Sanjay Subrahmanyan: Ragam Sahana

The second piece of Sanjay Subrahmanyan's performance at the FEA-curated CROSSROADS festival was a composition by Tyagaraja called Eevasudha in Ragam Sahana.
He was accompanied by S Varadarajan on violin, Neyveli B Venkatesh on mridangam and Alathur Rajaganesh on kanjira.

Sanjay is an excellent source of classical . An unimportant, lyrics, he became to forward & every line maximum developed. His performance is kept on mind all carnatic classical concert.

Sanjay is not only a remarkable singer of Carnatic music but also has scores of true Carnatic music lovers around the globe. He is a knowledgeable crowd puller with his vibrant rendition. His manodarman par excellence which I had seen only master great musician of yesteryear Madurai Mani Iyer. He attracts with exquisite rendition with uncanny understanding of what his rasikaas want at a particular day. His swaraprastharam is next only to MMI. On the whole he is the superstar on the podium of Carnatic music.

Lovely Rendition by Vidwan Sanjay Subrahmanyan ! I vasudha nIvanti Ragam Sahana Adi talam Thyagarajar krithi This is SrI tyAgarAja sings praises of Lord Siva ( sundaresa ) at kOvur. According to biography of Tyagaraja, he visited the town of kOvur at the request of one Sundaresa Mudaliar and sang five kRtis on the Lord sundarESa there. Though the wordings ' nI pura vAsamonara jEyu vAri' (those who facilitate residence in your town) seems to be general in nature, it might refer to this devotee (Sundaresa Mudaliar). This also I think is a Part of Kovvur Pancharathna Pallavi: I vasudha nIvaNTi daivamu nendu gAnarA I do not find (kAnarA) anywhere (endu) in this (I) Earth (vasudha) a God (daivamunu) (daivamunendu) like (aNTi) You (nIvu) (nIvaNTi). Anupallavi: bhAvukamu galgi vardhillu kOvUri sundarEsha girIsha O Lord sundarESa of kOvur (kOvuri) town which is prospering (vardhillu) by having (kalgi) good fortune (bhAvukamu)! O Lord (ISa) of Mountains (giri) (girISa)! I do not find anywhere in this Earth a God like You.
