Jacob Zuma's MK Party Joins Opposition Alliance To Take on Ramaphosa | Firstpost Africa
Cyril Ramaphosa has been elected as South Africa’s next President. Although this has ended the country's political deadlock, it has opened a new chapter of rivalry between Ramaphosa and Jacob Zuma. Former president Zuma's uMkhonto we Sizwe party (MK) will join an alliance of smaller opposition parties in parliament in a bid to take on the African National Congress and Democratic Alliance-led coalition government. Earlier, the MK Party had boycotted the first sitting of the National Assembly on Friday after filing a complaint at the country's top court alleging vote-rigging. But now, the party says it will join the alliance called the "Progressive Caucus", which includes the Marxist Economic Freedom Fighters and the United Democratic Movement. As friends-turned-foes- Zuma and Ramaphosa appear at loggerheads, will this usher in a new era of South African politics? Watch our video to know more.
