Such a great skill for the kiddos to learn. Your kiddos are going to be so capable of taking care of a family and a farm when they grow up. It also builds a lot of confidence in themselves.

I used plastic milk crates to categorize things in my deep freezer years ago! They stack and you can keep like items together. 😊

Putting your one pail inside the other may transfer bacteria into the top buck. I was told to never use the same rag for any part of the bucket that touches the ground or possible feces, use a different rag. Not sure if that matters, but I did feel it was good advice. So seeing you walk in with your buckets inside each other made me think of that. Since you are new too, I thought I would share that. 👍 Thanks for sharing your journey.

You’ve definitely got the hang of things in just a short time! Hope your arms start to feel better soon, this is in no way a sales pitch, however, I use doterra products and I use deep blue rub on sore muscles and it’s amazing and all natural, works better than anything I’ve ever found for sore and aching muscles. Thanks again for the updates, it’s so fun to watch your family and farm grow.

Hi Julie ! Thanks for the video ! I wish my husband and I were in an area where we could have a small hobby farm ! We live in the suburbs of Michigan ! Anyway , we have a deep freezer and I have reusable fabric grocery bags I got from Walmart ... I put each type of meat in separate bags ! And then same for frozen veggies and like items ! We are going to get an upright freezer as soon as they are in stock again , for other types of food like bread and freezer meals and such ! But the bags for the chest freezer is the easiest way for me to get in there to get something out and organized for me ! I just stack the bags on top of each other ! They are the bags that look like a fabric box with handles !

Loving this! Julie pretty soon can you do a video of like a week of breakfasts/ week of lunches/ week of dinners? I want our family to start eating more simply and nutritious right now processed and snacks stuff is much of our diet and I’m sure some of our stinky attitudes and stuff are from no good nutrition.
@jasonandjulie4 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re probably right. We’ve been through seasons where our diet wasn’t so great and it does affect us all! I will start taking some video clips of meals to compile into a video

I just bought some gallon size glass jars from Azure Standard. They were $17.88 for 4 jars, plus 4 lids for $3.15.. makes it $5.25/ea. That's the cheapest we've been able to find them, too. I prefer the glass jars to the 5-gallon buckets for long term storage. Another option are pickle jars from Sam's Club, this is my children's favorite method of getting gallon jars, LOL.

So, ice cream, butter, whipped cream, cheese? Looks like you have a big supply in the barn fridge. Do the kids like it better than the milk delivered from the neighbors? Buying gallon jars! It makes me sad to think we left at least 40 of the blue ball jars (antique?) in the crawl space of my mother-in-law's house when we sold it.

I don’t mean to be judgmental, but your cow looks awfully skinny to me! Is she getting enough feed?
@jasonandjulie4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Jersey milking cows are actually supposed to be thin. If you do an internet search on “why are Jersey dairy cows so skinny” you’ll find all kinds of interesting info on it 😊
