I have been teaching for 23 years and even in the best years, there are behaviors you will have to correct everyday until the last day. Kids are kids! You’ve got this.

Yeah! You've survived your first week of school. I'm sure things will continue to improve with you and your students, things take time. Just try to remember why you're a teacher, what got you interested in the career field, etc. We're all rooting for you Amanda.

My standards for a good day…no one got hurt and everyone made it home lol Be sure to drink lots of water. The first few weeks last year I would get headaches because I was dehydrated. You’re doing great! Stay positive and keep pushing!!

It gets so much smoother once students know the procedures and schedule! You made it through week one, which is huge!! Congrats!

You did it!! The first week is always SO exhausting. It won’t always be this way 😂 Keep reviewing rules, procedures and building relationships! There will almost always be bumps in the day, but it definitely gets easier.

You're always going to have to correct because they aren't perfect. We're working with little kids! It took me a long time to accept that and be knowledgeable of where kids are developmentally.

I recommend getting a microphone headset for teaching! I use it and I’ve seen other teachers start using it too. Ur voice doesn’t hurt and u could reach more kids w the loudness of the microphone.

Completely agree. Even the best days, there's a behavior I need to correct (they're kids, so they need that guidance and accountability). My first couple years of teaching were trying to learn to not take those behaviors seriously (it's typically nothing personal). While it's easy for me to take behaviors personally, it's normal and developmentally appropriate for kids to test boundaries.

What about doing some choice play or something after lunch to get their jitters out before you transition into instruction? Elementary with Emma has a great video on this!

Hi. I’ve been teaching for 10 years (in the UK). There will always be behaviours to correct and individuals that push boundaries every single day. My advice would be to consider what must be done for success. Planning and lesson content will be more important in the long term than pretty displays or parent calls. Prioritise things that will help you achieve what your job is- children learn a curriculum for their age group. Other stuff can fit in the gaps you have, when you have them. Keep going!

I recommend extra strength Ricola throat drops. You will also have to learn how to speak more from your diaphragm rather than the upper part of your throat because it will help to protect your voice over time. Observe how your students are interacting with each other and see which students bring out the best in each other or influence others to misbehave or make poor choices. It is about finding out which students work well with one another. Try to plan out for two days at a time rather than one and write a list of things that you want to do in the morning before you leave your classroom for the day. Be sure to be consistent with your behavior expectations and focus on the positive behaviors that your students are doing. Best of luck to you and find extra double padded insoles for your shoes for added comfort. Thank you for your video presentation. Take care.

Do you remember what size you got the brown old navy dress in your second day outfit? I know it’s not available anymore but just curious. Ty
