- So the cat was voiced by Keith David, who also voiced Dr. Facilier (the voodoo man from princess and the frog)🐈‍⬛ - The mom also had a neck brace (I thought she was wearing a turtleneck sweater at first), implying that car accident they bring up maybe injured her - this ties into how the parents are stressed about their work above paying attention to Coraline because they might’ve had to buy a new car in short notice with them having to move into their new house and the mom’s neck injury prevented her from working for some time. - I read up some lore about Bobinsky’s skin color and why it’s blue. He’s seen wearing a medal that says “participant in the clean-up campaign,” which implies he was helping the nuclear clean-up in Chernobyl, explaining his “eccentric” personality and accent. He also is counting in Russian in the beginning of the film. - Funny story, but there’s an original book written by Neil Gaiman (who also received allegations of sexual assault a few months ago by the way so screw him) and when it was just an incomplete manuscript, the editor thought it would be too scary for children and only agreed to publish it after his own daughter read it and approved of it. After the book got officially published, the daughter revealed she actually did find it scary but only lied to because she was curious what would happen next. - The book is actually much scarier, the illustrations are so much creepier than the stop motion animation here as it’s colorless… Seriously, look it up, it’ll scar you.

Fun fact. In graphology having a double loop on a lower case o means tge writer is lying. So in the welcome home cake the first o has 1 loop means she is welcome but the o in home has 2 loops meaning she isn't home.

My favorite interpretation is that the reason why other!Wybie and other!father didn't like the idea of Coraline being harmed is because they were made to love Coraline. So even though they were created by the beldam, they still loved Coraline until the end.

There's a theory that the well is actually another portal to the Beldam's world. When you look at it, it ressembles the door's corridor. Wybie said that if you fall down the well, you see a sky full of stars even during the day (and it's always night and starry in the other world). So there's a chance that by throwing the key down the well, Coraline actually sent the key to the Beldam. The cat disappearing in the last frame is also a hint that the portals to the other world are still open.

There was a deleted scene that made it more explicit and it was hilarious. When Wybie talked about her grandmother's missing twin, Coraline said something like "you're grandma's black, right?" I can see why that was cut out 😂

The only theory I know of to do with this film is that coraline is still in the fake world because she first went to sleep in the fake world and at the end the cat vanishes

There's a fan theory related to the well: Wybie states that it is so deep that one can see the stars from it even at daytime. At the beginning, the doll goes through the window into the NIGHT SKY FULL OF STARS. And generally, there's always night in the Other World... So, the well could be another portal there, and the key and the Other Mother's hand went right there. However, if it was true, why would the hand try to prevent Coraline from tossing the key into the well? Or maybe it's just another headscratcher for the fans? Who knows...
