My husband had season tickets for the Pistons. I got to witness a lot of legends doing legendary ish! The Chicago/Detroit rivalry was strong in those days and made for entertaining and exciting games!

I can say that The Bad Boys were nasty, and nasty good. It took Jordan a few years to crack the code. I thought those years with Pistons, Bulls, Lakers and Celtics were my favorite.

Joe Dumars is now the VP of basketball operations for the NBA. He was also the only player Jordan never trash talked. Joe was the “good guy” on the “bad boys”. I loved Joe. He’s from Natchitoches Louisiana. He went to high school at Natchitoches Central.

Ok first things first. The Pistons were a great team without the dirty play. They really didnt need to do that bs....they had a loaded team with a nice bench & a legendary coach. Also when Mike finally beat them....THEY WERE NOT OLD. Stop saying that bs. Its a 2 yr age gap. As for the league cleaning up the dirty play. I mean what do you expect. Nobody wants to see players purposely try to iniure one another....which the Pistons tried to do. As a Bulls fan...I remember those games vividly. The Pistons were flagrant fouling like a mf....& the refs wouldn't call shid.

They weren’t old in age, but as far as, being a title contender, they were “old”. Since 85, they played in nothing less than Conference Finals’s until ‘92. That’s 7 straight years of playing at the highest level, with little recovery (they played deep into the playoffs, therefore having less rest compared to their competition.

@@johnnyblingg Either way they still wasn't old. 7yrs isn't a long time...yall stay reaching. Maybe if they had a 15yr run to the playoffs then ok I could agree. But the only old player Mike played in the playoffs was Magic.

@@johnnyblingg The Celtics and Lakers had been in the conference finals/championships since 1980-88 and 91 respectively. Except for the 1.5 years Micheal didn't play, the Bulls were in the Conference finals or Champions from 90-98. The pistons were in the Eastern conference finals 87-91. 1986 the Bucks/Celtics and 1992 Bulls/Cavaliers.

@@crharper25 7 years isn’t a long time? Yeah IRL, but in sports, especially back in the day, spending almost a decade in the conference finals/finals is incredibly taxing. A 15 yr run in the playoffs is the only time you’d give credit? You realize MJ’s entire title run was 6-7 years as well? Is MJ’s run not impressive? MJ even took a season off, which is something Zeke and the Bad Boys never got.

You know what, I find it funny that there are people saying they changed the rule to benefit Jordan when in fact, it's to benefit every player because of how some players/teams would be too intense with physicality. It just happen that Jordan took advantage of the new set of rules but the fact that they had to go intense just to stop Jordan is not something to be taken lightly. Today, NBA players need to be extra careful with their defense because if you get a bit too enthusiastic with defending, you could easily get a foul call. Heck, even acting like you got fouled (flopping) could make you get a foul call which is really hilarious and a certain self-proclaim King is great at it.

That's CAP!! Laimbeer is over here trying to take credit as if they forced MJ into playing team ball. By 89 and 90, MJ was already playing team ball which is what got them in a game 7 for the ECF. Bill really hates MJ and will take a dig every chance he gets. Same with Salley, Thomas and Mahorn. Dumars speaks highly of MJ because he recognizes what they did to him and knows it wasn't really fair but he respects how he forged through it. But for Bill to say MJ didn't win until he played team ball is LAME!!
@DesroQc
@DesroQc Жыл бұрын
Big facts ! MJ got them to a game 7 twice ! The first time Scottie only played a couple of minutes while MJ scored 32pts on 50% shooting, and the second time Pippen scored 2 pts, shooting 1/10 from the field while MJ scored over 30 and finished top scorer of the playoffs without even playing in the finals. And Laimbeer claiming that they lost because they got old is another false narrative to try to discredit Jordan. Laimbeer was 31 I think and every other key members of that team were in their late 20s. The difference was Scottie finally stepping up to the plate... Edit : Laimbeer was 33.

Basically, Detroit knew Jordan was carrying the Bulls. He had no backup. Detroit would play physical with Jordan... double, triple, quadruple teaming him. Jordan still got his numbers, but their goal was to force Jordan to pass and make his teammates beat them. Jordan was passing, but had no help. It wasn't until Pippen and Grant started averaging double digits, that they finally surpassed Detroit. The Pistons didn't get older, they just weren't willing to change their style. The plan they had stopped working because the Bulls now had players that could start knocking down those shots that they were willing to let them have. Detroit wasn't willing to adapt and kept trying to play the way their team was built... and as a result were left in the dust.
