To clarify the whole "Aries" bit in the boat, Eric had just been pointing out the various constellations and Aries was one of them, so she used it as a way to help him learn her name since it's similar.

The siren song is supposed to captivate Prince Eric, hence he’s so obsessed in finding Ariel after hearing her singing. The original fairy tale mentions merfolks’ sirens will draw humans to the ocean (and then eventually drown and kill them 😐).

loved your reaction! fun fact, when ariel is on land with eric as they roam throughout the village before 'kiss the girl', the lady who hands ariel the dinglehopper (fork) is the original voice of ariel (jodi benson) from the 1989 classic!! loved this movie so much so it makes me so happy to see first-time watchers enjoy it! subbed as soon as I saw you enjoying it!

doubtful cause it under performed, some say flopped others barely made even and some barely made little profit, neither of this is good news for a chance for a sequel and that's cause ppl are fed up from Hollywood trying to virtue signal with gander and race swapping, i mite watch when i have the time but most don't cause of this reasons they should have made a movie about Ariel friend who is black in the original story but they race swapped Ariel for virtue signaling and to get controversy, but that doesn't work forever, eventually ppl get sick of it, some gets sick of the virtue signaling others from the drama Hollywood purposely creates knowing ppl's reactions

they really didnt go into detail about prince eric, you are right. this film was able to give layers to all of the characters the original couldnt. also her siren song is "magic" its how she saved his life.

Scuttle here is a northern gannet a diving bird that dives down from very high and flap-swim around to catch face and they have funny looking stripes on their faces and goofy grins 😀

There are some brief scenes with Prince Eric`s family and friends in the animated film, basically the point of the scenes is to show even before they meet Eric and Ariel are in very similar situations, being sheltered royalty, one land-based, the other ocean-based and Ursula takes advantage of them.

Also a fun Little Easter egg is at 23:30 the woman who gives Ariel the Fork is actually the Original Little Mermaid, the Voice from Disneys Animated movie Jodi Benson I was so happy when I saw her in the movie & so cute she said “You’ll be needing this” as she gave her the fork cuz of the OG movie Ariel also used the “Dinglehopper” (the fork) too. It was almost like a Passing of the Torch to Halle.

I think the film takes place in the Atlantic in or near the Caribbean. Thanks for your reaction! In the animated movie, Eric literally has no personality or desires and we never see his parents. They did him so dirty. He's much more well rounded in this version.

Your review is so entertaining to watch especially from someone with no knowledge of The Little Mermaid. So TLM was a TV cartoon on Disney in the 80s and in 1989 they made the original movie. It only focuses on Ariel. We don't learn anything about Eric other than he's a prince under some pressure to settle down with a wife. What I love about the live action is they gave Eric more backstory and fleshed out why he and Ariel fall in love. It made the story more dynamic. There is an animated sequel where Ariel's daughter dreams of being a mermaid. Ariel decides to keep her daughter from the sea because Ursula's sister Morgana makes threats. But Melody is just like Ariel. They could also do a sequel of Ariel/Eric and their voyages.
