He kept saying it was the dad when they said earlier in this episode that the dad had died. And lead hunter down a muderous path and got locked up and become zoom and later also took the name jay garrick/ flash so he could be both the hero and villain of his world and no one would notice.

The time remnant thing is a little weird at first, I can try to explain it tho. Basically, when you traveling through time with speed force, it kind of acts like a check point. So when reverse flash got erased from existence after Eddie passed away, but he still came back later, it’s because he had at some point in his life traveled through the speed force. So when Eddie died, Eobarde was erased from the timeline, but still emerged from the speed force at the same point in time. Same thing works with zoom’s time remnant. He travels back in time a couple seconds via the speed force, meets his time remnant, and they hatch the plan. If his past self is the one that dies, the speed force protects him like a bomb shelter, preventing him from being erased from existence, and if the future self dies, he already changed his past selfs future, so he was a bit of a paradox anyway. It’s a bit confusing, and doesn’t always follow its own rules, but that’s how I’ve come to understand time remnants in this show

Barry got the idea of Cisco opening the breach after traveling to Earth 38 which he has not told the team yet where he met Supergirl. You have to watch Supergirl to catch the Crossover, and you need to, because eventually you'll have more Barry & Supergirl Crossovers, just like the Arrow Crossovers, and eventually the Legends of Tomorrow get added, and much later Batwoman, so it will basically become a Superfriends Crossover of all the shows. But Hunter Zolomon/Zoom was right, you won't believe who is in the Iron Mask until the finale!

Thanks Sara! Yeah the simple reality is that I'm just being myself. I usually don't take what's presented in front of me for granted, which ends up sometimes being justified and sometimes not. The Jay/Hunter thing is obviously something where I ended up looking into it too much, but I always remained open minded to both outcomes. I can't really do more than that so I hope most people are able to appreciate it.

The topic of time remnants is quite a mess, and I'm not sure I fully understand it, but here’s an explanation. Zoom decides to travel a few seconds or minutes into the past. Upon arriving in the past, there are now 2 Zooms (Zoom A, who is the past version, and Zoom B, who comes from the future). The presence of Zoom B means that Zoom A no longer travels to the past, so Zoom B shouldn't exist and becomes a time remnant. In this case, Zoom A can kill Zoom B because he would be killing a future version of himself that should no longer exist.

Here's one thing you need to know to fix your confusion. People can *fake* their names. Zoom's name was never Jay Garrick, Jay Garrick and Zoom were never two personalities. Zoom's name was always hunter zolomon and he pretended to be a hero called Jay Garrick. Also you're *NOT* supposed to know who the guy in the mask is, don't bother trying to find out you won't until the very end.

Seeing a handful of comments complaining that Robin is overthinking the show too much and remembers things wrong sometimes, but I actually really enjoy that about these reactions. Too many reactors just sit there staring at the episodes with a blank expression so it's always great to see someone really getting into the show and spitting out a lot of theories as they watch along. In this case he was clearly wrong about the whole Jay and Hunter thing because he thought Jay was the dad, which is a pretty valid mistake to make because they had similar names (Jay and James) and the dad's actor actually looks a lot like Hunter/Zoom/Fake Jay (pretty great casting there honestly). I also can't blame him at all for being confused here because seeing Zoom kill his own time remnant really makes you question how that works, and considering this season's entire theme is about Earth-2 and its döppelgangers it's a very logical thing to assume a Hunter Solomon/Jay Garrick doppelganger is somehow involved, instead of: Zoom being a time remnant; Zoom simply lying about his name being Jay; and somehow nobody on Earth-2 having ever noticed that their version of The Flash looks identical to a very famous serial killer. Robin might misremember some things every now and then but by the end of the episode he still got there, he just needed that final puzzle piece of the time remnant explanation. Also I've been watching his Arrow reactions and those actually make me very glad that he seems to have forgotten some names and faces. There's been some things in crossover episodes with the Flash that he's watched that are actually major spoilers for Arrow, but because he didn't fully remember those things he doesn't actually recognise them as spoilers by the time they came up in Arrow. Like he's basically had spoilers but because he didn't realise they were spoilers they didn't actually spoil anything for him. So yeah I can't blame the guy for not remembering every last detail of all the different shows he's watching, and sometimes it can actually work to his advantage like this

We will find out who the man in the iron mask is (and what he has to do with Jay) in the last episode of season 2, until then just forget about him. The Jay Garrick we have known this whole season was just a facade, he lied to Barry, Katlyn, and everyone about his name and backstory. We know his real name is Hunter Zolomon, he is a serial killer who got superspeed during Earth-2's particle accelerator explosion; afterwards he decided to become Zoom. Then (I believe this was in the episode you just watched; if not... I'm sorry) he got bored and came up with his super hero persona "The Flash" (again, this is on Earth-2). Now, we know he made a serum to grant him more speed (Velocity-9; or it's earlier versions), and while this worked, it also made him sick. He pretended to lose his speed, when in truth he always had it. Taking Barry's speed did cure him of his sickness, but his lightning is still blue. This wasn't explained on the show, but I have a theory. Perhaps Zoom's lightning color is still blue because he is, not only able to reach a higher speed then Barry, but is also using all his speed all the time - instead of just some of it (at least enough not to disintegrate in midair like that female speedster "Trajectory"). Maybe the blue lightning means you have reached a certain speed, but usually a speedster's body can't handle it (even with the speed force protecting them), but now Zoom can handle it after taken Barry's speed. This could also mean if Zoom used less speed, he could change his lightning color from blue to yellow (like Barry's). This could explain the moments we saw Jay use his speed with yellow lightning, even though he was already Zoom with his signature blue lightning. Also, I know the concept of "Time Remnants" is confusing, but how I always saw it is - they are speedsters who come from a broken, or erased, timeline. Essentially a speedster runs back in time (usually just a few seconds) which results in two versions of himself - his "present-day self" and his "future self"). I don't know which version of Jay died (the present version or the future version), I have always thought it must have been the future version who died because 1) if the present version died then so would the future version (which wouldn't make sense), and 2) if the future version died - because he isn't a part of the current timeline any more (since the future version went back in time a few seconds and the present version didn't do the same thing to become him; resulting in a slightly different timeline) - it wouldn't make a difference if he died sense the present version didn't follow his actions and travel back in time as well (meaning he wouldn't end up dying too). But now I think it works differently, if you recall Harry said the Reverse Flash was a Time Remnant because the speed force (the source of a speedster's power) protected him from being erased when Eddie (his ancestor) died - but only because he first traveled in time using his speed. This may mean the speed force may protect a speedster when their timeline is erased after or while they time travel (at least for a while or sometimes). This may mean Jay could run back in time a few seconds and kill his past-self without being erased from existence. Honestly, I am not entirely sure myself. You might have to just suspend your disbelief and accept that speedster's can create copy's of themselves using time travel.

1) Barry being a complete numbskull for forcing the opening of the portal, despite everyone he respects telling him it is a bad idea. *sigh*. They'd already determined Zoom was dying from a cellular breakdown. His death was only a matter of time. 2) Earth 2 James Zolomon was the abusive dad. He was exhibiting severe PTSD from being a soldier in the War of the Americas (basically Earth 2's equivalent of a World War), hence his uniform and dough-boy war helmet. Earth 2 Hunter Zolomon was the kid who was given that helmet, witnessed his mom's murder, was put in the orphanage, and went nuts becoming a major serial killer who was captured and put into an institution for the criminally insane where he was given electroshock therapy in a vain attempt to correct his killer urges. He received one of those treatments when the Earth 2 particle explosion happened, giving him his initial speed powers. At some point he creates a Time Remnant duplicate of himself who takes the name Jay Garrick and pretends to be a good guy, Earth 2 Flash, fooling Earth 2 Harrison Wells. (I'm not entirely sure why Wells and the crowd of a previous episode didn't recognize the infamous serial killer, Hunter Zolomon, when speaking with the Flash, since Wells stated Zolomon's face was "instantly recognizable", but maybe the long hair and mustache hid his appearance enough. It's been years since I've seen the episode, and some explanation might have been in it.) Time Remnant Jay Garrick's job on Earth 1 was to help Barry get faster, basically "fatten him up" for Zoom to eventually steal his power. So he maintained his heroic "anti-Zoom" deception, although it does look like he started to develop a bit of a personality and choices separate from Zoom, possibly due to their long separation. I hope that, and others' comments, help clarify.

The Flash does time travel differently, the way it works is through the speed force itself. In real life the theory of time traveling through speed is that an object or person, structure, etc. has to reach light speed, when you approach the speed of light time slows down, when hit light speed time stops. Albert Einstein theorized that the speed of light is the fastest speed achievable by a moving object, however, in 2018 scientists in NASA discovered certain particles in space that actually move much faster than light speed, which is 671,000,000 mph. Originally the way time travel would work through speed itself would be a one way trip, time would slow down and you would travel through it, but it wouldn't reverse, you could only go forward not backward. In order to time travel to the past you would need some method of bending the laws of space and time, then creating a bridge to that time period you wish to travel to, in addition you would only be able to jump the timeline, as soon as you move to a new timeline you could never go back to the old one, If you were to mess with something in the past, you would create a paradox, it's basically an infinite loop because you would set time on a path of something repeating due to you not existing in the current timeline you are in, you would set a point of travel and a point of mistake, meaning that moment would have to happen again and again. The only way you could fix a paradox would be if you could manipulate time on a conceptual level, allowing you rewrite the laws of time itself, and do whatever you want with no consequences, in this sense, you are basically manipulating an imaginary version of time, this version would not be connected to existence due to it being imaginary because your not manipulating existing time, you are manipulating any time concepts, it could also be called absolute time control. Overall the way the show does time travel is never properly explained and the show did that on purpose so they could just blame any inconsistencies on time travel. The laws of time travel in the flash changes like 7 or 8 times, and they contradict a lot of things explained previously when it comes to time travel. It will probably hurt your head to think about, especially when they keep changing time travel rules in the show that isn't at all consistent with what rules had been previously set.
