You are in an excellent area with a lot of history being in Tennessee. If there are any rivers you can hunt, Id definitely hunt the banks. There might be lots of trash, but 6" helps with that. 👍👍👍 If you decide to get a shovel, I got an Excalibur shovel from a great guy in Oklahoma that owns outlaw metal detectors. Its built tough and makes life a lot easier.

The 6" does do a great job in the trash. I also like it in the woods because it is much easier to use in brushy areas. A good shovel will probably be my next purchase. I have an old drain shovel but it's heavy and doesn't do well with roots.

I started out with a Bounty hunter, my buddy used one for years and had a lot of success with it. He uses a 800 now. Don't get discouraged, 900 is an excellent machine and your finds will get better the longer you use it and learn it.

I really do enjoy getting out and seeing what I can find even if it's a bunch of trash sometimes. You just never know what the next find will be.
