Senpai (先輩) is like a superior -in any environment/field, most often used in formal speech and maybe in a casual sense (though in that context it still upholds the notion of honorific language). San (~さん) is slightly more casual than it is strictly formal and can be used for strangers or even friends (depending on the relationship). Sama (様) is used for business, mail, politics, extreme formalities, royalty, etc. It is never used casually and in conversation tone will hint at sarcasm or seriousness. Chan (ちゃん) is the feminine casual version for san, and is used for women (not sure how it works with non-binary people). You usually have to know the person on a closer level than acquaintances and age still comes into play (it can be seen as rude to call someone older chan). Kun (くん) is basically the same thing just used for men. Specific pronouns are omitted and usually replaced with the persons first or last name with one of the endings depending on the relationship. 彼 (kare) and 彼女 (kanojyo) are he and her but they can also mean boyfriend and girlfriend -they also hint at a lack of relationship, implying that the person doesn't know them personally or really anything about them so they would have to use a gendered pronoun. あなた (anata) and 君 (kimi) both mean you and can bath be disrespectful, but kimi is more offensive because people use it as a confrontational version of you (specifically, usually men use it when they want to start a fight/argument) -kimi can also be used with really close friends and people you are romantically interested in or dating. 私 (watashi) and 僕 (boku) are like the personal pronoun for chan and kun, except boku can also mean you in a casual manner (not too sure if the same applies to watashi). 私たち(watashitachi) is us/we and 皆 (minna) means yall/everyone (that the speaker is speaking to) -adding san to minna makes it more polite and formal. Referring to anyone else's family but your own, unless you know the family well and they tell you it's okay to address them by family name, would require the san ending お母さん (okaasan), お父さん (otousan), 弟さん(otoutosan), etc. Age also plays a part in the way family members are categorized, namely between siblings and your children -お姉さん (oneesan) is not the same as 妹さん (imoutosan) as the first is older sister and the second is younger sister. 兄弟 (kyoudai) does mean sibling but it's gendered version specifically refers to brother and some men might call close guy friends who are like family kyoudai (not too sure how concrete and common that is, might be dated). Probably missed something but this is what I remember at the top of my head lol, it was sparked when y'all asked what senoai meant.

I only recently found your channel bcs of Euphoria bcs I was looking for reacts to s02ep5 and suddenly this pops up in my recommended. I'm excited to see your reaction to JJK, it has become probs my favorite new age anime. Also when people say things like "this is my first or second anime" to me it's just so WILD. I've been watching anime since I was like 3 years old (I'm 25), I never watched Discovery Kids or things like that, I watched anime. I watched a looooooooooooot of 90s and very early 2000s anime. Currently, the only new age anime I watch is JJK and MHA (also the only 2 manga i keep up with). Anyway, I really hope you enjoy it! The movie is coming out in the cinema in my country on March 24th (official Japanese release date was December 24), and I believe it's gonna come out in Crunchyroll soon as well, so I hope by the end of your s01 watch, you'll have access to the movie as well (which is a canon prequel).
