I’m struck by your generosity, Larry. In several videos, you go to extra lengths to clean parts of the car that will never be seen by anyone other than a mechanic-and you do this to make working on the car easier and safer for them. And in the Wednesday replay video, you showed us how to prepare our paint to make the PPF installation process easier for the installer. I find these acts of selflessness inspiring.

That is absolutely wild, that they didnt put any rebar in a concrete floor built for an automobile garage..i once worked for a fencing company and they also made concrete fences..we used to put so much rebar in the brackets b4 we poured the concrete..otherwise the fence would just fall apart.

Was it fiber cement? Don't have to use rebar on fiber cement.
@wasabichicken4433
@wasabichicken4433 2 жыл бұрын
That floor is most likely still going to have issues. The rebar in a concrete floor is to stop cracks in it, and not the flex that he mentioned. That flex is coming from the void between the concrete and soil underneath, or just crappy soil all together under the floor giving way. Again, if he haven't had problems with cracking, that rebar ain't gonna help.

Great video. I bought a barn find 1983 928 s black on black 5 speed with BBS wheels in 2011 . It ran ... the body had a little rust at the base of the rear quarter windows but that was it. The leather interior was in very good condition. After a good cleaning in and out ( a few mice nests only in the engine bay )and new belts , valve springs , upgraded alternator and straight exhaust pipe .I ordered a stage 1 supercharger kit from 928 Motorsport in Wisconsin . It warranted a new paint job at this point . Looks terrific and drives even better . Wins awards at local car shows . Love that car !

Hey Matt, could you give us an update on what has happened with this beauty after you so lovingly brought it back alive and shining ? I believe there must have been quite some mechanical work to get it back running properly. The wheel rims could have used a refinish (or repaint) too, even though the (modified?) glossy shiny look looks nice with this white body. It would be so great to see and hear the final result back on the roads, ready for a second grand touring life !! Actually this car is so great that I originally thought you would keep it for yourself 😉

I would love to drive one of those! I remember seeing them here in the UK when I was young. One question though. Why didn’t you remove the seats & carpets to wash them, and make sure there was no mould on the chassis? When I watch these super restorations, I always think ‘would I put a newborn baby in it afterwards?’ With knowing that the seats & carpets weren’t removed and the metal chassis cleaned, I’m afraid I wouldn’t in this car.

The 928 has always been my favourite Porsche. I remember going to the national motor show here in the U.K. as a teenager when it was first shown. It looked like it had stepped in from the future. I particularly fell in love with a gold example in about 1981 that had that incredible check velour interior. What a shame the US made so many European cars undergo the safety features like those hideous fender extensions! First thing I would do is ditch them if I was in the US!

Great video, as always. I've had 3 x 928s, they are super good and in my opinion, undervalued. The touch up the paint on the nost is typical as the front bumper is plastic so any light touch when parking and so on, cracks the paint badly. I hope this car gets the new lease of life it deserves.

Great video and fantastic to see one of these brilliant cars being brought back into service. My father has a low mileage blue S4 model locked away, I've driven it quite a few times and they're still a very smooth and engaging driver even compared to modern era cars. They've aged brilliantly also (discounting facelift changes and so on over the years), considering the initial 928 design study was carried out by Porsche over 50 years ago in 1971!

I have exactly the same car and it's a tragedy seeing one in this condition. AMMO NYC, you did an amazing job. The exterior and interior is stage 1 that is required to prepare this car back on the road. Next is replacing the all too famous timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and rubber hoses, and belts. Looking at the amount of rodents that nested on the engine, electrical components such as the main electrical wire harness, spark plug wires, and other wired connections may need to be replaced. The last thing would be to repaint the magnesium air intake. Such a timeless beauty.

A friend of mine who is a mechanic says these 928's are probably one of the best build cars ever... very solid cars and a joy to work on, especially the late 80's early 90's ones. Just look at this, had been sitting outside for over 10 years and it's basically still very solid... most other cars would've rotten away.

Drove a 928 decades ago. Smooth, refined, and fit my 6’3” body like a glove. Seriously underrated vehicle.

These Porsche details and restorations are my favorite out of all the videos. And that’s coming from a Domestic auto guy. 80s and 90s Porsches are my Euro guilty pleasure lol

I did a similar car a few months ago for a buddy of mine. Brown doesn't look as good as white, LOL. Anyhow, just an amazing experience every time you put out a production like this. I know I've told you before but you just nail it with the passion and the appreciation for the cars and your craft. I'm constantly learning from you and happy for all your success. Here from Texas (by way of Boston), stay safe and thanks again.

My dad had that exact car when I was a kid, except one year newer and burgundy interior. Loved the 928. Thanks for saving it!

Another video with amazing work. Question, how do you do all the electronics when you are steaming them without damage? Specifically when it comes to radios and door speakers?

Wow! I admire your patience and care when doing these projects. I like to take care of my car myself, although nothing like these expensive birds you have worked on and no where near any similarities to the kit you have and use. However, it's always a pleasure to see the shine and the glory at the end of a good valet. I find doing valets/detailing therapeutic myself. I think you did an amazing job on this Porsche and on the red Lamborghini Countach. I really enjoyed the videos, massive pat on the back to you and respect for the huge effort you put in to give these cars back their original flare and breathe back fresh life into them. No doubt most of us are all stunned with the end result. Awesome, enjoyable and a pleasure to watch. 😀

I always loved the 928 back in the day and almost bought one (used), but passed on it. Great job making it look new again!!

Superb work as usual. But it's also a testament to the original Porsche paint that it comes up so well. Brilliant work.

I was 20 when the 928 was introduced. My boss bought a new 5 speed in Guards Red with the Pasha op art interior. I was in love with that baby and it got me high just driving it around the block. Watching you caress that car brings it all back like I was right there. I miss that car so much.

Dad had a '78, 5 speed in green with tan and black interior... I loved that car as a kid and loved going on road trips in it (except when there was another adult and I had to sit in the ridiculous back seat.) Was satisfying watching this rejuvenation
