I like these two episodes because it gives us a chance for the first time to see a different side of Red. We have seen that he is a man of expensive taste but here we see that he can hold his own in a combat like scenario and it gives us a deeper look into Reds organization.

The moment he dragged Elizabeth in I was like "Ohhh boy, shit's about to get real." You don't just threaten his Lizzy. Also, years in, I imagine how hard this was for Kate, just entering the house with an expressionless face, cold as a cucumber

With almost every episode i love this series more since you always get little pieces of the longer term story telling. I can never watch James Spader in another role again i think since i would always expect him to be this charismatic evil mastermind

The thing is that Spader is always this charismatic and enigmatic. Good or bad. He is a genius and a treasure. My two favorite Spader characters are Alan Shore (Boston Legal) and Raymond Redington but he is always mesmerizing.
