Most people think Jenny got AIDS because that was about the right timing of the outbreak. The people who made the movie have said that Jenny had Hepatitis 3. This disease was not very well understood at that time and was generally fatal. She was at risk for either disease because of her drug and sexual lifestyle.

I always believed that the feather represented the intervention of a guardian Angel in Forrest's amazing life. Jenny was not a bad person, the abuse by he Father led to her low self esteem. Her low esteem led to drugs and associating with abusive men. She loved Forrest but didn't consider her self worthy of him or his love. In the movie she supposedly dies of AIDS although in the orignal script it was Hepatitus. Forrest's Son is Haley Joel Osmet who later played the young boy in "The Sixth Sense" and a teenager in "Second Hand Lions".

We all get to where we are somehow. I try to assume there must be something I don’t understand before I judge. (Ya, I still judge some people because I am human.) BUT I’m pretty damn sure that the reason Jenny was so fkt up, and sometimes even a little cruel, is because she was molested and beaten by the only person she had in the world to trust and had no mommy, and probably believed to her core that she was not worthy of love, and couldn’t even withstand kindness being given to her when people actually cared. It didn’t click in her head. So she was almost being kind by sparing Forest from her hurting him., because it was inevitable and she knew it. She was not “fit” or healthy enough to be good for anybody. So she took her own advice and ran, because God did not let her have wings. P.S.- The AIDS virus started in the early 80’s and was 100% fatal. Nothing like it had ever been seen before. The whole country was terrified while the CDC was sh*tting their pants. No one knew what caused it or how it was transmitted from one person to another. People were afraid of mosquitos and toilet seats. People were dropping like flies. JENNY DIED OF AIDS. (Don’t share needles. Get it?) Fun fact: Dr. Fauci (ya know that guy from the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease Control, and also the former Chief Medical Advisor to the previous President of the United States in 2019, that Trump said was a quack when Covid came up…? That Dr Fauci was within like the top 4 scientists in the world that dealt with the AIDS crisis and saved all of our current asses then and now. He also worked on multiple other pandemics in addition to Covid.

Forrest would not have had his success in life if it were not for Jenny. Jenny would have not survived if it were not for Forrest. They repeatedly saved each other while they were each working out the effects of their childhoods. The book and the movie are also a history of the U.S. during that time period shown through the lives of Jenny and Forrest.

1. The music rights alone must have cost a small fortune🤑🤑 2. Kurt Russell did the voice for Elvis. 3. IRL Sally Fields is only 10 years older than Tom Hanks. 4. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. Not a recruit. His ASVAB kills that. 5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around. 6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date. 5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes) 8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony.. 9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his. 10. At the rally Forrest says, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." 11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking. 13. "Sometimes I guess there're just aren't enough rocks" 14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis. 15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that" 16 Keep in mind if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey.

Great reaction to a true classic. I enjoyed your reaction and your comments and summary. I look forward to seeing more reactions from you. Great job! I think - as others have said - the virus was AIDS. In the 80's it was spreading rampantly and the doctors didn't really know the cause(s) or have any treatments. I choose to ascribe it to that because I was in HS and college in the 80's and I remember it being a serious national health crisis.

Of course it was “fake.” It’s a fictional story, not a documentary. Also, as you said, Jenny needed to get help. She was extremely psychologically damaged from her childhood abuse, she had feelings of very low self worth. Thus, her poor choices in partners, substances and life style. She especially felt unworthy of Forrest’s love since he was such a pure soul. I’m surprised you couldn’t keep that in mind and instead dished out a lot of hate toward her until you started to feel some sympathy for her.
@ItsAlaana
@ItsAlaana 3 ай бұрын
I know this a fictional story.🙄 When I said that this is fake, I meant that he is making it all up. Why would I think it was a documentary? Smh Also I understand that Jenny had problems because of her childhood. It doesn’t excuse her bad decisions. She had a choice to either get help (like some people do when they go through horrible things) or become a horrible person herself. I didn’t dish out any hate, I was just being real. So many people do drugs, murder, and steal from others because of their childhood trauma. Does that make it ok? No it doesn’t. You can’t go to court and say “Sorry I committed all these crimes, I had a terrible childhood”. Jenny is no different. I do feel sorry for her, as a stated throughout the reaction, especially when she was a child. But as an “adult” she has to make “adult” decisions. Sorry, but this how the real world works.

@@ItsAlaana That´s just the beauty of those who were able to survive their sexual/psychological abuse, fictional or nonfictional . But that is not always the case for others where a path of self-destruction and mental health struggles from PTSD become the norm. (Chester Bennington's journey is the one that most comes to mind; as successful as he was, he was clearly still in pain.) But I understand you offering sympathy to this fictional character but there needs to be some compassion for unique unhealed ''traumatic experiences'' that do not dissipate simply because of adulthood. Yes, actions have some consequences but our mentalities and behaviors will always be framed by our life experiences....for each one of us. Lack of empathy and unwillingness to SEE each other and their journey is definitely our biggest downfall right now.
@ItsAlaana
@ItsAlaana 3 ай бұрын
@@kymme88 I agree with you. I believe that we should have sympathy and compassion for one another. I also believe that we should try to heal, especially if we know that we are destroying our lives with sex and drugs. I truly believe that Jenny knew that she needed to get help. Every time she hurt Forrest, she felt really bad about it. She even said that she doesn't want to be saved. That's when I started to look at her differently. Jenny had so many chances to make the right choice, but she constantly kept making bad ones. When you're young, you don't know any better. But when you're an adult, you have to do better. Especially if you keep doing the same things over and over, and bad things keep happening to you. We all make mistakes, and we all have made bad choices. But when someone continues to keep destroying their lives, I just can't feel bad anymore. Especially if they are blessed to have someone like Forrest in their lives.

One of my favorite movies. Forrest is a great character. As you pointed out, the events in his life did happen. That is fact. The brilliant thing in the narration is that Forrest is an unreliable source when it comes to exactly how the events played out in his life. We get his perspective which we know is limited. Certain facts are undeniable so we have to go with they played out how he said. The exception is... Jenny We get to see parts of Jenny's life outside of Forrest's viewpoint. She is a complex abuse victim who has been running and making terrible decisions all her life out of self hate. That is understood. In my eyes that makes her even more suspect than Forrest's narration. Here are the facts when you look at them away from the "ahhh" emotions. Jenny has been ran through and beat up physically with a body count unmeasurable. The only time she entertains Forrest is when she has hit rock bottom and has nowhere else to go. Now she pops up with a child she says is his (remember...we are only going on her word...and we know how she has conducted her life...) and sick with Aids or HIV or Hepatitis B or whatever it is. She knows it's fatal. NOW she wants to marry Forrest....her ultimate simp. This is the version of herself she offers this man, used and abused and to the point nobody else will have her. She's now dying and has to make provisions for her son. Get the picture?! On some twisted level she loved him but only because he was always there to be her simp savior. She was never in love with Forrest. And she used him and his love for her to make sure her son was taken care of in the end. He is going to inherit a fortune and the only proof that he is Forrest's natural son is Jenny's mouth that has been on and around too many men to even remember. She always had the Forrest trump card in her back pocket and when she got to the most beat up and undesirable point in her life, she played it. It only works because of the simple nature of Forrest. A man with normal mental faculties would've ran faster than Forrest did out the jungle in Vietnam and never fallen for that. The name of the movie could well have been Forrest Gump in "The Scheme of Jenny."

He was a pretty famous child actor, so of course they went with him. How many 28 years old actors play 16 year olds in highschool movies? Come on now. And also, you don't know how much time has passed until Jenny died, neither how much time has passed since she died until Forrest Jr. was old enough to attend school. He was definitely not 6 or 7 years old when Forrest first met him. He started school AFTER Jenny died. I'm not a fan of Jenny, but people saying she didn't tell Forrest kind of piss*s me off. She couldn't tell him, since he was running back and forth all over the country for over three years. No cell phones.
