To me Jimin’s the best dancer not only in Kpop and his style is not able to copy. After jimin’s success many other kpop groups absorbed new members who learned morden contemporary dance but almost all of them are unnatural in dancing kpop dance style. And I actually love his personality more than his vocal then more than his dance. He is just amazing.

The reason there is so little idols from contemporary styles turned into hiphop dancers is because its extremely hard to make it natural. Even Jimin struggled at first and almost got cut off multiple times. This just spoke how hardworking he is to get into different genres that are extremely opposite from each other. He manage to incorporate both styles until he looks very natural in both genres.

​@Ikmal Haikal Your comment would be correct IF Jimin had never danced Hip Hop. But he did, even while attending the Art highschool. His background is as much Hip Hop (in fact it was his 1st love) as it is contemporary / modern. Like the video pointed out, he debuted as main dancer so no way could it have been his (lack of) Hip Hop dancing skills that were the issue. It must have been the overall transition into becoming an idol as well as fitting into a group, this done in a very short period of time. Jimin himself said in an interview (I think it was Rolling Stones India) that he at first thought his contemporary/ modern dance background might be a hindrance as an idol but it turned out to be an asset instead, him merging the various dance styles to become a Jimin only style. Dance genius.

@@maggan2808 my comment still stand even though Jimin danced hip hop at first. Thats why I said this just speak about his hardwork ethics. He got into hiphop, popping and locking at first. Then, decided to get into modern dancing which is very far from hiphop. Its not easy to switch genre that is very opposite to each other. He immersed himself fully when he got into busan arts highschool that even his teachers said that he can be a modern contemporary dancer if he keeps learning. However, like I said, transitioning from a different genre to another different genre that is very opposite of each other is hard. He danced hiphop, which he was good at. Then, he danced modern art fully, which he was also good at. Then, he needed to return again to hiphop and also kpop dance. I'm not sure why you're saying his dancing wasn't the reason he was almost cut off, while he said it multiple times that he had a hard time because he needed to transition his dancing genre. He said it, their choreographer, song son deuk said it and a lot of staffs said it. Of course, him arriving 6 months before their debut put him in a lot of pressure as well since the team was almost complete and they weren't sure to let Jimin debut with them. Regarding the interview in Rolling Stone, that is very true that modern dancing has become his asset. But thats why I said this just emphasised his hardworking nature because he managed to combine both genres that are so extremely opposite of each other and made them his own. Most dancer will lean into one side or another. But Jimin is good at both.

❣Jimin already at early age of 10, started studying hip hop at the renowned Just Dance Academy, in Busan, city where Jimin’s from, which teaches all the many different styles of hip hop. There is even a post made that shows a performance where young again 11 Jimin in 2007, not only performed already, on right front side of stage, but later on went in front and did a solo. JIMIN also competed, excelling in popping, & isolation moves, winning every competition. JIMIN also since a little boy, trained 8 yrs in various forms of martial arts: Taekwondo (blackbelt), Hapkido, Kendo, & Chinese martial arts. This was aside from still attending middle school Jimin, where he was already into all kinds of sports, including being part of soccer team,, but also basketball, even joined after school billiards, also excelling in track & field throughout his schooling. Then, while going to Busan Highschool of the Arts, he then also studied & performed contemporary. Media even called Jimin “The rising star of Busan” after seeing Jimin perform on stage during a huge festival. JIMIN also studied, some ballet as well as even traditional Korean dance. But Jimin’s main love was always hip hop. Though he did enjoy dancing contemporary, which Jimin indeed excels at, to this day all his dance movements, have his exquisite body placement, amazing elegant, poised, clean lines, as well as he also always stands, even without dancing, with out-turned feet, his foot positions always end up while dancing in classical out turned foot position, placement that classically trained dancers have. Jimin found he could express himself even more through contemporary dance. Very few dancers have the ability to dance as many styles of dance as well as have the ability to incorporate all of them, even his gravity defying, martial arts, moves in his dance. There’s a reason Jimin was not only give the official title of Main Dancer & Lead Vocalist, but has been awarded the prestigious titles for 4 yrs in a row for Best Dancer of Kpop, as well as King of Kpop. Jimin is called Stage Commander for a reason, his stage presence is on another level. Jimin is also called “Rookies Bible” because all rookies look up to him, watching his performances over & over, trying to emulate, & learn from his unmatchable, flawless, precise moves. So many trainees & rookies choose his songs to try to copy when competing, though even without singing, but just focusing on dance, always still fail to even come close.

Jimin and JHope are both the main dancers. Neither is “above” the other. As for the rest- JK is lead dancer, so he’s after them, and V is just considered a dancer. On the flip side- with vocals, JK is main vocalist. Jimin is lead vocalist. And Jin+V are vocalists. JK and Jimin are the only ones who are both a main and a lead.
