@@sarahhughes3959 oh no, I'm so sorry! Just a tip, in Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet you can save before you encounter a shiny and it will still be there after you restart the game. You just have to make sure auto save is turned off. Helps to prevent possible shiny fails in the future.

4:04 Yup, I experienced this with my hunt for a shiny Zoroark. This spot is totally glitched, where if you’re unlucky while fighting the outbreak, Zorua and Zoroark have a chance to spawn inside of that rock after defeating or catching another mon in the outbreak. I haven’t found a solid way to avoid this other than keeping your distance, so if you’re hunting for either of these Pokemon be careful!

QOTD: My first shiny was drifloon! This was very early in the game right after I beat frenzied Kleavor. I heard the shiny sparkle sound effect and I was legitimately confused by the noise because I didn't know how the shiny mechanics worked in this game. I stopped, looked around, and saw a shiny yellow balloon in the distance. Drifloon is one of my favorite shinies and I was very happy to add it to my team.

As someone who randomly stumbled upon a shiny Geodude in that one cave near Azalea in HeartGold, they really do love to be shiny. I also wholly agree with John, I just wish the Graveller shiny was golden like Geodude, I evolved it and boxed it immediately because I was so sad, shiny Geodude was better to me.

QOTD: my first shiny NOT counting the Ponyta was a Drifloon out in the Coastlands area. I was just meandering around, and it was after I had done a long shift if Lyft driving with no tips at ALL (and by long shift it was 6 hours so 6 hours and nothing but 3 dollar drives) I wanted to take my mind off that disappointing Friday evening and BAM a shiny balloon ghost just POPPED right in front of me and I shrieked and threw the switch in sheer shock, and my cat almost cost me the shiny by laying on it causing the game to go to home screen. But THANKFULLY I still got the shiny. He's named Obi-Wan since he became a ghost after his encounter with Vader.

My first shiny in PLA other than Ponyta (as well as second non-guaranteed shiny ever and first full odds shiny) was Parasect which... honestly probably made Parasect one of my most disliked mons, combined with how *infuriating* that line is in this game. The favorite shinies I found though are a shiny Lucario which I found as a Riolu in an outbreak, a full odds shiny alpha Froslass, which wasn't even the guaranteed alpha Froslass, and a male Kirlia from an outbreak which I'm unsure if I'll evolve into Gardevoir or Gallade. My most wanted shiny is probably Hisuian Lilligant just cause I really like her, and while that shiny isn't as good as, say, Hisuian Zoroark or Gliscor, I think it's still very nice.

You can also tell when a Pokémon will be caught. If it’s a short bounce with 1 puff it’s basically guaranteed to be caught where as a high bounce with 3 puffs of smoke it’s pretty much gonna break out every time. Medium with 2 puffs is a 50/50

I was heading out to work on the dex in Obsidien and the first of those three Bidoofs you run across heading down the main path was shiny, at which point I caught it and aptly named it ShinyBeaver. Fun fact about spawns in Legends Arceus; all are predetermined as soon as you enter the region from Jubilife. You can reload a save if the Pokémon hadn’t been KOd yet. Spawning in outbreaks is slightly different, but the base 4 spawns work the same

Actually outbreaks work the same way, I had a shiny gardevoir spawn three voirs after the initial four, it ran away and I reloaded. Three after, it was shiny again

My first shiny in Legends Arceus was a shiny Kricketot that I found while wandering around the Obsidian Fieldlands. After that find, I went for almost 2 months without a shiny find until just recently when I found a shiny Luxio also in Obsidian and then the next day, I'm in the Cobalt Coastlands making my way to Windbreak Stand to get the Hisuian Growlithe that I hadn't gotten yet and when I get to the Growlithe, it was freaking shiny! Excluding the shiny Ponyta you get in that side quest, those are all my shiny Pokemon in Legends Arceus right now.

First shiny in this game I got is bronzong. The only one I've got from an outbreak was a Machop while I was trying to clear the Machop outbreak, the shiny just appeared while I was getting rid of them.

QOTD: My first shiny in legends arceus was a shiny alpha gliscor on my first visit to coronet highlands. Nearly gave me a heart attack when I heard the shiny sound and it was the alpha. As for what I’m currently hunting I’m hunting for a shiny Oshawott,Dewott, or Samurott in the space time distortions of post game.

Wishing luck on the oshawott hunt! I reccomend just going to the icelands as they normally spawn in those time distortions. Made me realize how small Hisuian Samurott was lol

QOTD: my 1st shiny was psyduck, i didnt even know abt the free shiny ponyta and got right after starting a shiny psyduck (30-60 mins in the game) and a carnivine 2 hours in the game

My first shiny in PLA was a teddiursa I came across in the mirelands. I never thought I would catch a full odds(I think?) shiny early in my playthrough but there it was right next to an alpha Ursaring. Its now an Ursaluna and stayed in my team for the rest of the game.

It was Probably full odds but the full odds for PLA isn’t that high compared to the 4000 and something odds in the other main stream games.

My first shiny was a Zubat. Took me by surprise. I got a lot of full odds shinies in this game. I only ever got a Patrat in B&W full odds. And that was my only shiny until I bred for some in Gen VIII. Never even got a raid den one. I got a ton in Gen IX that I thankfully didn't run past. A lot of Lechonk. Now, I have the shiny charm, so no more full odds.

My first shiny was scythed, but I came at the worst time. I was walking around, and right before this my team go wiped by an alpha babarrel(this was early game). And right after I found the shiny. So I had to take the few materials I had, craft revives, and give it to my Pokémon while also dodging the attacks from the Scyther. I still got it but I was the most stressful gaming experiences I have ever had

I literally was making my way up to meet Wyrdeer for the first time, and suddenly a golden Geodude popped up in front of me. Definitely not my favorite shiny, but a shiny nonetheless. Id love to find shiny Hisuian Zorua, it looks so cool

QOTD: I know I'm late to this, but my first shiny in PLA was a Kricketot. It was 1 hour into my first playthrough, I had just beaten the Alpha Kricketune, and after I had left I saw a yellow Kricketot. It broke out of 3 backstrikes and I finally caught it at the last second before it dissapeared

QOTD: My first shiny that I caught in Legends of Arceus was a bronzong. It was during an outbreak, and I was really supprised as it is a shiny I actually sort of like. My first full odds shiny was right after that, which was a yanmega (I am still really happy about that one). I really want a shiny zorua and a shiny growlithe. I mostly want the shiny zorua. My first shiny aside from the Ponyta quest one is a shiny Chatot...and it's a tragedy. It was a massive mass outbreak, I through an ultra ball at it as the entire horde of alpha and normal Chatots began to demolish me, and it broke out and immediately fled :/ I haven't found a shiny ever since...

QOTD: I actually got my first shiny of the game just a few hours ago. 34 hours into the game, only having beaten two of the five nobles, and I got a shiny Yanma in an outbreak. I love him sm. 💙
