In this video I will talk about my first week as a new oculoplastic surgery fellow. It has been a lot of fun I’ve gotten to do a lot of surgeries and help out with a lot of neuro Ophthalmic and plastic surgery emergencies and urgencies. I’ll talk about how I am studying and trying to get better at suturing. It’s a lot of work but I’m enjoying it so far.

can't wait to watch your surgical videos on oculoplastic procedures, if you're planning to make some in the future.

Balance out and find time to rest, Dr! Love the little thing you put on to ask for subscribers. All take efforts and did such a decent job.

Really inspiring to see someone so passionate about what they do! I do have a question though: is there any support staff in ophthalmology that you have to interact with on a daily basis or often? (technicians, COMT, optometrists, and so on) and what is their role, do they help out in any way during/before/after surgeries?

Thanks. We do interact with staff - We work with clinic technicians and scrub Tech’s, Depending on your set up you may work more closely with optometrists. It varies a lot but there is a lot of interaction for sure

Also another question, did you ever enjoy vitreoretinal? What were your thoughts about the subspecialty?

At this point I’m not sure. But I think ultimately at some point down the line I will transition into private practice even if it’s not initially.

I liked retina surgery a lot. I actually went into ophthalmology with the intention of doing it as a sub specialty. Oculoplastics was just more fun to me and you could make patients happier I felt like. Also the lifestyle is better.
