The weirdest thing about this movie is how Godzilla keeps showing up like a ninja without making a sound. Also Godzilla was way more powerful than the Muto's but no matter how powerful you are it's still a difficult situation when you get jumped. By the way Godzilla couldn't use his full power either because the electromagnetic pulse from the Mutos was disrupting his Atomic breath. So it was very slow to charge and it was less powerful than it should have been.

Fun fact for you, Don: In between this film and the next one, "Godzilla: King of the Monsters", there's a graphic novel called Godzilla: Aftershock. In it, he faces off against the Muto Prime, the largest and strongest member of the Muto species. Godzilla takes heavy damage in that battle, as the Muto Prime breaks his dorsal fins, but he still manages to kill the beast by using a raw radiation blast from his broken fins. As a result, his fins grow back in a different shape by the next film. The graphic novel also explains the skeleton found at the beginning of the film belonged to another member of Godzilla's species named Dagon, and that Muto Prime planted its eggs (the two Mutos in this film) within Dagon, slowly killing him.

Being able to watch these new movies and appreciate how well-made they are is amazing for a lifelong fan like myself. Godzilla is simply one of the coolest monsters in all of fiction in my opinion, and some of his fights throughout the decades are absolute classics. I even played the Wii game Godzilla: Unleashed and I still get on it every so often because it’s just nostalgic and fun. You gotta watch the next two.

Yeah, I'm hoping that that they do a movie with Biollante, as that could be crazy (it's the evil rosebush that is functionally invincible). Also, the novelization of the King of Monsters movie has a really cool titan called Na Kika that could be an interesting add. It's a giant telepathic octopus-like titan that is allied with Godzilla. It gets attacked by poachers in a submarine with explosives and poison, and it calls for Godzilla to help--Godzilla shows up and destroys the poachers. It's hyper-intelligent, has active camo, super-regeneration, and can consume other titans' energy by touching them. Also, it throws boats like spears and has used dead titan shells as a shield.

In this movie, Godzilla stands at 108 meters tall, or 354 feet, for my fellow Americans. At the time, this was the largest Godzilla had ever been in a feature film. Not to be outdone, Toho would release Shin Godzilla 2 years later in 2016, with the title character measuring in at a dizzying 118.5 meters in height, or 389 feet. Legendary would then give Toho the most petty middle finger they could muster by increasing Godzilla's height for the 2019 follow-up to this film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, in which everyone's favorite Kaiju stood at 119 meters, or 390 feet tall.

Definitely wouldn't say giving toho a petty middle finger, the licensing of godzillas use to legendary includes the approval of godzillas portrayal through toho. While it obviously isn't a collaboration between the two they have a good relationship because a franchise was planned so toho has been aware of everything and I think it's obvious the direction for Godzilla has shown he's consistently evolving in some way each movie. Especially the recent trailer for Godzilla x Kong with the throwback to millennium Godzilla. There's been quite a few moments paying homage to previous toho movies and the directors themselves have stated this in interviews, most notable in KOTM with the twin sisters reference and the connection to Mothra, but the biggest being getting Ghidorah, rodan and Mothra right, they were heavily focused on that, the director was an absolute nerd of toho films (his words, not mine), so there's absolutely no pettiness or legendary trying to one up toho in any way. These are two different iterations from two entirely different cultures but with due respect from legendary, but of course finding ignorant comments is easy when people know absolutely nothing 🤷♂️

@@MrNate05THANK YOU. I honestly think he was shown to evolve even in this movie with how he was able to use his atomic breath despite the MUTO’s EMP still in effect. Their species evolved literally to hunt Godzillas and use them as a radiation source for their offspring. So the EMP is the only thing that protects them against his breath weapon which was the most powerful thing of any of the titans. If you think that's cool, you're going to lose your mind when the new TOHO film Godzilla Minus One makes it way to streaming and rentals. They changed the way it works for that movie and it is OFF THE CHART amazing!

In the Original Godzilla (1954) Godzilla was a result of “Fat Man” and “Little boy” (the bombs that hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki.) It was said that Godzilla was a prehistoric creature mutated by the Bomb that were tested that led to Japan getting Nuked. Ofc this film does it a little differently, but overall of the same. Godzilla has a variety of abilities, such as his Radioactive aura. Meaning wherever he goes, he leaves a massive amount of Radiation, leaving the area uninhabitable. He also has his Atomic Breath, concentrated Radiation made into a sort of beam. The reason why Godzilla doesn’t do too much against the MUTO’s is because he’s so much bigger than them that he’s slower. The Male MUTOs is smaller therefore more quick and agile. The Female MUTOs is as Bug as Godzilla, but is more slim.

43:00 Godzilla's "Atomic Breath" is his signature weapon going all the way back to 1954.

The fact that Elizabeth Olsen & Aaron Taylor Johnson played as a couple in this film and then proceeded to play as twin siblings in the MCU barely 2014, god I love their jobs 😂

The pulsing cocoon orange thing in the start was the male muto feeding off the radiation after it attacked the power plant that used to next to the cocoon until they disassembled it but the muto attached himself to the reactors so they couldn’t really take it

39:20 Immediately felt underwhelmed and my hype died the moment he DIDN'T show Godzilla's MOST icon long roar :(

After the monsterverse I thik the best Japanese Godzillas for newer viewers to see and Godzilla GMK and Final wars. Action wise those have the most. Then Shin Godzilla because its actually a really good movie with meaning in it.

Goji's signature attack is his "Atomic breath", the original Godzilla, back in 1954, had a true atomic breath, where he would simply expel radiation from his mouth, which had the power to melt things like steel or spontaneously set things on fire. Over time, Godzilla's atomic breath turned into a sort of fire or beam that he would shoot from his mouth. It has appeared as white or red, but the most common colour is blue.

Have you watched the original 1954 Toho Studios film? Even more importantly, have you seen ''Godzilla-Minus One''? These are the best two kaiju movies ever made!
