Yeah so when they start singing at the beginning, it’s an ancient pirate distress signal, so that when sung, the Nine Pieces of Eight start to hun/ring, telling all the Pirate Lords to gather as their way of life is being threatened. This is why Sao Feng put the coin to his ear when Barbossa tossed it to him, to prove the song was sung

So many people always question that part. I always said the Dutch man is literally an unsinkable ship and Beckket doesn't know davey jones is dead and will is now captain. Then you got the black peral which is a insanely dangerous ship to go up against especially with barbosa and jack both as captains. Then beckkets ship may have 40 odd cannons but they are slow I do belive and the other 2 are bigger cannons faster and more powerful. Then he froze and couldn't do anything.

He stood no chance against the Dutchman, let alone the Pearl combined with it, and he understood that in that moment Jack had won. It was, as he says himself, “just good business.” I think that’s the significance of the scene, his acceptance not his confusion.

That look from Liz and the conversation with Will about Jack’s return wasn’t about a love thing. It was about him finding out she essentially killed him. Will didn’t know, and Jack let it be known when he said “one of you succeeded” and Will knew she was the last to see him. He was calling it out and she was basically saying she made a bad call.

The song at the beginning, _Hoist the Colors,_ was written for the show to tell the tale of Calypso, Jones, and the Court. Below is my analysis. *The Chorus:* _Yo ho, haul together_ _Hoist the colors high_ _Heave ho, thieves and beggars_ _Never shall we die_ The chorus is sung numerous times within the song. It's basically telling the pirates, full of thieves and beggers, to get ready to set sail. The lyrics here are obvious in meaning. *First verse:* _The King and his men_ _stole the Queen from her bed_ _and bound her in her bones_ The King was the Pirate King at that time, and while his identity is unknown, I believe him to be Jones himself. The King's men refers to the Brethren Court. The Queen is Calypso, her bed is the sea, and binding her in her bones refers to binding her to her human form. _the seas be ours and by the powers_ _where we will we'll roam_ The seas literally belong to the pirates due to having power over Calypso. *Second verse:* _Now some have died_ _and some are alive_ _and others sail on sea_ This is a reference to the chorus of the song, which mention the pirates as thieves and beggars. This part of the verse is obvious in meaning. _with the keys to the cage_ _and the Devil to pay_ The "keys" to the cage are the nine Pieces of Eight, which were used to bind Calypso. The Devil refers to Davy Jones himself since he's the one that told the Brethren Court how to bind her; he's also a devil of sorts, or what I like to call, an ocean-bound Hades. _we lay to Fiddler's Green._ Fiddler's Green is an after-life of paradise for sailors where a fiddle never stops playing, but in the POTC universe, it is a tavern located in Davy Jones' locker. It might have a fiddle playing inside to fit the narrative. *Third verse:* _The bell has been raised_ _From it's watery grave..._ _Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?_ _A call to all_ _Pay head the squall_ _And turn your sails to home!_ This entire verse may refer to the scene of POTC where the pirates sing their song, and the Brethren Court is summoned to join together. A "all pirates unite" type of moment.

I was just thinking while watching you watch that this could be the best one and it's probably also my favorite but then again you can't appreciate it as much if you haven't seen the first two but that final epic battle at sea and Jack brought back from the dead and will dying and coming back as immortal sea ghost captain just makes this one the most epic

A fun tidbit Major, they were originally going to reveal that Jack betrayed Beckett because he wanted Jack to sell slaves, as Jack worked under him at once point, but the chose to change it FOR. SOME. REASON??? (And yes I'm very salty about it) As they said; Beckett: "I ordered you to deliver the cargo, you chose to liberate it..." Captain Jack: *looks at brand* "...People aren't cargo, mate..." Also, the reason Beckett froze up was because this was everything he had worked so hard to plan come crashing down. His genocide of the pirates would eventually bring the Pirate Lords together, putting them all in one place so he could kill them all more easily, he planned for Jack to betray his comrades (even though he didnt in the end), he planned to ally with Sao Feng and eventually kill him, and he knew the Pearl and Dutchman would fight and only one would survive. No matter who it was he would've just killed them either way. But now two of the greatest ships on the sea were against him, and now he was outgunned and outmatched. He probably could have put up a fight, but saw doom either way. That's what I think at least.

Each movie becomes more fantastical in story telling. The first seems like a normal historical-fiction pirate movie, and then "you best start believing in ghost stories Miss Turner, you're in one". 2nd introduces the mythology of Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman (touching on Kalypso). 3rd goes all in on a pirate/seafaring lore. Along with Star Wars, a true predecessor to the MCU.

This is one was so strong on my heart. I loved the wedding scene with Will and Elisabeth and how funny is it to see Hector Barbossa marrying them both off in the middle of fight and a huge storm. And honestly, I felt so bad when I thought for a second that Will was going to die and when Joans stabs him and the look on Jacks face, the fact that you seen that look on him at all, it shows how much he did love Will. But damn then Will becomes the new leader. I loved this movie. I loved this reaction.

There is no love triangle. Elizabeth only felt guilty for using Jack’s attraction to her as a device to kill him. I honestly hate the Jack/Elizabeth ship. Romance, real or fictional, should never be built around their interactions. So toxic.

Agreed. She felt guilty, and paid as a consequence of sacrificing Jack (even if it did ward of the kraken) with distrust from Will and having to journey to literally Davy Jone's Locker to retrieve him.

Out of all five even this is my favorite as well. I loved how much back and forth the pirates kept doing. The next two though are just a fun watch, I would say the first three are like the legit story and what not. Bill can’t take over, Bill was cursed and died and became apart of the Dutchmen. So he technically doesn’t have a heart to give to the Dutchmen. 😊 You answered as a typed that but I’ll leave it for ya.

At least the way I understood it, the service of the Flying Dutchman's captain only ends when he is killed. That's why Bootstrap Bill couldn't take over: The only way he could actually do that would be by killing his son. It's not the kind of job where you can just casually put in a 2 week notice and walk out.

Yep. Gotta stab the current captains heart and replace it with your own. Will becoming the captain of the Dutchman was the only way to keep him alive. Also the Dutchman crew gaining their human bodies again is because Davy shunned his duty to ferry the dead, so the curse turned him and his crew into monsters. Because Will hadn't shunned anything, his crew are human.

For Will's dad to take over, he would have to stab Will's heart and then replace it with his, but that would kill Will. Will died and the only way he can "live" is as he is now. There is no way for him to be freed.

Davy Jones and the crew became monstrosities because he stopped ferrying the dead to the afterlife after Calypso (Tia Dalma) didn't show up after 10 years. When Will took over it reset basically. They were never supposed to look like that.

This was a awesome movie!! Wish Liz and will have a happy ending. Part four and five the movie more focus on captain sparrow. Not one mention of will and Liz. They should have make a happy ending for them but they didnt go that route for the last two movie they made. All five movie is good to me

Yes pirates were hung. Unless they came to work for a government they were usually hung if they were captured even in the American West horse thieves cattle rustlers they were also hung. People convicted of murder were also hung.
