The thing about Quidditch is that the game doesn't end until the Snitch is caught. I mean, that rule is pretty serious. The longest Quidditch game lasted for THREE MONTHS. The fact that the snitch is also earned 150 points means that, to ensure a victory, one team needs to keep a difference of 160 points or more from the other. In fact, there are many jokes about how pointless the snitch is in the game and how the game would be better without it.

Hagrid’s wand was snapped upon his expulsion from school and while he’s allowed to keep the pieces he’s not allowed to perform magic. You don't automatically win if you catch the snitch. Catching the snitch ends the game and gives the team that caught it 150 points. But let's say team A has 200 points and team B has 20, if team B catches the snitch, they end the game and get 150, so they end up with 170 points and lose the game to team A.

@@kryss2056 The game doesn't end until someone catches the snitch. There were games that continued for days, weeks. It's pretty easy to get more than 150 points without catching it. Harry Potter, like Krum, is just a very talented seeker. I don't like Rowling, but that's not some sort of plot hole. It makes the game harder, because after the beginning of it when the teams don't have enough points, the seeker and the rest of the team will have to work together to figure out when is the best time to catch it. What I said literally happened at the quidditch World Cup, one team had more than 150 points, so when the other caught the snitch, they still won.

@marirezende8478
@marirezende8478 Жыл бұрын
@@yesimthegoat0385 that's the hard part of it, if the other team is ahead of yours, they'll try to catch the snitch to end the game, so your team's seeker will have to try to delay them so your team can catch up. I don't remember much about the book because I read it a looong time ago (the quidditch book) but I do think it has to do with the points difference. Say if your team is going to lose anyways, you'll try to prevent a bigger point difference by catching it. I know that at Hogwarts it wasn't only about winning the game, the points made mattered by the end of the year, so if you lost a game you could still be a front runner for the quidditch cup. So, to answer in a simple way: it's not always about winning lol

The first movie does a lot of world building indeed, but in the later movies the story gets pretty complex (even if its still just half of the stuff that is in the books) and I have to say it just pulls you in. Some character arcs here are so amazingly written and very multi layered. Of course for those fans that watched this series since childhood there is a certain nostalgia aspect to it, which you might not have, but its still great. And Im so thankful that you left this much of the movie in. Please continue to cut out as little as possible. One little advise I can give you, is to watch out for the little details in this one. @carlysheah9947
@carlysheah9947 Жыл бұрын
@@scarlett.23a lot of reactors offer “full length” reactions on things like their patreon, which means it is literally every moment of their reaction without any cuts. Since they can’t just include the entire movie during that uncut reaction like they’re able to show clips on KZbin (uploading the entire movie online like that would be illegal lol), they instead don’t show any footage on their end and require you to use your OWN version of the film to watch alongside them. Often reactors will do some sort of countdown before they hit play, so they’ll say 3, 2, 1, play, so you click the play button on your end the same moment they do in the video. Reactors that offer full length usually don’t pause/rewind because it would make all the viewers constantly get unsynced and have to redo it.

It is true that Gryffindors, like any other house, can make mistakes and do messed up things. However, the same can be said for members of any other house. The important thing is how they learn from their mistakes and grow as people. Additionally, while Gryffindors may have a reputation for being cocky or overconfident, they also have a strong sense of loyalty and bravery that drives them to do great things. As for Hufflepuff, while its members are often seen as kind and hardworking, this doesn't mean that they are without flaws or negative aspects. Hufflepuffs can sometimes be too trusting or naive, and they may struggle with assertiveness or standing up for themselves. However, these weaknesses are balanced by their loyalty and dedication to their friends and family. Slytherin is often viewed as the "bad" house, but in reality, its members are just as capable of doing good as anyone else. Slytherins are often resourceful and ambitious, and they can be very dedicated to achieving their goals. However, this can sometimes lead them to make morally questionable decisions or pursue power at any cost. But as with any other house, there is a wide range of personalities and values within Slytherin, and it is unfair to generalize all Slytherins as being evil or bad. Ultimately, the Hogwarts houses are a way of exploring different personality types and values within the wizarding world. Each house has its own strengths and weaknesses, and when they work together, they can achieve great things.

You had me grinning like a fool when you made the comment about Dudley and the cake. Then I burst out laughing when you saw Dudley scarfing down the cake lololol epic! There is wandless magic, as well as non-verbal magic but I think most wizards prefer to use wands. It is like, easier to focus your magic through your wand and I am sure the wand as well has an effect on your magic. I don't think I've seen a reactor who has so quickly figured out why Snape has that injury on his leg! Also the black haired guy sussing out Quirrell so early on is great! Wands in the wizarding world have their own unique properties and characteristics that are determined by the type of wood and core used to make them. For example, wands made from elder wood are said to have a powerful and protective magic, while wands made from willow wood are known for their adaptability and flexibility. The core of a wand is also an important factor in its properties. The most commonly used wand cores are phoenix feathers, dragon heartstrings, and unicorn hairs. Phoenix feather wands are said to be the rarest and most powerful, and they are known for their ability to perform magic that is particularly difficult or complex. Dragon heartstring wands are known for their power and flexibility, while unicorn hair wands are known for their loyalty and consistency. The properties and meanings of different woods and cores are deeply rooted in wizarding lore and tradition. By choosing the right combination of wood and core, a wizard can create a wand that is uniquely suited to their personality and magical abilities. This creates a deep connection between a wizard and their wand, as each wand has its own personality and characteristics that are intimately connected to its owner. Overall, the use of different woods and cores in wand-making helps to create a rich and immersive magical world in the Harry Potter series. By exploring these connections, we can gain a greater appreciation for the depth and complexity of the wizarding world and the way in which J.K. Rowling weaves together magic, tradition, and the vast mythological histories to create a truly unique and captivating story.
@Makkaru112
@Makkaru112 Жыл бұрын
The use of different types of wood in wand-making is based on real-world Celtic/ Irish belief In their traditional mythologies; different types of trees were associated with different months of the year, and it was believed that the properties of the tree could influence a person's personality and destiny. For example, those born in May were associated with the hawthorn tree, which was said to represent love and protection. Those born in November were associated with the rowan tree, which was said to have protective properties against evil spirits. This tradition of associating trees with different personality traits and characteristics is reflected in the Harry Potter series through the use of different types of wood in wand-making. Each type of wood has its own unique properties and characteristics that are said to influence the personality and abilities of the wizard who uses it.

17:04 You can do unfocused and uncontrolled magic without a wand (for instance when Harry blows up Aunt Marge) but to do really good spells, yes, you need a wand. A wizard or witch is only at their best when using their own wand. When using another's wand, one's spells are not as strong as they normally would be. Fun fact: in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince book they were being taught to do spells by saying them in their head and not out loud 30:40 The guy speaking is actually Ron’s big brother

The fact Dumbledore could have added the points before the feast but instead he decided to announce Slytherin as the House Cup winners, fully covering the entire Great Hall in green Slytherin drip, and letting them all celebrate their achievement until being like, "Hold up, i almost forgot, Harry and his friends saved the school...I've got some last minute points to hand out. Oh? 10 points short? Hmmm, Neville, you tried to do something, didn't you? 10 points to Neville, for being Hogwarts most life like statue...I guess." What a 'Fck you' to the snitch Malfoy, Snape, and all the children of Slytherin hahahah

Technically, Hagrid's not allowed to have a wand (you find out why in the second movie). That's why he carries the umbrella. ;) Re: Quidditch - no, you can catch the snitch and still lose. It' just that catching the snitch gives you 150 points, so you usually DO win with it. But if the other team is up by, say, 200 points already, getting 150 points to end the game doesn't help you. ;) The movie was called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in the UK, and "Sorcerer's Stone" in the US.

Even if you catch the snitch you can still lose the Quidditch game if the other team has even 10 more points than you. Ron's mother had knitted Harry a sweater for Christmas. Hagrid sent something (rock cakes I think) and of course his father's cloak. The Mirror of Erised inscription read backwards says: I show not your face but your heart's desire. Erised is desire spelled backwards. Harry never had a real family so he sees himself surrounded by them. Ron is one of 7 children. His baby sister is the youngest and only girl His 5 older brothers are all popular, smart and/or talented. Ron has always been overshadowed so he sees himself as the best of all of them. Old movie he says. 🙄 I was 13 when Jaws premiered in 1975.

ESPECIALLY for the final movies. but from here on out it'll be worth it and glimpses in to more of their phenomenal acting chops. especially for Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry. ♥ All I'll say now is they were close and she loved her sister very much.

A lot more details are in the books. Yes, spells can go wrong. Specifically and especially when they are pronounced wrong. I have a theory that his accent is why he blows up most of his spells. He also strangely gets mixed up with Neville for some reason

Philosopher's Stone is the more faithful title, because it is an item of mythology in our own world. For the movie, it was only changed in the US version because they didn't think the kids would get what a philosopher is. Sorcerer's Stone is basically the dumbed down title.
@Goomyx1492
@Goomyx1492 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say "dumbed down" title, I would say outright incorrect title. The reason was always dumb anyway. It's not like the term "Philosopher's Stone" has stopped FMA and FMAB from being huge hits in the U.S.

While catching the Snitch is a crucial part of the game, it doesn't always guarantee victory. This is because the team that catches the Snitch is awarded 150 points, which is a significant amount, but it doesn't necessarily make up for the point differential between the two teams. For example, if one team is leading by more than 150 points, catching the Snitch won't be enough to win the game. Therefore, Quidditch is a game of strategy and teamwork. Captains must make decisions about when to focus on scoring goals versus when to try to catch the Snitch. Seekers must be skilled at catching the Snitch while also avoiding being knocked off their brooms by opposing players. And the rest of the team must work together to defend their own goals and prevent the other team from scoring. Overall, Quidditch is a fast-paced and exciting sport that requires a combination of skill, strategy, and teamwork. The Golden Snitch is just one part of the game, and catching it doesn't always mean you'll win.

The women teacher that can turn into a cat is named Professor Minerva McGonagall... She is the Deputy Head-Mistress (2nd in command to Dumbledore), Head of Gryffidnor house and she teaches Transfigeration class. Minerva McGonagall is very strong witch who is amazing at Transfiguration, she's a stern, yet caring teacher that will help anyone, even students from other houses than her own (hufflepuff, ravenclas & slytherin). She is also a huge Quidditch fan, as you can tell by her adding Harry even though he;s so young and the fact she buys him his first broom before the match,.

Fun fact: If a quidditch team seeker catches a snitch they don't auto win. The team gets 150 points and the game ends. Which means if it was 160 to 0 and the losing teams seeker gets the snitch the game ends 160 to 150 meaning the team who ended the game loses.

They had "fullscreen" movies (16:9, etc) since before the 50s. The problem was that TVs were not anything other than 4:3 until the late 90s at the earliest. This is why if you ever watch an old VHS tape, it's always prefaced with "This film has been modified from it's original version. It has been modified to fit this screen."
