After a powerful storm damages their Maine home, David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his young son head into town to gather food and supplies. Soon afterward, a thick fog rolls in and engulfs the town, trapping the Draytons and others in the grocery store. Terror mounts as deadly creatures reveal themselves outside, but that may be nothing compared to the threat within, where a zealot (Marcia Gay Harden) calls for a sacrifice.

Fun fact: The short story this is based on has a different ending that leaves everyone's future ambiguous. So when the movie came out, Stephen King liked the movie's ending so much that he wished he had been the one to think of it.

The ending is one of the most sadistic middle fingers any director has given us. No other movie would have the balls to go there. Even Stephen King wished he had used this ending instead of his own.

if they had used the ending from the book, then it would’ve been a pretty damn good movie. It’s the ending alone that pretty much makes it so no one can forget they saw it..

Ok I didn't see anyone else comment on this. In reference to the artwork. It represents Stephen King's Dark Tower series. It's a picture of Roland Deschain "The gunslinger", with the Dark Tower in the background and the rose in the foreground. Both are elements weaved through the series of books.

The "short" story (180 pages long, give or take, if I'm not mistaken) appears in Stephen King's Skeleton Crew. I highly recommend it! His book Different Seasons is another collection that is definitely worth reading. It contains Apt Pupil (I believe), The Body (Stand By Me), Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption, and The Breathing Method...and I'm almost certain that both books are available online for download in PDF format at no cost (I own physical copies of them but have also had the aforementioned PDFs, too). Long days and pleasant nights to you! Happy reading!

I hope these "as we go" helps 1. In context it is similar to what King did with The Stand except in this case it's monsters and not a virus. 2. Jeffery DeMunn is known as a favorite of director Frank Darabont, who has cast him in all four of his films: "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), "The Green Mile" (1999), and "The Mist" (2007). All King adaptations. He was also in what King himself says is the best adaptation of his work. "Storm of the Century". 3. William Sadler also was in Shawshank and The Green Mile. 4. Frances Sternhagen was in "Misery" by King. 5. Marcia Gay Harden kills it. 6.The big guy that goes out with the rope around his waist "brass balls" was going to be King doing that role himself, but Darabont shot him down. 7. This is not how the book ends. Darabont wanted this ending. King later said that as horrific that it is he likes it better. What makes this ending more devastating is he has to live with it the rest of his life 🥵 8. The picture of the cowboy is an Easter egg from King's "Dark Tower series 9. Stephen King. You're welcome.

But seriously though, this is one of the most impactful endings I've ever seen in a film. I still can't watch it without crying. Fun fact: King did not come up with the idea for this ending. I've watched a few things on his channel, but if I know anything about him, he's going to be traumatized by the same scene. Everyone is traumat that scene where the dad's like? We've got nowhere to go. I'm just going to have to off everybody so they don't have to suffer whatever those things in the mister going to do to them. So he goes to shoot everybody including his son and there's not a bullet left for him and then he's just screaming about what he did and then a couple of seconds later military vehicles come through the mist. They would have been safe if he just would have waited a couple more minutes so he killed that old couple and his little boyfriend. Nothing that would be the scene. The mist is also one of my favourite films the book is also really good. Reminds me of Silent Hill as well if you have played the first game on ps1. It's got the crazy religious nut the dad and his son in this case, not daughter. The women who played cybil in the first silent hill film as his sidekick like in the game and, of course, the fog and monsters. Just the characteristics of the characters in the film it parallels a lot of the game in ways. Awesome video, guys. ✌🏻💜🇬🇧🌈
