@@ES-gg8pd I agree with how they dealt with Mystiques character with JLaw was wrong, but in terms of apparance, Dark Phoenix had the best hair and makeup, in regard to the lighter blue skin, lack of scales and hair not slicked back with gel. Rogue's hair develops the white streak in the movie simply because Magneto's hair is white. It shows that he's left a mark on her. This actually hints at an interesting facet of Rogue as a character: They aren't very consistent with it in the films, but in the comics, she _does_ often absorb physical traits as well as memories and personality traits from the people she touches, and sometimes those traces linger a long time. The most famous example of this is when she absorbs Captain Marvel (yes, THAT Captain Marvel, then called Ms. Marvel) for so long it puts her in a coma and nearly kills her. Rogue was initially a villain, so having Carol's voice in her head forced her to question her actions and seek out Xavier for help, eventually leading her to becoming an X-man. For decades, she had Carol's powers of flight, invulnerability, and strength (as seen in the 90s cartoon), and also some of her personality traits. She struggled for a long time dealing with the aftermath, trying to separate herself from Carol, and coming to terms with the fact that she essentially took over someone else's life. Its one of the many things that makes her power so tragic; Rogue is almost never truly alone in her own head.
@MickFoley299
@MickFoley299 2 жыл бұрын
Adding to that on the Carol Danvers side, it also really messed her up as well. She had permanently lost her powers and memories. Eventually (after a lot of stuff and other powers) she did get her powers back. She also got her memories back but had no emotions connected to them. So she could remember her family but had no joy or anything connected to them. It was something that she had a lot of trouble dealing with.

Wolverine's entire skeleton (including his skull) is coated with adamantium, the most indestructible metal on Earth (much tougher than vibranium, but without the cool kinetic energy absorbing and reflecting properties of the Wakandan metal. The military upgraded him as part of a secret program because his healing factor enabled him to survive the process of having liquid metal bonded to his bones.

Aside from the regenerative ability, Wolverine/Logan has always had the claws. They were just more "bone-like" claws prior to the procedure where he had adamantly grafted to his skeleton.

In the comics, Adamantium does kind of have a connection to Vibranium. Captain America's shield in the comics is actually a Vibranium/Titanium alloy and was the only one of its kinds. After the shield was lost when Cap became frozen, they tried to recreate it. It was while trying to recreate it that they managed to create/discover Adamantium.

Blade might have been bad ass but most people only seen tht as a vampire, action, horror flick. X-men was actually a film with laser beams, controlling weather, controlling minds, telekinesis.... all tht means big budget. Once they saw the big budget would pay off, they took more chances on other films.

Jackman underestimated the preparation for the role. He thought he can get the body in a few weeks. He couldn't. They moved all the shirtless scenes all the way to the end of the movieshoot to give him more time. What you see is the result of that. Of course, back then it wasn't the norm to look the way Marvel heroes look now, as well.-

8:30 Adamantium and Vibranium are similar and also yet different. Adamantium is heavier and more dense, making it stronger/more unbreakable. Vibranium, however, is lighter, more durable, easier to wield/handle and complety vibration absorbent. But also very strong, nearly unbreakable. (Magneto is unable to control Vibranium, but he can Adamantium) Fun Fact - Adamantium is a metalic alloy made by mixing melted Vibranium and Steel together, then set to form into its permanent new alloy, Adamantium. And it can be only damaged/destroyed from extreme high temperatures

Ah, you finally get to see the famous "Magneto vs police" scene that was referenced in Wandavision. When Wanda confronted the SWORD agents, they deliberately made that scene look like this one to hint at a possible villainous vibe in Wanda. I want to go on record saying that Patrick Stewart has the world's worst upstate New York accent, and Ian McKellan has the world's worst eastern European accent. Jokes aside, Ian McKellan really killed it with the acting. He really captured the theatricality of the character. You always get the feeling that Magneto is performing for the history books because he believes future people will remember him as the savior of the mutant race. Anyway, Magneto is one of my all-time favorite villains. First, his motive is the prevention of genocide. His motive isn't merely sympathetic, but genuinely noble. It also makes him completely intractable. In his mind, anyone who opposes him in the slightest is making genocide more likely. He cannot be reasoned with, and that makes him more terrifying. After all, what moral shortcuts would YOU be willing to make in the name of preventing genocide? It gets scarier the more you think about it. Second, I love villains with valid criticisms of humanity, and he has a bunch. Long after you've put the comic book down or stopped watching the movie, you're left with the cold realization that humanity is exactly the monsters he says we are. In the comics, a mutant's superpowers generally manifest during puberty, but as you surmised, extreme emotional duress can cause them to manifest early, which is exactly what happened to Magneto. I hate that they "explained" the white stripe in Rogue's hair. In the comic books, she dyes that white stripe into her hair. Rogue is one of the few comic book characters whose unique sense of fashion is part of the character. She's a young woman who is forced to cover every square inch of her body, so she is forced to make unusual fashion choices. Only she can pull off combining elegant long cocktail gloves with a football jersey. The weird white stripe dyed into her hair fits with her odd fashion sensibilities. Wolverine's abilities come with instincts that he hates. He has an urge to kill and hurt people. He feels this makes him more of an animal than a person. This is why he is obsessed with Japanese culture. He feels that they are everything he is not (refined, disciplined, etc). His tough-guy persona is a facade he uses to cover up his insecurities about feeling like an animal. When he is under enough emotional duress, he will strip naked and live in the wilderness, eating animals when they're not quite dead yet. Although Wolverine doesn't know it, he and Sabretooth are half brothers with the same powers (they got it from their biological father). Sabretooth is what Wolverine would be if he gave in to his darker urges/instincts, while Wolverine is what Sabretooth would be if he fought them. The two major elements that keep cropping up in the racism metaphor are references to American slavery and Jim Crow brutalization of African-Americans, and the genocide of Jews during WW2. Scott had rough teenage years. As a child, he suffered a head injury that prevents him from turning his power off. Without those ruby quartz glasses, he would destroy anything he looked at. When his power manifested, had had to keep his eyes closed all the time for fear of destroying everything. This is why he's kind of cold and obsessed with self-control. It wasn't until he met the professor that he learned he could "see" without destroying things with ruby quartz glasses. Because of his experiences as a teenager, he can navigate the world like a blind person, so cutting off the lights doesn't slow him down very much. Professor Xavier's power is more horrifying than you think. In the Marvel universe, telepathy is a passive skill, not an active skill. He doesn't have to actively work to read other people's thoughts and feelings. He has to actively maintain telepathic shields to block their thoughts and feelings. When telepathic powers first manifest, the telepath literally cannot tell which thoughts or feelings are their own, which drives a lot of them mad. A crazy telepath can cause enormous suffering, which is why as a young man, Charles traveled the world hunting down crazy telepaths. This is how he got a reputation among telepaths as being very good at telepath vs telepath conflict. Magneto and Xavier really are friends, the kind that would risk their lives for each other, but because of differing ideologies, they are also enemies. Each is convinced that the other's actions make the genocide of mutantkind more likely, and so their followers battle each other endlessly. Xavier's followers point out that if successful, Magneto would only succeed in reversing the position of the oppressor and the oppressed without actually addressing the cause of the oppression. Magneto counters that mutants would never do that because they are inherently morally superior to humans (he's wrong about that, of course).

19:40 Funny you should mention Wakanda as Storm was married to Black Panther in the comics.

Raven (aka: Mystique) can use her shapeshifting powers to hold a wound closed. And I Imogen she can shift the placement of her organs slightly to lessen an injury.

Hugh wasn't very jacked because he wasn't the first choice to play Wolverine. Dougray Scott was originally chosen, but he got injured while filming Mission: Impossible 2 and had to step out. So Hugh was cast in his place, but it was so close to the start of production that he really couldn't hit the gym very much to get superhero swole.

I love Anna Paquin! I have loved her since Fly Away Home through the X-Men films through her indie films like Margaret and 25th Hour (a Spike Lee joint), to her starring TV role in HBO’s True Blood and including her cameo in my favorite horror franchise Scream 4, amongst other roles. I have a tiny KZbin channel where my first video is me saying how I love Anna Paquin. Ya’ll should check it out. *cough*

Stan Lee did have a cameo before this, in the Kevin Smith movie Mallrats. Also, you may notice continuity problems as you continue with this franchise, and my advice is to not worry about it and just assume that they're the result of the timeline being altered due to time travel shenanigans that you haven't seen yet. There will be two movies late in the franchise that both have time travel elements in them, and either one could easily be responsible for characters and or plot points not lining up from movie to movie. (In universe, anyway. In reality the writers just weren't letting the stories that came before get in the way of telling the latest story they wanted to tell.)
