First topwater fish of 2022 Evergreen SB 105. Lake Murray, SC. PB Bowfin.

I have never caught a gar, but I would imagine unhooking them is a scary prospect. I have also never caught a bowfin, it is my number one bucket list fish. Congrats dude. Looked like a great fish.

Thanks buddy. Every time I go back to fish that lake, for some reason, I’ll hook up to at lease one bowfin. Haha.

I shake them off if they make it to the boat. I haven't had to land and unhook one yet. Just give them some slack and a wiggle.
