Another one of the greats is gone. Tina Turner was the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll". She spanned over 6 decades of music. She started out with her husband Ike & had some great hits such as "Proud Mary", "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", "River Deep-Mountain High" & "Nutbush City Limits". But she had even bigger hits when she went solo such as "Better Be Good To Me", "Private Dancer", "Typical Male", "The Best", "I Don't Wanna Fight", "GoldenEye", "We Don't Need Another Hero", "It's Only Love" (duet with Bryan Adams) etc.

Tina was originally from Nutbush Tennessee. She moved to Switzerland in 1995 with her partner and future husband Erwin Bach.

Ms Turner was ADORED in the U.K. I'm amazed that you didn't "do your homework" before this video and did not really know much, if anything, about her. As recommended in a comment below, you should view her "One Last Time in Concert" from the old Wembley Stadium in 2000. She sold-out 2 consecutive nights at the venue and perhaps 150,000 people experienced her last tour (at an amazing 60 years of age), the top-grossing tour of the year. She truly was unique and her hard work as a solo artist after finally breaking with her physically, mentally, and sexually abusive husband, Ike, earned her the well-deserved title of "Queen of Rock and Roll". She was an icon very sorely missed by millions. She became a Swiss citizen years ago and she and her husband, Erwin Bach, lived in a wonderful home outside Zurich.

I was 15 years old when Tina did this on TV on the Ed Sullivan show. Across the country millions of adolescent boys like me had their hormones kick into overdrive during those few minutes. The next day at school it was the one and only topic of conversation.

Ike was an exceptionally talented musician, singer, and producer. Very influential in the development of rock and roll. He was also a son of a bItch of the highest order, and deserved to be horsewhipped from one end of a town to another. But that doesn't take away from his talent.

Thank you for doing this legend. If there was anything I had to say it would be I wish you wouldn't have had Ike in it. He beat the crap put of her for years until she finally left him. Other than that, she's amazing! RIP. She's been living in Sweden for decades.

@Kari5274 I hate people, as a rule. I'm currently embroiled in a scuffle on another channel. I broke my personal rule of never getting into an Internet scrap, but this dude is an absolute troll lol. I know he's only posting to get a response, but sometimes it's fun to engage. It s like when you get a scam caller trying to sell you something. I play along for about 15-20 minutes, then hang up and block the number. I'm mean sometimes 🤣

@@tundiel yeah, I have a guy who just decided to start with me on the snl skit BPs did a while ago about people breaking during the skits. I think it's funny when they start cracking up. He got pissy with me. He started naming names and so I did too.. He thinks it ruins it. I think it's hilarious when they can't keep it together. He wrote me 3 times and after the 2nd I was done. Then a bulletsandbracelets chick called me out for not liking country. Wth? I can't like something? I like a couple country songs but that's it. I told her to send me a song she thought I'd like and I'd listen to it. I did say I liked Dolly and redneck woman. As I've gotten older I've gotten more set in my ways. I like what I like. I will be shocked if she sends me a song. I'm tired of the trolls. The ones that wait months and then bam! They hit you with a bunch of crap. It drives me nuts. I just found out I can block. 😊

The actual title is Proud Mary. 😊 Yes, Tina was simply the best. She had many struggles in her life. I didn't catch what you described Ike as...I'm guessing it might be a word we don't use here. She finally fled after he beat her one last time to a hotel near where they were staying. Seeing what she looked like they allowed her to stay even though she had no money. She gave up a lot of song royalties just to get away from him, including this song. She also lost two sons, one to colon cancer and one to suicide. She dealt with many different health issues in the last years of her life as well. Despite everything she earned the title as legend over the decades. Have you ever heard Credence Clearwater Revival do this song? If you haven't that band in general is a must. The urban legend is that this song was at least partially about Marijuana because one of the nicknames here for it is Mary Jane. Tina wore high heels for so long she admitted once that it was painful to walk in flat shoes. I would love to see more Tina Turner songs!😊 BP1 with the moves! 😅

Ike Turner wasn't "overpowering." Ike Turner was a violent, abusive asshat, and skimming softly over what happened helps no one but the abuser. That said, I'm with another commenter -- you definitely need to check out her performance of Proud Mary at Wembley when she was twice the age she is here. Completely awesome, better than this one IMO. :)
