I suggest (and my preferred) this order of experiencing a song: a) lyric video - gets you the studio version and clearer understanding of the lyrics b) official music (VEVO) video - gets you an introduction to her imagination and production skills C) live performances in date order - gets you a whole new experience as she doesn’t copy the MV too much.

I have a request and will share the lore behind them... 1. look for a video called Taylor Swift - Dear John (Speak Now World Tour). This song is called Dear John from her Speak Now album. It was written by Taylor after a mid-30's John Mayer broke her heart when she was NINETEEN. Now, you've heard the complaints that she only writes songs about her ex boyfriends but if I were 19 and a grown man used me as his plaything, you better bet I'm writing the ultimate diss track about you! 2. look for a video called Taylor Swift - Would've, Could've, Should've (Official Lyric Video). This song is called Would've Could've Should've, from her Midnights album. This song was also written by Taylor, about John Mayer. I love these songs together. She does such a good job standing up for herself at 19, and her reflections on the relationship in her early 30's will make you *feel things*.

She also directed a short film to go along with it, but some people struggle to pay attention to the lyrics and the short film on the first watch. Her long pond studio sessions also has some that will hit you in the feels- I like "this is me trying" and "mirrorball". .... TOLERATE IT is also a fabulous song😂😂

So here's the flip side to a huge stadium production. She did this in a small theater in Paris for about 3000 people.
