of PERFECTION as those are the original G1 design based on the original cartoons which many fans adore. I also really love Bumblebee and Charlie's relationship in this movie, very much reminds me of Iron Giant

So to better understand this movie you have to know is that Transformers originally started as a cartoon in 1984 and ran until 1987 and also included a movie in 1986 (which you should definitely watch) The original series is often referred to as G1 One thing that a lot of people criticized about the Michael Bay live action movies is that basically none of the characters look like they do in the original G1 cartoon. Megatron, Ironhide and all the others actually originally looked very different from how you saw them in the live action movies The Bumblebee live action movie is a soft reboot that ignores the previous live action movies and is set in it’s own universe. And in Bumblebee they use the original G1 designs of the characters which you saw at the beginning of the movie which is why they all look a lot more blocky.

After the original G1 series there came a sequel series called Beast Wars in 1996 in which the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons, now called Maximals and Predacons, travel back in time to the Stone Age and crash on earth. Now they transforms into animals instead of cats and planes and stuff. Megatron (not THE Megatron, this one just named himself after the original) is a T-Rex and Optimus Primal is a Gorilla. And obviously the live action movie “Rise of the Beasts“ which is a sequel to Bumblebee, is a reference to the Beast Wars series and works kind of like a live action crossover between G1 and abesst Wars If you decide to check out any more Transformers series I would recommend the original “Transformers (1984)“ series, “Beast Wars“ and “Transformers: Prime“ Transformers: Prime is considered to be the best modern adaptation of Transformers by many people. So maybe start with that one before getting into the older stuff of which not everything has aged too well

DON! Don’t forget to watch the 1986 The Transformers The Movie! It’s not connected to the love actions film and it itself is purely animated, but it’s definitely worth checking out a lot of the main characters like Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee and Ironhide are in it.

Michael Bay ruined the image of Transformers. Removed the heart of the characters and made them into little more than big robots that blow stuff up. Bumblebee brought us back. Rise of the Beasts went back into the Bay-ism a little bit, but still kept a good amount of the heart.

I love the sequences showing the war on Cybertron and the bond between Charlie and Bumblebee. I especially love the casting of Angela Bassett as Shatter (the red Decepticon) and John Cena was hilarious as the doofus Agent Burns. (I know I'm likely in for an onslaught of "John Cena? Where? I can't see him." comments, but I digress.) Side note: Many people speculated that the Decepticon that ripped out Bumblebee's voice box was Starscream, but it's actually a Decepticon named Blitzwing, who was classically a triple-changer. (A Transformer with two vehicle modes, plus their robot mode).

Bumblebee had his voice back in the end sequence of Transformers 1 when he talks to Optimus to ask to stay with the boy Sam and in movie 2 he explains that he is playing off using his voice to rest it and be more playful and helpful to Sam although his voice IS sporadically heard throughout the 3rd and 4th films in small words and he gets it again in Transformers 5 and the next film is supposed to set up after Last Knight and be chill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn’t this movie take place before the last knight because in the last knight movie prime says he hasn’t heard bee’s voice since the fall of cybertron and in the beginning of the movie we can clearly see “the fall of cybertron” so does this mean this whole movie would be a flashback of some sort and not a reboot or prequel? Cause at the end of it he takes the form of his classic Camaro which is scene in the earlier movies.
