People who tell you not to watch korra, are just buthurt that its not on the same level as the last airbender, so they overcompensate saying its trash. In my opinion Korra is still easily in the top 10 best animated shows of all time. though admittedly not as high as the last airbender. Most of that is the fault of nickelodeon, not letting the creators know how many seasons they would have to tell a story, so its missing an overarching plotline like in the last airbender. But yea definitely want to see your reaction to it fs!

Him laughing at her the entire time put a nasty taste in my mouth. Her character had a huge moment weather you liked her or not. She had huge character development as well and is probably the best villain to ever be written. Where you see them not physically beat, but emotionally. To have lost everything. Even the trust of the people around you. It’s a rather sad story. And to see him constantly laugh at it really makes it seem like his reactions arent genuine but rather for entertainment

Have to say kinda disappointed that you skipped the scene where Azula hallucinates her mother AND the scene where she breaks down and cries. Azula’s mental breakdown was a really heartbreaking but poignant and well written part of the finale and it’s sad you cut those reactions.

Omg I was thinking the same thing because for some reason a lot of us can relate to Azula's pain with our own even if it doesn't make sense or it's very exotic/crazy we still see moments like that happen to us. So her display of that sadness along with rage is so powerful and captures so much emotions that really do stand out for the character.

Quick fact, Grey DeLisle, who plays Azula, refuses to watch the breakdown scene. The reason is, when she was recording, she asked everyone to leave her alone, went into the booth and, according to her, dug deep into her traumas, and to this day she says watching it would very likely bring that back and she doesn't want to go there ever again.

Zuko is often named as one of, if not the best redemption arc on TV. He goes from being a somewhat sympathetic antagonist in season 1, to a complex anti-hero in season 2, to finally a real hero in season 3. Such a complex and fleshed out character arc with progress, backsliding, regrets and important realizations.

Azula is such a complex, well written character. She was introduced as a ruthless and manipulative psychopath whilst still being entertaining and badass along the way. But in season 3 her character was given major development and we as an audience begin to recognise that Azula, despite how evil she is, is still just a 14 year old girl who had been bred to be the way she was by her d*ckhead father. Zuko thankfully went along the correct path in the end thanks to Iroh, but Azula didn’t have anyone to help her do the same. Her mother had left, her best friends had betrayed her , and she had realised deep down that Ozai didn’t really love her. This combined with the immense pressure of becoming the fire lord completely ruined her sanity and lead to her having a mental breakdown. Especially in the scene when she’s chained up and is crying and screaming. You can feel the pain of Azula as we watch her entire world crumble beneath her. It’s really quite masterful and an incredibly nuanced portrayal of a villain - perhaps one of the best villain arcs of all time. It’s the second best character arc in ATLA imo after Zuko’s. I have to admit, it was anticlimactic that you didn’t include that scene in your reaction. I would’ve loved to have seen your thoughts on Azula, and I can’t fathom why you felt compelled to leave that scene out whilst editing this video. It’s not like it’s an irrelevant scene, it’s pretty hard to miss. Oh well 😔

it's so hard for me to comprehend how amazing Azula was, and what she could've been if she wasn't constantly shaped and formed into a merciless war machine from a child, only getting praised for her evilness. She was TRULY powerful, honestly i'd bet money if she wasn't raised by The Fird Lord, and didn't see him as a father ( a weak spot), Azula could take him. She is literally an master lightning bending at what?? 14? In the comics she is probably the most broken next to the avatar (not counting blood bending T-T) in terms of elemental bending and capabilities.

Aang sounds older because he is. Aang, Sokka, toph, and katara's voice actors were all around their characters ages when they began the show (Zack, who voices Aang, was 12) and the creators fought against recasting when Zach's voice changed. I think that really adds to the show since even though it's only 1 year in universe you see just how much he's grown and matured so the change in his voice actually complements him in the end.

Yesss I’ve been waiting for this reaction lol Edit: just finished lol and kinda disappointed. Azula is one of the most well written character yet he barely included any of her meltdown scenes?

29:30 Something to note is that Aang is the last of his people, culture and race. Him killing the fire lord not only goes before what he stands for, but what his culture is about. He would be sacrificing the remaining aspects of his culture for the world. A "why loose your soul to gain the world?" Type of thing. I honestly believe if Yangchen was the last of her people, she would've done the same as Aang. Furthermore, Kyoshi didn't say he should kill Ozai, just that he needs to do whatever it takes to save the world. And if it so happens to lead to death, then so be it.

Damn that was a let down. Azula is perhaps the most well written character in ATLA, after Zuko of course, and watching her slowly go insane in the finale was so heartbreaking but well crafted. Especially the scene where she completely falls to pieces and screams and cries whilst in chains. But you completely forgot to include all those scenes, like you brushed over one of the best character arcs in the entire series. 🙄🙄

Chill out, just because he didn't include it in the YT reaction or talk about it doesn't mean he "brushed over" her arc. Some people need time to process things to be able to talk about it. Also, there's so much that happens in the finale, and he had to cut many scenes to fit it all in one video. Not everyone has to process things the same way you do or talk about what YOU want. So stop whining and go watch another reaction if you didn't find what you were looking for, I promise there are many other reactors that liked or talked about Azula more.

I think Aang doesn't fully understand what the previous avatars are actually saying: Roku: Be decisive, because once it's done you can't take it back. This could also be in favor of sparing the Fire Lord, because killing him WOULD be something you can't take back. Kyoshi: Only justice will bring peace. Meaning the punishment has to fit the crime. Since firebending is the thing Ozai used to hurt so many people, it was only fitting he had it taken from him. Kuruk: Actively shape your own destiny and the destiny of the world. Meaning you have to do what you know to be right, even if no one else does. So in a sense, he was saying his instincts to spare the fire lord are correct. Yangchen: Selfless duty calls you to sacrifice your own spiritual needs, and do whatever it takes to protect the world. Yes, I know it sounds like she's saying he has to kill Ozai, but given the ending, here's how I see it in hindsight: Bending is considered sacred, and to take it from someone else would be blasphemous. But if it's what will stop him once and for all, then what choice is there, really?

About Ozai not taking Azula with him on the airship, it’s actually a subtle full circle moment for Azula. “You can’t treat me like this, you can’t treat me like Zuko!” In her official introduction at the Book 1 Finale, Ozai sent Azula on a mission just as he also sent Zuko before her. “Iroh is a traitor, and your brother Zuko is a failure. I have a task for you.” This isn’t directly shown but Azula has become a traitor and a failure in her father’s eyes offscreen. She lied to him about Zuko killing the Avatar when it was her all along, and she failed at it. She may have brought Ba Sing Se down but that’s a side quest; she went home as a hero without completing any of her main missions. After Zuko confronted his father on the Day of Black Sun, Azula got a taste of her own medicine. Just as she didn’t report the actual events at Ba Sing Se, Ozai didn’t disclose to her that Zuko ratted her out. Ozai lost his trust on Azula since the solar eclipse.

Just thinking about how when you get back to the Library episode, there's so many dots to connect. They saw a lion turtle in one of the scrolls in the library. There's also the fact that admiral Zhao found the library, stole the moon and ocean spirit scroll and burned all the fire nation stuff. He even mentions finding the library while invading the northern water tribe.

22:33 I think with fires that big raging right outside, Toph would be able to feel the rumbling as they engulfed everything they could find, and likely feel the heat and hear the roaring of the flames. THAT MUCH fire is hard to miss.

It's also worth noting that the first word spoken by a character in the first episode is "Its.." by Sokka, and the last word spoken by a character in the finale is ".. Perfect" by Toph. (not including the intro from the first episode, the first piece of dialogue). They really mapped the sh*t out of this show in every way. I'd definitely watch The legend of Korra, it follows the next avatar in the cycle but its truly amazing and includes a lot of throwback to this show, and ties in really well. I'd also check out the comics from between the two shows, they go on a lot of amazing adventures, and you finally find out what happened to Zukos mum. Plus they incorporate the spirits more and you get to see more of Koh the face stealer too. 🤙

I think what’s so crazy to think about is how when sokka was holding tophs hand to stop her from slipping off the edge, she really must’ve felt as if she was about to die because she uses her feet to see and her feet weren’t touching anything so she must’ve seen pitch black and could only feel sokkas hand.
