Soda Stereo (1982-1997) is the most influential rock band in spanish. “Me Verás Volver” is the name of the 2007 tour. There were 22 shows in Latin America and the EEUA... more than 1,000,000 people. They played 6 times at River Plate Stadium, breaking the rolling stones récord of 5 shows so far. I recommend listening to “En la Ciudad de La Furia” Me Veras Volver 2007. Unfortunately Gustavo Cerati (singer, guitarrist and composer) passed away in 2014.

I saw them on this tour in Los Angeles. I'm so glad I got to see them before Gustavo died. That was so sad. I discovered them in 1998 when I lived in Mexico and a Chilean friend introduced me to their music. I heard Paseando por Roma and I was immediately hooked. I listened to that song over and over and over again. It was so amazing. All their stuff was great and they were so much better live than in the studio. And they were great in the studio. I still listen to Soda Stereo and Gustavo almost every day (although I've been on big Los Bunkers kick for the past few months). I watch the whole video for Ultimo Concierto about once a year. It was so amazing too.

Soda Stereo was the biggest latin american band from late 80s 90s but they split in 1997, and after 10 years in 2007 they rejoined just to please all the fans on a single tour called Me Verás Volver (You'll see me come back) covering USA,Mexico,Colombia,Ecuador,Chile,Venezuela,Perú and Argentina (probabbly i'm missing one), gathering 1,5 millon people or so with all shows packed on the biggest stadiums of each country. The reason why this really amazing band was not also big on other destinations can be related to a very special music market in spanish, spain to be specific, that afraid of being rushed by a foreign spanish speaking band they kinda "blocked" or boicoted the entrance to the european market, which is a shame, cause they dont have anything to envy to bands like Oasis, U2 among others, even colplay made a tribute to them after his lead singer (gustavo cerati) passed and Cirque du Soleil made a show called "Septimo Dia" to pay tribute to them (thing that only happened with michael jackson and the beatles only at that time). Gustavo had also a solo career that include meets in Abbey Road with Stewart Coppeland and Andy Summers to sing and produce, and a. Series of symphonic episodes with the London philarmonic. Their most notorious influences are The Police, The Cure,David Bowie (they played and produced an album with Carlos Alomar former Bowie's lead guitar), the smiths, and argentinian musicians as Spinetta,Seru Giran,Charly Garcia,among many others. They have a really vast career with many original songs that cover ranges like pop,funk,punk,rock,hard rock,alternative,electronic, etc. And the most inportant fact, they considered themselves as a LIVE BAND, thats why they sound as good as it gets live, no backtracks,no playback, they started in 1981-82 with Gustavo -Zeta Bosio on bass -Charly Alberti on drums, always a 3 men band, but ofc with some musicians in the back like Zorrito Von Quintero on keyboards and Richard Coleman , you can bet they will surprise you gratefully. @@hiranallan8140 gracias por tu comentario , si bien no soy fanático pero el primer casette (viejito jajaj) que me regalaron de chico fue soda y uno de duran duran en el 85, y los pude ver en 2007, pero siempre seguí los pasos de la banda, no tanto de Gus como solista, lamentablemente lo empecé a apreciar más luego de que se fue, un pérdida muy grande para todos

Hey Tyler! Glad you enjoyed Soda Stereo! Thanks for this great reaction!! This band was formed in 1982 in Buenos Aires and split in 1997. Gustavo Cerati (singer, guitarist, composer, leader of the band and genius) went solo and in 2007 they reunited on a special huge tour all around Latin America and USA (Gira Me Verás Volver / You’ll see me come back tour). This version of Prófugos (Escapees, Fugitives) is from that amazing tour. You should check out more from Soda and from Gustavo Cerati’s solo career as well because they were awesome! Sadly Gustavo passed in 2014 after being in a coma for 4 years because of a stroke he suffered after a show in Venezuela. We miss him very much, he is a true legend♥️. Even Coldplay did a cover from one of their most well known songs (De música ligera) as a tribute to Gustavo and Chris Martin is a fan! I suggest more Soda for you! Hey Tyler, thanks for reacting to Soda. I’ve been to that concert. The band was created in 1982 and their breakup was in 1997. The performance you reacted to was from their reunion in 2007. Soda was the biggest/most influential band in Latin America in the 80/99s. I suggest you the following songs: En Remolinos (same live performance), En la Ciudad de la Furia (MTV Unplugged), El Rito (Chile, 1986), etc.

It's a funny thing about latin American music, we have great music and endless generas but until the internet came along and all these reaction channels became popular, the music pretty much stayed in Latin America. We grew up listening to both Spanish and English spoken music but there wasn't a media for English speaking countries to hear us. I'm glad you have a chance now. Sadly Gustavo Cerati, the lead singer died some years ago, but this band is an icon for Latin America!

It's from the Me Verás Volver 2007 Tour too but not that from the official DVD. It's a little bit different because the guitar solo Gustavo Cerati played (amazing to me).
