Dune was basically what inspired Star Wars when it was written as books in 1963-1965 by Frank Herbert. They’re still being sold today. My brother is currently reading them.

Both Dunes are a reminder that some of the great sciences fictions stories of all time were inspired by Dune. Star Wars, Blade Runner, Mad Max, and Stargate.

Part 2 is out on digital now yes. I think part 2 is a fantastic film, even more than the first one. Lots of changes from book to film, but I feel like the changes make a lot of sense when having to make the story work as a film. Part 3 is also being written right now, and the director is said to work on a nuclear war movie after he is done with the Dune trilogy of films. This was a fun reaction video! Props to both of you and hope to see you guys watch part 2! :D Lord Of The Rings sounds like a good time by the way, but I do recommend the rest of this director's films also (Prisoners, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049 and Sicario especially). Many consider him one of the best directors of this generation.

DUNE has been my favorite novel since reading it as a child almost 40 years ago. I absolutely adored Part One… Part Two though… Part Two is now on the list of my favorite films of all time.

Let's go! 0:10 It doesn't need a bigger title, because it's based on old book. It's already recognisable enough, especially as there are actually like multiple adaptations at this point. 0:20 Fax better be playing Leto II. He is always giving that "would you love me if I was a worm" energy. 0:30 Btw. just imagine every single sound be dozen time more impactful. Newest adaptation of Dune really is something worth watching in the cinemas. A lot of actual appeal of it and the thing that makes the 3 hours really not drag at all - is that whole music and sound design really brings the whole atmosphere alive. After you react to part 2, I do recommend actually going to the cinema, if some still are playing it in your area. 3:00 Some more context - in the world of Dune people actually overused the AIs and machines. Robots almost overturned humanity and there was enormous war between humans and machines. As humanity won - we threw away all signs of Artifical Intelligence, instead focusing on genetical perfection and changes of our species. That's what Bene Gesserit are - a sisterhood working in shadows to find their own genetic goal of perfecting humanity (there is also one group that is also all men, that go in slightly different direction, but no spoilers on that). You can see BG have those abilities like Voice, have their own fighting style - they are superhumans that can control every part of their body. Including stuff like deciding, if their child will be a girl or boy. You can also see those characters that have big calculating abilities and obviously the spaceships are controlled by Navigators - spice-addicted humans with higher ability to predict future, that helps them traverse the universe. It's interesting concept that takes away robotics and fully focuses on humanity. With all our positives and flaws, especially on flaws. 4:15 One thing about the dreams, you will see some duality in the story. Do they actually see the future? Or does spice allow them to calculate all the chances and see the most probable outcome. Is Paul the Messiah or are they just using the decades old propaganda implanted on Arrakis by Bene Gesserit and it's all just elements of religious exploitation and manipulation. Pay attention so you can answer those questions at the end of "part 3". 6:55 Star Wars was partly inspired by Dune. Tatooine is very much inspired by Arrakis. And Naboo is kinda giving Caladan (Atreides' ancestral planet).

6:52 - Dune was PRE-Star Wars, if anything they borrowed from this world.

If either of you like to read, I can't recommend the books highly enough. Frank Herbert created a complex, highly developed universe, and there's so much more to know that will flesh out the story in the movies. If you don't care to read, there are lots of great videos on You Tube that provide a lot of information and answers. Quinn's Ideas is my favorite. There's also Nerd Cookies and The Lorebrarians. I look forward to your reaction(s) to Dune 2.

I really recommend reading/listening to the book(s) even after watching the movies! I listened to the audiobook afterwards and I really enjoyed having all the inner dialog and extra info you get from it. I think the movies are a great way to get into the story and the books expand on it.
