Kala Ramnath: Raag Kafi

Kala Ramnath was the featured artiste at the FEA-curated Kotak Classical Evenings concert held at G5A - Foundation for Contemporary Culture, Mahalaxmi. Her second piece of the evening was in Raag Kafi. Kala was accompanied by Pt. Yogesh Samsi on tabla.

I do understand that today's performer's are experts in the Ragas and Kirtan written by masters of yesterday. Mam you are on the few who can leave behind your footprint with new keertans and bajan compositions for the next generation. If this is not taken up then we will find 100 years from now bajans and keertan played in the movies adopted for performance.

In Kafi, I keep hearing phrases of Kapi and Bageshree which aren't usually there in Kharaharapriya.
