A FEW BITS OF ADVICE from someone who went through the experience long ago, and recently went through it again vicariously through my wife... As far as the books, please look for sites where you can rent them. Your law school books will literally be a paper weight after you're done with them. It is absolutely useless to pay full price for them or to keep them long term. Hornbooks are a great resource, as you've noticed. HOWEVER If i could go back in time the advice I would give myself was to buy a bar prep set (something like Barbri) but NOT the Barbri materials for law students, an old set of books for actual bar prep. I went through all of law school and never understood topics and ideas as well as I did after reading the bar prep material. They are generally leaps and bounds better than anything you will find for current law students. And of course, find the book 'getting to maybe' was probably the best took for learning to initially think and write properly for law school exams.

I was able to rent all of my books or buy used copies off of older students which was awesome and kept book prices really low! Except for contracts... also shockingly there were classmates that paid even more than I did for that book. It's also interesting that the hornbook for contracts is required reading! I have been debating buying ones for my other classes, but I'm not sure what classes I would benefit from it yet compared to E&E's. Thanks for the advice about the bar review stuff! I haven't heard of that yet!

@@GabrielleNoelle2 yeah. No one knows that until after you’re done and studying for the bar and you begin to ask yourself. WELL WHY DIDNT SOMEONE GIVE ME THIS BEFORE!!!! lol. Sounds like you have things all set. This wasn’t available when I was in school but my wife also used outline banks which were professor specific. I can ask if you’re not familiar what there names were. She’s a more recent grad, 2019 I believe. We’re making videos together on succeeding in law school for a small channel. If there’s anything you’d like to see discussed please let us know. Good luck, be well! Should you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Love how transparent you are in your vlogs and oh yeah $400 for a textbook is insane.

Yes. RENTING is usually the way to go. Law school books are absolutely useless after law school!

I am so glad that you enjoy Cornell Law, as an alumna "Enjoy Ithaca" and please don't chain yourself in the lib. Some suggestions on textbooks I know it's super expensive so, please compare the previous version with the current version or one that required by the prof. if there is few changes, don't bother buying. You can just scan some pages at the lib. Good Luck & Have fun

It really is a time in your lifetime you will NEVER forget! The one thing you must absolutely do is not let yourself follow the crowd down the downward spiral into insanity. Easier said than done, but in retrospect law schools wasn’t that difficult or even challenging. Once you survive the first year the rest is easy as pie. You should create more content. Please feel free to use any content I post on my channel or ask us to respond to any concerns etc. Our goal as two seasoned attorneys (one now a judge) is simply to help students as much as we can through the difficult process that is law school. It is a passion project for us, and we both truly enjoy simply being around and talking to students.

this vlog was super relatable and so fun to watch. I have no doubt you're going to do great this academic year. Also-- can we talk about how beautiful Cornell is!! I'm currently a 1L too and posted a vlog about my first day of law school haha, literally the night before, I COULD NOT SLEEP. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing and hoping the semester has been treating you well (:

So even if youre vaccinated you have to get a test done?
@GabrielleNoelle23 жыл бұрын
Yup! I think if you're unvaccinated you need to get tested twice a week. For undergrads even if vaccinated they'll continue to be tested once a week, but for grad students they are talking about taking away the testing requirement midway through the semester
