Ash, you're still not getting it. You can't coddle a child into being a Jedi, which is like being a warrior priest. They have to be fearless. A guy like Anakin is just too emotional and full of fear for those he loves. A guy like Anakin should never be trained to be a Jedi. They were just too intrigued by his potential and the way he seemed to fit some kind of prophecy. Yoda knew better, but was ignored. Yoda also felt, less strongly, that Luke was similarly unqualified, and Luke, for all of his similarities to his father, is a lot stronger than Anakin. Yoda still thought Luke was wrong for this. He wasn't right that time, but he had the same right ideas, and he was right about Anakin. One way or another, Anakin was way too vulnerable to being turned to the dark side--much more so than Luke.
@outtheredude3 ай бұрын
That, along with the benefit of not having Luke's ego groomed for over 10 years from childhood by Palpatine at his most charming and persuasive.
@rbrtck3 ай бұрын
@@outtheredude On the one hand, you have a point, but on the other hand, they're still two different people in two different situations, and Luke got double-teamed by the Emperor and his own father, whom he was trying to save. The Emperor gave him every reason to give in to his hatred, and when Luke decided "Hey, why not kill this evil bastard? He's too dangerous to leave alive anyway," his father then gave him every reason to doubt his faith in him and Luke himself. Betrayed by his father and his own feelings, since Vader was now aware of Leia, and with his friends and loved ones apparently on the brink of defeat and death, Luke could have given in, feeling the power of his white-hot hatred flowing through him, but ultimately he could not be turned. It is difficult to compare the two characters and situations directly, but all things considered, Luke seems stronger and more resolute to me. While I'm sure he had a healthy ego by the time he had completed his Jedi training, he wasn't naturally an egotistical narcisist (let's face it) like Anakin. I understand for Anakin and what he was put through, but he was always a prime candidate for turning to the dark side, which Yoda had worried about since he was just a cute little kid. In addition, he was a would-be, quite possibly a wannabe dictator, himself, while Luke is not. I just can't imagine Luke falling into the same trap, even if he were in the same situation. He had some of Anakin's weaknesses, but not all of them, and not as severe. He might have been tempted, but he would not have turned.
@gem3dem5 ай бұрын
If you remember in Episode I, when Qui Gon discovers how force sensitive Anakin is, the Jedi council is hesitant because Anakin is already much older than the age of which Younglings begin their Jedi training. They were trying to avoid this very issue of Anakin having emotional attachment, something which the Younglings don’t have since they’re trained at a much younger age, and that parental role is fulfilled by their assigned Jedi master. That was what Qui Gon was supposed to be for Anakin, but was left to Obi Wan after Qui Gon was killed (hence: Duel of the Fates). And while they had a very strong relationship, Obi Wan was ill prepared to take on the role and assumed more of a brotherly relationship, which left Anakin emotionally unfulfilled
@topheavykoolaid5 ай бұрын
I wonder if a better strategy would’ve been to assign new Jedi Younglings to much older retired Jedi so that if they die naturally it’s upsetting, but maybe easier to accept as a natural separation, then reassign them to younger masters when they go on assignments

I agree. I always think that on Episode 1, Darth Maul went to Tattoine to actually keep Qui-gon from getting Anakin. Or it's the other way around, making sure that Anakin would join them and while they can harm his mother.

Ahhhh but this was the inherent flaw of the Jedi: to ask intelligent, emotional living beings to constantly suppress themselves when it is an impossible thing to do. To ask someone to be unfeeling yet selfless and altruistic leads to darkness and ultimately brings out the worst traits in oneself. If you want a generalized view of the Jedi/Sith you can break it down to the Jedi believe in suppressing one’s passions while the Sith are all about fully embracing it. Neither side is totally right in their philosophy and the true answer is about having balance in oneself aka a “Grey Jedi”, a Jedi who was neither completely light or dark. A good example of this was Ahsoka, Anakin’s apprentice.

- Jango Fett is a Mandalorian, a culture in the Star Wars universe that is based on fighting and developing yourself to be the best warrior you can be. The Mando'ade welcome most species, all one must do is accept the Creed. The armor that Jango wears is Mandalorian made from Beskar, which it light and strong, and only the Mando'ade have the secrets to forge it. Kind of like the adamantium of Wolverine's claws and skeleton in X-Men. Jango's son, if you missed his name, is Boba Fett...the bounty hunter who took Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt, and fell into the Sarlacc pit. Clan Fett had a long and proud lineage among the Mando'ade, but fell before the Prequel Trilogy. - The Clone Troopers are all created from Jango, but are grown and fight for the Republic. - The reason why Mace Windu's lightsaber is purple is two-fold. 1) Samuel L. Jackson asked George Lucas if it could be purple, because he wanted to see where he was in long shots. 2) In the lore, Mace was such a powerful Jedi that he could skirt the dark side of the Force without falling to it. What happens when you mix the colors of red and blue...you get purple. - Ash, you are right about Count Dooku's saber. Where most sabers were built along the lines of seeing the Jedi like samurai (since Akira Kurosawa films were a big influence on the series), when Sir Christopher Lee was hired, George discovered that he had a fully trained fencing master playing Count Dooku. As a result, Dooku's saber is more fit for a single hand, with greater control, and precision in landing blows. It is more like a fencing saber, foil, or epee than a katana. - One thing to always remember, the Force always seeks balance. With Anakin there is a chance of the balance to happen...not giving spoilers...but there are things set in the lore beyond what is in the films that explain things further. - Obi-wan was not meant to take on Anakin, the way that Anakin would never have turned is if Qui-Gon Jinn had lived. Hannah was completely right. The key to this is the battle between Qui-Gon, Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan...the music under their fight, composed by John Williams, was titled "Duel of the Fates". It was a duel over Anakin's fate. Qui-Gon would have been a fatherly master, but with Obi-Wan...Anakin got a big brother. They both cared for each other, but Obi-Wan, as powerful and smart as he was, was unequal to the task of training Anakin. He lacked the wisdom that Qui-Gon had. - Hannah...you need to dress up as Padme for the last of the Prequels, Revenge of the Sith.

Qui-Gon was the father figure Anakin needed. Obi-Wan is the brother figure that Anakin got. Senator Palpatine had become Anakin's father figure - a bad father figure who fed Anakin's ego. FUN FACT: Actor Christopher Lee (Count Dooku) was an expert swordsman who knew his swords. The curved hilt sword he used is a Barong sword. Lee wanted his lightsaber combat style to be like the Tausug. The Tausug people use those Barong swords.

First as Watto's, then he's a slave to the Jedi, being expected to fulfill their ancient prophecy and give everything to the Jedi cause in return, and then finally he ends up a slave to the Emperor. Only in his final minutes talking to Luke is the man ever truly free: "I've got to save you-" "You already have."

Hannah is right. Anakin was so vulnerable to turning to the dark side that it was bound to happen, one way or another. The only way to have avoided this was to not train him--just let his super-strong connection to the Force be entirely wasted potential rather than be used for evil, like it was inevitably going to be.

To be fair, the Jedi way was successful for 1,000 years. It just took the right Sith (Palpatine) to see the weaknesses in their ways and exploit them. I wouldn’t go as far as to say the Jedi were wrong. Luke chose a different way and it worked to a degree. Many Jedi still fell to the dark side that followed Luke, such as Kip. Luke isn’t a better Jedi, he’s just different.
@Rocket13775 ай бұрын
It's not dumb, it was an approach that worked for over 1000 generations. Look what happened when they allowed Anakin to join the order. The temptation to use the Force for selfish reasons is exactly why they forbade personal attachments.

Another problem with allowing jedi to maintain connected to their families is their families can be used against them. Imagine you come back from a mission and find it your mom is kidnapped and being held for ransom. Then imagine her kidnappers get a message to you telling you to kill another jedi or assassinate a sensor. Having that kind of connection is too large a liability when you're as powerful as the jedi are.

But he killed it with the swagger, confidence, pain, and rage that made up for his lack of chemistry with Natalie Portman. Your post indicates that you are a silly little kid blaming your elders for your own inadequacies. Further proven that you just automatically ignored that a generation between yours and the one you have been taught to hate even exists. You are spouting silly things that someone else told you to believe and you swallowed it, hook, line, and sinker without ever questioning if the person telling you had an agenda to brainwash you.
